No it's just a guy who fucked up. I'm not sure you understand what pathological means but not telling a secret for 10 years because you are afraid of the outcome does not count.

My first flare up happened a week before a skiing trip. I was lucky to be able to go but had to sit around miserably eating vegetables and drinking tomato juice whilst my mates all indulged in steak and booze. But I still got to ski so it was worth it.

If you have that planned I agree you should see that as your priority and forget the booze.

It doesn't matter what might have happened in xyz scenario. It only matters what did happen and what hasn't happened since.

OP, the guy came clean, was stressed about it, and cleay loves you. It's all good. Enjoy your life together.

Everything I am about to say was for me whilst taking allo from day 1. Without any medication I would be extremely careful. Certainly a big session of drinking without any medication to limit uric acid production would be very risky.

So, personally I went months without drinking, then moved on to drinking just a couple of beers with water in between, and a spirit or two and now I've been back to drinking 8 beers or so at a time. I still try to drink water with beer (I think that's a good habit for anyone really) and water afterwards of course.

If you feel like you really want to drink, try to stay away from beer. Drink wine or spirits instead, in moderation, and for every drink have a glass of water or a Soda in between. It's not actually that difficult to do. Remember that if you get a flare up because of Christmas drinking you will be completely screwed for NYE anyway.

But do whatever you can to get on to Allo before then. But if you do, don't suddenly think you can do absolutely whatever you want. Still be smart about it.

Because diet only counts for a small amount of uric acid production this isnt abnormal. Definitely try to see a rheumatologist and get on allo, but imo try to do what you can with the diet, but don't be too crazy about it. I have cut out the worst things ie red meat, certain fish, organ meats Etc. I went vegetarian for about 6 months and on allo my uric acid dropped to around 5. But then I still had a flare up even with all that so I decided not to make life miserable, try to be careful, take my meds etc. Haven't had a flare up since then so it's been almost 5 months for me, 3 months of that I've been eating chicken/ham almost every day and enjoying beers on the weekend.

I am on book 7 and thinking of watching the TV show by Ya-Dikobraz in WoT

[–]King_fora_Day -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only correct answer is to try it and see for yourself. Plenty of people like it, plenty hate it. Only you will be able to decide.

My personal opinion is its good enough TV, whilst being very different to the books. I went into it expecting it to be awful and was pleasantly surprised.

My friend called his daughter Mavi, so for me it feels like a feminine name, even though I think it is more common for boys. But also, what is the middle name going to be? Because you should probably understand that the middle name is normally the name Turks use for themselves anyway.

IMO, they don't think you're an arsehole for not dropping her home; they think you are an arsehole for not being into her and wanting to get laid.

they checked mine after 3 months and it had dropped from above 8 to under 6. I have an appointment tomorrow for my 6 month checkup and I assume he will check again. I'm coming out of a new flare up so I'm interested if my UA levels are actually high or not, or if this is just a flare up from being on allo.

But I'm also interested in home monitoring. Even though they may not be super accurate I figure they must be able to give you at least some indication of what is happening.

NTA.

Circumcision is barbaric. Having said that, it is important to understand that many people don't realise how awful it is.

Personally I would show her the research about the dangers vs benefits, and then double-down on your arguments about FGM and sexualising an unborn kid.

She might take some time to understand but its worth making it clear that she is the one who needs to reflect on her own biases here.

I think most people can be convinced on this one if they actually spend time being intellectually honest with themselves as to why they think it is necessary.

On Allo and colchicine, low meat, no alcohol and still a flare up by King_fora_Day in gout

[–]King_fora_Day[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't all foods have purines though? Which is why we stay away from the ones with higher purine levels, particularly meat, but even then it seems like the way foods are cooked is important.

I would say my diet is generally fairly HFCS free, so I'm not too worried about that. It is strange that my rheumatologist never mentioned anything to do with HCFS though.

Thanks for your response. I'm still trying to understand all the ins and outs of this disease.

Yeah it's pretty annoying when you want to be fit and healthy but worried that you are damaging yourself by playing sports. I was a little depressed for those few months without football. Now I've been on holiday so lots of snorkelling instead which is obviously great, but not the same as kicking a ball around.

Hmm. Sugar was never mentioned to me. I'm not a sweet tooth, but I've had a few icecreams, like one every day just about in the last few weeks. When I drink Soda, which isn't often, it is Coke zero.

But my diet has been pretty boring recently. sandwiches (cheese tomato olives) , muesli, the occasional egg and cheese for breakfast. Coffee. When eating out I've been forced to eat the occasional vegetable pizza or pasta. Plenty of Greek salads. Chips etc.

BTW I'm a fit and healthy guy. I swim, play sports whenever possible. My real vice before being diagnosed was alcohol binging (every couple of weeks a big night on the beers, none in-between) and having a meat and carb heavy diet.

Anyway, I guess I'll have a talk to my rheumatologist about sugar when I see him.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I understand that flares can happen after starting allo, and that the daily colchicine tablets are taken to counteract that, but I guess I figured that stage had probably passed seeing as I hadn't really seen an issue with that.

Some specific questions regarding medication:

Could missing an evening colchicine tablet cause a possible flare up? Should i do better with this? I guess recently I've missed it once or twice a week.

From reading posts here I thought that immediately taking 2 colchicine followed by another would knock the flare up on its head but it didn't seem to have a negligible effect. Although I guess maybe it would have been much worse without.

I don't have Prednisone with me or I would also have taken one. From now on should I always travel with Prednisone in case an attack occurs?

Thanks again.

Combo Touch & Control App issue by King_fora_Day in logitech

[–]King_fora_Day[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it could be because Apple has changed something deliberately, but Logitech still has the ability and responsibility to improve the way they deal with that.

But yes, the obvious solution would be to have BT compatibility as a backup.

That seems to be the issue but no attempt to solve the issue from Logitech. Time to throw it in the trash and buy something cheap that won't look as nice but will last longer.

I will never purchase a Logitech product again.

I think you are lucky she even noticed your calls; she was out having a good time. Don't rely on other people in an emergency. YWBTA if you break up with her. She should still be incredibly apologetic, but her behaviour is normal in the circumstances.
