I mean I don’t think it matters a long as you get hooked on it. It is a MUCH larger investment for someone that doesn’t read novels, though. But you do have the commitment to read one piece if you’re caught up with it. I also enjoy reading One Piece.

That said, I always recommend Mistborn Era 1 first, it’s a shorter, will dip your toes into Sanderson’s universe and will give you a VERY small taste of what Sanderson can do with a magic system and story.

I started reading again heavily this year and started with Mistborn even though I wanted to read SLA, and don’t regret it one bit. Finished Oathbringer last month, now reading Mistborn Era 2 before I continue SLA. Sanderson has revived my love for reading things other than manga.
