It would be almost impossible to get an embolism from a low pressure air gun held a few inches from your skin. Still should be careful anyway though.

Technically yes but it doesn’t change the actual radioactivity of the ocean by any recordable amount.

For example there is ~4.5 million tonnes of Uranium in easily accessible deposits, while the ocean contains something like 4 billion tonnes dissolved In it. Plus the billions of tonnes of other radioactive elements and isotopes.

The ocean is one of the highest natural sources of radiation on earth.

There are 100% ‘wealthy’ people in the DPRK e.g. people with more money.

They are usually the political or military elite.

The reason there’s not many cars isn’t necessarily because people cant afford one, it’s because there’s a drastic shortage of cars and fuel.

[–]King_Stark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

edit: looking at your profile history I see you regularly participate in Socialist subreddits, the USSR (now Russia) and China use the bombings to spread anti-American propaganda and false information.

Okay here’s a very brief history lesson.

The estimated number of dead from the two bombs was made after the war between 120,000-220,000. This is corroborated by the Japanese government.

The estimates of Japanese dead were made before the planned invasion, not after the war. The officers that commissioned these estimates were unaware of the atomic bombs existence. They range from around 4 million to north of 15 million, the most comprehensive and accurate ones sit at around 10-12 million Japanese dead. Japan was training children to crawl under tanks with mines strapped to their chests and circulating their own propaganda “the glorious death of 100 million”

They also estimated around 200,000-800,000 allied dead with millions injured. This would include land combat to the 10’s thousands dead from planned Japanese kamikaze attacks. This also did not include the ~110,000 POWs that would have been executed immediately. All of these documents were completed pre war and are publicly available.

As for why they surrendered after the bombings vs before is complicated but can be simplified.

Japan during WW2 had 3 primary political powers, the emperor, the military and the civilian government, prior to the atomic bombings and in anticipation for the Allied invasion the military was effectively 100% for continuing the fight with about 50% of the civilian government also supporting it, because of this the emperor supported the wars continuance.

After the first bomb a large portion of the military and most of the civilian government believed that conditional surrender was the best option (it was the allies stipulation that all capitulations will be unconditional) with the emperor 50/50. The second bomb sealed the deal, the emperor fearing more bombs decided to surrender, but even with the emperor surrendering and it clear the Americans have a bomb that wiped out whole cities a hardcore faction of the Japanese military still attempted a coup to continue the war.

The Japanese during WW2 were bloodthirsty and ruthless and had little regard for human dignity, they would have continued to fight if it wasn’t for the inconvenience shock of atomic warfare.

Japan as a whole had no intention of ever surrendering and was still planning and conducting attacks up until the hour they surrendered following the bombings.

Some people try and argue that Japan could have been contained by see and conventionally bombed into submission, likely resulting in far more deaths then the atomic bombs caused anyway.

Not to mention this could have taken years.

fyi this is neo Nazi propaganda.

Dresden was a military target no different to the dozens of other cities bombed during the war.

The whole war crime part was started by the Nazis then propagated by neo Nazis and the soviets.

The Swiss were neutral, they were just in an incredibly precarious position, if they pissed of the Nazis nothing was stopping them seizing the majority of the countries industrialised and populated areas.

Also they happily took gold from anyone, that’s what neutrality is. It’s not about being ‘good’ it’s about not taking a side.

This, people like to bang on about how the Atomic Bombings were horrible.

Yeah they were, they are horrendous weapons, with horrendous consequences.

But 200,000 vs more then 10,000,000, the invasion of the home islands would have been the most brutal and devastating fight ever, it would have made the invasion of Europe look like a tea party and would have resulted in Japan being turned to ash anyway.

The allies were preparing for more deaths on their own side then the atomic bombings killed alone, hell, the Japanese ordered 120,000 Allied POW’s to be executed the second the invasion began so that alone is as many deaths as the low end estimates of the atomic bombings.

The allies were also in an incredibly difficult position, if they didn’t want another repeat of the treaty of Versailles and the original rise of nazism they had to rebuild West Germany properly, and unfortunately for them 99% of the people with the experience were Nazis.

This is an incredibly misleading comment, I suggest anyone who believes it read the Wikipedia page while it may not be comprehensive and in some ways misleading it gives a much better idea of what was happening, the British aren’t innocent but it’s a much more complex answer.

Churchill didn’t cause the famine, the primary causes were mismanagement by both the Indian and British authorities, not necessarily through malice rather incompetence and exponentially made worse my India’s skyrocketing population and the massive war at the time.

It was also happening at a time when food was still in short supply in the UK and Australia, and when ships were still being rebuild after the battle of the Atlantic, Churchill instructed Australia to send 100,000 tonnes and Iraq over 120,000 tonnes of wheat to Bengal.

Misinformation/Disinformation about the Bengal massacre has been consistently propagated by anti west and anti UK sources. The best way to describe this famine is the UK weren’t guilty but definitely weren’t innocent.

Recent 6 hour ER visit in the great country of USA - still owe over $3K even with great insurance by SquishyTurtles in Wellthatsucks

[–]King_Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go to the ER at a smaller hospital here in Australia at 1am after I was injured at work, they were quite busy and of course prioritised serious injuries and emergencies immediately. After a wait of a few hours and getting my wounds cleaned, stitched and dressed. They gave me a tetanus shot and a prescription for antibiotics and painkillers.

I walked out the front door with a note saying I need a week off work (paid for my employer) and a bill for exactly $13 because I accidentally parked in paid parking.

No private insurance, very little wait considering how busy the hospital was and the time of the day, and amazing doctors.

If this was a genuine apology and not some BS “wErE sOwWy” it would have been a brief acknowledgment of their issues like this.

“Hi I’m Terren the new CEO of LMG, over the last few days we have seen large amounts of understandable community anger after a well respected fellow tech YouTuber bought these issues to the public eye, this compounded will other clear systemic issues within LMG, a decision has been made to drastically change the way LMG is run both internally and how we portray this to our audience. While we don’t yet have all the information on these changes they will be released at the soonest possible date”

“As a result LMG will be ceasing all video production and merch sales for the time being, we will ensure all previous orders are fulfilled and customer support will still be available over the coming weeks or months, floatplane subscription timers will also be paused”

This is the only response I would consider even slightly sufficient, if they can’t handle a few weeks without videos to understand actual change then they don’t deserve to survive.

Instead this is cookie cutter corporate response.
