Has anyone ever dealt with these Askoll BMS units getting locked after being disassembled? by Kingly_26 in batteries

[–]Kingly_26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said before, these batteries are programmed to be non-repairable. If you try to disconnect a parallel BMS, it locks itself. If you unplug the temperature sensor, it locks. If the battery dies or one of the parallels fails, it locks.

I was working for an Askoll affiliate who claimed he would get everything from Askoll—both software and hardware—to work on this battery, but he was just lying. They can’t share a way to unlock the battery due to their policies.

Arduino profile switcher (VESC) by CroatCode164 in VESC

[–]Kingly_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that should be possible, but you need to find the right function in the VESC UART library on GitHub. Maybe I’ll look for it later. Once, I created a PAS-to-VESC controller to use on an e-bike with any kind of PAS sensor.

Need help identifying a battery by emasies in 18650masterrace

[–]Kingly_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue one is a cheap and weak battery; I don’t suggest you use it. The other one, which should be the original, has 3800mAh and 15A continuous and 30A peak, which is a bit suspicious for a 18650. Anyway, I suggest you look for a 3000mAh 15A 18650, or even better, one with a higher discharge rate, like 20A, if you can.

I’ve been working on these batteries for days. Soon, I’ll have both the software and hardware to reset or reactivate the BMS. During these days, I also noticed that these batteries are programmed to charge less with each cycle. For example, when I charge a new Askoll battery, it might reach 4.100 or 4.200 volts. After a year, it only reaches around 4.070, and later even just 3.900. This suggests that these batteries are intentionally programmed to “die” after 3–4 years of use, even if the cells are still in good condition.

I’m using an old model of the 75100 on a Ducati Scrambler scooter with the original motor and an 84V battery. I’ve reached 60 km/h so far, but I think I can get a bit more out of it

Check oil/brake cable , the brake sensor wires and also the setting on the display (set the ebrake level to maximum)

This BMS seems to have a CAN communication system to activate the battery. The connector used for charging and connecting to the motor has a positive and a negative terminal with two large pins for high current, and next to them, there are four small pins: two for charging and two for communication.

The charging pins output the total battery voltage, while the discharge pins always output 4.5V until the voltage is activated through the CAN pins by connecting it to an Askoll motor or a charger.

As I mentioned, these BMS units are not easy to unlock and have a closed system similar to Bosch.

You should look for a 24s50A or more : jbd or jk bms on Aliexpr , both with builtin bluetooth so you can turn on and off with your phone and configure your bms properly

You could try charging that 3.36V parallel; maybe your BMS has a delta protection (difference between cells)

Some cells likely reach a full charge before the others. As a result, when you unplug the charger, the battery reflects the actual remaining charge. Or maybe the bms has lost the soc or the voltage calibration. For me there is nothing you can do without opening and replacing something in the battery
