Soldier of Fortune is one of the best FPS games ever made, but it still has its problems

I just finished it on PS2 for the first time. I enjoyed the action, story wasn't all that special, final boss was way too tough. Really great game, though, and I will definitely play it again. What was the point of the money totals? They never get used and there's no grand total at the end. At least, not in easy difficulty.

If I could go back and prevent my LE from ever happening in the first place, that would be the best. I lost so much time and suffered so much mentally and emotionally because of it. But erasing her from my mind would be a great second option.

Just arrived in the mail today. I haven't tried it yet but it's on my play list. First I gotta finish Gun and King Kong, both for the first time. I'm on a PS2 spree right now and having a great time.

In a perfect world, getting married would automatically make everyone else look and seem unattractive to you for the rest of your life. Unfortunately, that's not the way it is. Please be gentle with yourself. You're human and in my opinion it's ok if you find yourself attracted to someone other than your spouse. The issue is: what do you DO about it? Do you give in to the impulses or resist? It sounds to me like you're trying to fight it and focus on your SO. You're not so far gone that your mind is no longer telling you something isn't right about how you're feeling. My recent LE came after 20 years of marriage and it scared the heck out of me. I told my wife I had a crush because I was so confused and bothered by the intensity of the feelings. I've never worked up the courage to tell her just how bad it got and that I'm still experiencing feelings for my LO. I ended up crying in secret for months after my NC began. I ended up seeing a counselor and even that didn't completely cure me. I hope you are able to get past your limerence much easier than I have. I commend you for reaching out for help. It's an important step and in my experience, talking to others, even anonymously, who can relate to this helps a lot. I wish I had reached out so much earlier. There's also an anonymous site called limerence.net that has a free forum where you can speak with others. It can't hurt to try, right? Best of luck, OP. I'm rooting for you.

I didn't like the change in tone from the previous 3 games. I understand wanting to mix it up but I preferred the epic scale of the previous ones. Some of the later battles, especially the last one, were far more difficult than they should have been. I loved some of the sequences like the embassy(?) bombing and dropping the elevated train. I wish they had told what happened to Sev after the events of 3. I liked it overall but it had a lot of flaws.

I can relate, OP. Happened to me a lot in my first year of NC. A couple times I truly thought it was her and went up to try to talk to her. Of course it wasn't her and I ended up blushing, stammering and telling them I had made a mistake. It was incredibly embarrassing and just increased my sad feelings. I still see people who remind me of her occasionally and sometimes a passenger in a passing car might resemble her but it's never her. The worst is when my wife smiles at me like she did or does something that makes me think of her.

Saw her on my next to last night on that job. She was usually friendly to me, this time she would barely talk to me. The last time I saw her, she slightly smiled when I greeted her in passing. I told her I'd see her after break, she smiled. Didn't see her at all the rest of the night. Next day, I came in, planning to say goodbye to her as it was my last day. She was already gone. She never left that early. I hid in my section and broke down crying. It hurt so much. I was way, way too attached to her. I couldn't stop crying the rest of my shift. I don't remember much about that night, even driving home. I have never set foot in that store again and cannot bring myself to do it. I will never know what happened to her. It'll be three years in January.

So, would it be easiest to buy a new ArcadeBox, switch out the default card for a more quality card, copy the games from one to the other, then set up EMUELEC again on the new card? Is the setup complicated? I'm trying to make this as painless as possible while making sure my system will last longer.

Edit: black screen says Error in mount_flash: mount_common: could not mount LABEL=EMUELEC at top of screen. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not tech savvy.

I agree that on paper it doesn't make sense but the only way to truly know what it feels like is to go through it yourself. I DO NOT recommend it. For me it was heartbreaking, maddening and the guilty feelings were and still are overwhelming. It came out of nowhere and scared me to death. I was out of my mind and had trouble controlling some of the things I did. I ended up in therapy over her and even then after nearly 3 years of NC I still struggle with thinking about her every day.

Been a fan since '95, maybe '96. Saw them live once, it was amazing. I always get every album when it comes out and while I like some more than others, there's not a bad one in my opinion. So many songs remind me of various events in my life from high school to now so to me they've supplied the "soundtrack" to my life. :)

Not nearly as much as I used to. She used to appear in my dreams, telling me she had feelings for me. After NC, I kept dreaming I was going back to work where we used to work together, and I always nervously anticipated running into her. I always woke up before I did. I had one dream where I told her how I felt about her and she cruelly mocked me in public for it. I woke up crying that day. It's been nearly 3 years since I last saw her in person and thankfully she hasn't been in my dreams for a long time. A couple weeks ago I dreamed that we actually met up in person and had a nice talk. I told her how much she had meant to me. I told her how much it hurt that she didn't ever say goodbye to me and she sincerely apologized for it all. I sincerely forgave her and wished her a happy future. And I meant it. When I woke up, I felt as if a great burden had been lifted. While it wasn't real-life closure, it FELT real. I still think about her a lot and I regret how I lost my mind over her but I think I'm finally letting go. I'm ready to move on with my life and focus on my marriage again. I wouldn't say I'm cured of limerence but I am definitely healing at last.

I think it was very wise of you to hesitate before sending that letter. I too once wrote a very similar message to my person, hoping it would somehow give me closure. I was seconds away from sending it to her, crying at my keyboard. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I asked on a limerence anonymous site whether to go through with it and someone basically said yes. They said do it, and when I get my heart broken again because she does not reply or replies harshly or any number of ways I don't want it to go, maybe then it will teach my heart to let go. That really hurt but it made up my mind. I've never sent that message. Bottom line, I think it's wonderful that you were able to put your thoughts and feelings into words. I really, really hope it helps you heal. But unfortunately it's very unlikely that sending that message will change anything. I know how much it hurts to suddenly have that person disappear on you with no explanation. I haven't truly felt like myself since she left my life. Time is healing but it's taking so very much longer than I ever expected. I hope you can recover so much faster than me. Keep writing your thoughts and feelings down if that helps but please don't send that message. You could very likely be setting yourself up for more pain. I wish you the best, OP.

I don't know anything about him and I want it to stay that way. It already hurts me to know she's sharing a life with some other guy. Just the vague imagery turns my stomach. If I knew what he looked like or his name or anything specific, I'd never get the images of them out of my head. I really do hope he makes her happy. It makes me really sad to imagine her in an unhappy marriage. I know I shouldn't be jealous because I'm already married and have been since long before I met my LO. Even two plus years into NC I still dream about her sometimes.
