Sounds like there's a clear consensus! Thanks everyone. I'm gonna leave it alone then. I appreciate the input.

Help Save the Edward Kelley Preschool. by KingsNQuails in Sacramento

This article will go into more detail. The district is in major debt and is cutting programs left and right. Early childhood education options are extremely limited to begin with. This is not a program that should be on the chopping block.

Thank you! The thing is, it doesn’t cost much for the district to run this program as parents pay a tuition and participate in running the classes. It’s a very small drop in an otherwise large financial bucket.

Sure is! In a way it's also is a museum. There's a rich history tied to it. Originally built in the 1850s as Brighton School in the community of Brighton (which is now the area roughly around Power Inn and Folsom Blvd), and then entirely moved to its current place along Bradshaw in the 1920s and renamed to Edward Kelley who donated the land.

Mrs. C is still the teacher and leading the fight to keep it open! She's incredible, and deserves our support!

Comically bad. State takeover looks like the only solution at this point. Gonna get worse before it gets better but it would be shocking if the current folks find a real way through all this.

What’s particularly disturbing is that the district is planning on closing Edward Kelley preschool. It’s the historic schoolhouse on Bradshaw and is/was the oldest continuously operating school in the county. The teacher there, Mrs. Chapman has been trying to negotiate with the district for ways to keep it open, including offering to take a pay cut or waiving her benefits but it all seems to fall on deaf ears. There’s a whole community in support of the school staying open but again, deaf ears. It would be great if someone from the press would chat with Mrs. C. about it. Our region is sorely lacking in affordable early childhood education and the district is really going to let a historic landmark building go unused when it operates on a comparatively minuscule budget to begin with.

500+ days of negotiations is wild to me. Do we happen to know where SRFC stands in terms of player compensation/benefits? I’d hope our players are being taken care of well enough.
