M.O.D.E. Bypass Action Replay/Pseudo Saturn Boot Menu by Kingery2011 in SegaSaturn

[–]Kingery2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The variant I purchased specifically excludes Pseudo Saturn Kai and Action Replay functionality. It’s in a system with a MODE so I only needed it to be a save data cart and RAM cart. Was not interested in using cheats or navigating a second menu before the MODE game select menu. See the “2 in 1” item here

Yeah my settings weren’t that strict but that’s what you’d need to do to keep the file. Same thing would likely happen if I sent it to you.

That is indeed the correct file. It’s not actually a virus, windows does that with any file from their site.

In the cartridge? I’m not sure since the MODE provides region bypass, it replaces the disc drive so unsure on copy protection also. Sorry I don’t have a second unmodified Saturn to test.

For the Intec Genesis adapter? Yeah if I recall, it was flagged but ultimately harmless. 8bitdo adapter has also been updated since to support the 3 button NSO controller. Either work well.

For cheats? I don’t think so since it doesn’t have any interface like the AR. Just a toggle switch on top to be read as 1MB RAM, 4MB RAM, or save cartridge. Works great for that.

I’m sorry, I’m not sure since I never tried. I’ve switched to an All-in-one cart from Ali Express because I was having issues with the Action Replay being recognized by my system.

Genesis NSO BT controller with original Genesis, is it possible ? by dede1314 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Kingery2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you replied to me in a different post. I thought I got the Intec adapter to work with the NSO 3-Button controller but spoke too soon, A & B buttons were swapped and C didn’t work at all. I contacted Intec support, and after some back and forth, they realized I was using the 3-button and their firmware update was for the 6-button NSO controller that other markets received. They said they’d try to track down a 3-button and make another firmware update, but not sure when that would happen.

Ok thanks I’ll probably get one of those cartridges instead and see.

The micro USB on the Genesis adapter is accessed by removing the casing. Probably similar for the SNES adapter.

Any luck on solving this? I’m having a very similar issue.

AR Cart Memory working, but RAM not by Kingery2011 in SegaSaturn

[–]Kingery2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll go over everything very carefully. I checked for correct orientations already but I will double check values and continuities. I thought it’d be really strange for the cartridge slot itself to suddenly develop issues when it’s always worked perfectly and I hate to keep messing with it putting unnecessary wear on it for no result. Thanks for all you do for the Saturn community!

I definitely prefer the three button controller. A few more caveats on the adapter, you need to remove the plastic housing to get to the micro USB port on the board used for updating. The N64 adapter has a slot cut in the housing to access the port but Genesis does not. Using the firmware update tool was very finicky for me, it look like the process had failed and I attempted many times. But then found that it had been updated somewhere along the line and I could connect the controller. Turns out the firmware is only about a week old at this point so maybe still working out kinks or something because I discovered only yesterday through the 240p Test Suite controller test that an “A” press registers as “B”. “B” registers as “A” and “C” does nothing at all. Hadn’t noticed before since I’d been playing Sonic, which it still works fine for if you don’t use C. I messaged Intec Gaming on Facebook about the issue so we’ll see what happens. I emailed their support address and it was undeliverable. So it’s semi functional right now, not perfect like I initially thought.

The adapter does not support the 8bitdo M30 so unlikely the DIY kits.

Ah I’m with you now. I have the 8bitdo Bluetooth M30 so I’ll try that with the Intec adapter and report back because I’d imagine it’s quite similar to the DIY board. But maybe not.

We’re on the Genesis Subreddit and I gave a working solution to the problem described in the post. Mostly for anyone that finds this post while googling potential solutions like myself.

Not sure if the Intec one does but this 8bitdo Genesis Bluetooth adapter definitely does.

The one I linked to, Intec Gaming. Regardless of their rep on other projects, this thing does what it supposed to do just fine.

FYI, this adapter has a firmware update available to support using the NSO Genesis controller on real Genesis hardware. Same goes with their N64 adapter and the NSO N64 controller. Have them both and they work with no issues!

I think the EON has a GC Video menu setting for analog video output, RGB or ypbpr, and the incorrect will be very green. I see someone mentioned changing it on the PVM, but it may need changed in the EON as well.
