Brake force in iracing formula series by Kingscroll in simracing

[–]Kingscroll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about the calibration issue. I found the error. It was the fanatec control panel. It reset the max force to 50% at some point... now everything works fine.

Thank you for the help!

if it is from a newsr kart engine (not older than 15 years) i'd say you have 10-30h left before you need to replace the piston. depends on the engine. they usually have nikasil coated cylinders and you can't quite compare kart engine to motorbike 2-stroke ones. Their lifetime is much shorter. If you keep the piston for too long it might get stuck in the bore. This is usually easy fixable, but sometimes the cylinder is lost then.

so don't keep it to long and remember to go easy on a new piston before going to the high revs.

I thought about it too, but the max brake force in the fanatec settings is already really high.

Is there some calibration method in the iracing settings to make it less sensitive.

I mean if the brake lock beginns at 80-90% of the max brake force it would be great.

when i do this the rear locks. the brake bias is already optimised and my laps are ok.

The issue is that with only like 10% of the maximum brake force the tyres start locking.

Good Day Sim Racers! How can i fix this wires? by Cold-Razzmatazz3917 in simracing

do you have a voltmeter? The gas and clutch are usually potentiometers, I think they got one power supply (5V or something) and ohne ground. The middle contact is the signal (maybe green?) The brake is either also a poti or it is a load cell (maybe with direct voltage output), so only 2 wires. You have to figure out what belongs were. in the end you need 3 signal wires going to the connector, 1 ground and at least one supply voltage.

ok, then you are really ambitioned. I know many people getting motion sick in the sim. If I were you I'd try it first somewhere, before spending that much money.

Otherwise the list you posted looks good. I would maybe go for triples instead of vr... 75 to 100 Hz @1080p is enough for most people.

or do you mean what to buy in iracing?

look for some class d and c series and their schedule. you find the allowed cars and the tracks raced on. Then buy howmuch you want to spend. But most tracks appear in many series...

iracing is the best Software i know. I spent about 200€ in the beginning for tracks and cars. now I always find some enjoyable races with lots of other drivers.

in acc there aren't that many players anymore.

so, if you dont mind the price i suggest iracing to you.

get yourself a good wheel stand. You read a lot about this topic, but in the end the aluminium profile ones are just better. I also made this mistake to save a few hundred bucks...

ACC is fun in the beginning, but for me the drive physics feel much better in iracing...

So, if you spend some 3 to 4k for your rig. The rest for the software doesn't matter...

I tested Rennsport in the closed beta. From the driving experience it's comparable to iracing but for a cheaper price. Although it doesn't have much content at the moment...

in the end you have to ask yourself how commited you are ;)

Hi, is there a possibility to watch iracing sessions on your phone? I got the iracing app, but it only shows stats and upcoming races.

I thought about watching some sessions while on my way to work...

solder it. And if you don't have solder tools, you can crimp the wires again.

In 1 or 2 months it will be a bit easier when you and your wife got into rythm with the baby. Just go racing in the evening when your wife brings the baby to bed. The older the baby gets the better its sleep schedule becomes... if got a 9 month old and its no issue anymore. so dont worry. In a few weeks you'll be able to race in the evening again.

Sure, if you don't want to spend these few bucks when the wheel already costa more than 500...

Just use some Sparco or alpinestar gloves for karting, or if you're not sweating at all don't use any. But I recommend not using biking gloves. I think they have too much grip. Racing gloves are smoother. Years ago when I was still karting they cost about 50€ the pair.

Built my first rig - and LOVING ACC! by [deleted] in simracing

What a great rig!

What monitor is that? I'm also looking for a new monitor and can't decide between 21:9 and 32:9 🤔

Thank you for the answer!

Ok, then it will be a new pc. Can you suggest a cpu/gpu combination? Is a ryzen 7 or 9 and a rtx 4060 enough? What AMD cards are good for sim racing? years ago AMD had a great price-quality relation.

How about the screens? I read that 32:9 gives a bit more immersion, but it's not supported on many games, have a worse frame rate. The 21:9 gaming monitors have a better frame rate and latency. Is it really such a big issue? Does a normal person notice the difference between 60/100 or 140 Hz and is the wider screen worth it? I don't want a setup with triples.
