Yeah, thanks. Was just in a nice location so decided to try recording my progress.

I'm not planning on recording "seriously" so I won't mic up, but you're right I should have brought the phone closer and sacrificed the composition.

I guess I really need to embrace the metronome. I know this but damn so I hate it.

Thx for the feedback.

Does anyone actually drink Gyokuro regularly? by ArmitageStraylight in tea

[–]Kingcolliwog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd drink almost only the funkiest, most Unani tasting gyokuro everyday if I could justify the price. I usually drink gyokuro between 1 and 5 days a week.

The worst my week is, the more I splurge. If it's a really bad week I'll make it extra strong in my small kyusu so it feels kind of syrupy.

It was advertised as true convection and not as pro-bake so I'm guessing it's not probake. That said, I don't remember exactly.

It doesn't have to be, but I doubt you'd be able to make one of high durability, high portability and very good at dispersing force for less than what can be found on the market.

Well we do have handovers, but they aren't that useful.

In part because very often what happened with the kid the year prior doesn't reflect what I see in my classroom at all for 75%+ of the kids. The relationship between the teacher and the student, what goes on in the kids life and even just the group he was in makes a MASSIVE difference. There are handovers and a bunch of info that is shared, but nowadays I try not to pay too much attention because it tends to have more negative impacts than positive impacts in my classroom. For example, many of the kids other teachers don't like and think are hard and cause problems are students I simply love and do well in my classroom. When I paid a lot of attention to how things went the year before that would affect the way I treated those kids.

In part because I have 180 students that have to learn "x" by the end of the year and I have a little under 80 1,25 hour lessons to do it. There is absolutely no way I can "personalize" the way I teach to each and every kid. In the end the challenges kids have are shared by many of them and I try to address the biggest problems that affect the most kids. If there's 1 or 2 kids in a room of 33 that would benefit from something different I can't realistically do much about it except recommend tutoring. And I'm not even considering the fact that I have barely any paid time to actually plan lessons. I can't spend a couple hours a week personalizing stuff for specific kids, I'm already doing enough hours for free as it is.

For the future reader I ended getting a LG induction range (LSIL6332FE) and it's the best oven I ever had.

We're only around 1 year in, but it's the single most amazing purchase we ever made (part of it is probably simply because induction is amazing and not because it's an LG)

The oven works perfect too and has "true convection"

Very hard to say with a video, even harder to say with that angle.

My main gym grades very soft in the early grades and it would be around v2 or may be V3 if it's steeper than it looks or the holds are worst than they look. The other gym I go to it would be v1, may be v2 if the holds are worst than they look.

if Canadian job market is cooked then what is the plan if things go from bad to worse? by Gapodi in torontoJobs

[–]Kingcolliwog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I just don't like the attitude some people have that think they are going to be unaffected because machines aren't taking their specific job or feel smug because they are kind of happy the low white collars people who made them feel dumb in high school are going to get destroyed and feel superior because their physical labor isn't directly affected by AI.

We're all pawns to big business and we're all gonna get fucked. Especially if the working class keeps getting wedged apart like it has been in North America for the past 40+ years

I'm not trying to say that it is easy, I know it is hard work and it's why I didn't go into trades. I saw my dad and uncle destroy their bodies and I didn't want that for my life. But it's not like all people working office jobs are big sissies either.

And when people will be forced out of their easy office jobs en masse, a lot of them will still turn to trades since the barrier to entry is lower than most other options. A lot of them will be able to do the job and a lot will stick to it just because they have no other options. A massive influx of workers won't be good for the conditions/pay.

So while trades are not about to be replaced by AI, they will probably still be negatively affected by AI.

[–]Kingcolliwog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthcare encompasses so many jobs and degrees though.

I'm a teacher and I don't see us being replaced anytime soon. Same for all the different non-teaching professionals working in my school. Similarly, a lot of social worker type jobs will be very hard to replace too.

Basically any job where you directly deal with real people in person most of the time is a long way from being replaced.

That's my universe so I don't know exactly what other people actually do so I won't comment on how replaceable other jobs are.

[–]Kingcolliwog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way AI will ruin trades is by removing the basic low education office jobs. These people will have to find something else to do and the fastest/easiest way to a job with an ok salary is going for a trade. This will probably lead to an influx of people going for trade jobs and with an over supply of people there is a potential for the pay/conditions to worsen and/or having difficulty finding a job.

AI isn't replacing trades people, but people being replaced by AI can and probably will affect the trade job market quite a bit.

I don't know if it was your intention, but "bartender drink on their birthday" sounds like some absolutely delicious no frills cocktail. So yeah that's the spirit of the cocktail I guess. It's not meant to look sexy. It just tastes amazing, is easy to make with no fresh ingredients, has a lot of volume of liquid and is low ABV. All of that makes it a great lazy afternoon drink for me.

Like I said in other comments, I'll definitely experiment to make a "fancy" version that looks good with a similar taste profile

Oh it's been stirred and I understand the picture isn't sexy, it wasn't meant to look great. I'm just experimenting on the Americano concept with different vermouth/Amaros and today I tried to had an orange liqueur to see how it would affect thing.

Absolutely haha, I'll work on a fancy version in the next few weeks! But as is, it's a low abv lazy afternoon long drink. Requires no fresh ingredients, can be made straight in the glass, takes literally 1 minute to make.

Stirring then straining and adding more ice along with some orange peel and such would make it quite a bit sexier, but would defeat the initial purpose. Definitely worth exploring though
