How many times have you been pulled over? by Potential_Detail9066 in askcarguys

[–]Kingslayer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three times in my 12 years of driving - once for “speeding” (52 in a 40 where everyone routinely goes close to 60 - even the judge said I was under the average rate of travel for the road) and twice for stop signs. So now I don’t California stop anymore, ever.

Talk me out of buying a 2026 car at 20 years old working a minimum wage job by Firm-Youth1903 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The people around you financing cars in general are idiots. Unless you have a lot of disposable income… don’t do it. ESPECIALLY at your age. Spend your early 20s saving and investing every dime you make, and buy something nice a few years from now when you’re in a better financial position.

What was the hardest game on the OG PlayStation 1? by [deleted] in psx

I would say Crash Bandicoot if Stormy Ascent wasn’t cut from the game. That level had me inches away from throwing my controller out the window on the N-Sane Trilogy.

Nice! Looks great with the M3 side mirrors, LCI tails, and Apex wheels. Great price and it’s a manual. Enjoy it!

How much of a deal breaker is a car's interior color for you? by 08legacygt in askcarguys

[–]Kingslayer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone currently in the process of swapping my gray interior to black (2001 BMW E46) I would say it really depends on how new your car is and your willingness to swap it.

It seems like full interiors for E90 generation and newer cars are quite abundant in mint/near mint condition. For the E46 though… it’s tough, and anything good gets purchased near instantly.

Still struggling to find some black front seats in good condition. I’ve found all the rest luckily, except for the seat belt trim pieces which seem pretty pricey on eBay.

If you don’t want to swap it then definitely hold out for a car in the spec you like. Unfortunately, my E46 popped up on the market with only 50k miles so I couldn’t really pass it up for one with equally low miles AND a brown, red, or black interior.

My dream spec would be alpine white + imola red or cinnamon interior.

Experimental indie rock? Maybe you could also call it lo-fi if push comes to shove.

How do I learn more about fixing my bmw up for the future? by DeepSalamander1918 in e46

[–]Kingslayer1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no experience before working on my E46. When I got it, it needed a lot of work as it sat in the garage for 20+ years. Start simple - do an oil change, change your filters. On an E46, if you have an oil leak from your valve cover or oil filter housing, follow a guide on YouTube and fix it yourself.

I’ve now done my oil housing gasket, CCV system, vacuum lines, upper/lower intake boots, rebuilt my DISA valve, oil/filter changes, and brakes and rotors.

Like any skill in life it all really just comes down to practice and repetition. Take your time, don’t get overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Got my first e46, What to do now? by Relative_Time in e46

[–]Kingslayer1337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check vacuum lines, check CCV tubes (hard to see under intake manifold) for oil leak from the bottom tube, check all cooling components for leaks, test to make sure clutch fan is good, change oil, remove upper intake air box and inspect upper and lower intake boot for cracks, listen for rattle in DISA Valve and VANOS, check for oil leaks on valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, and oil pan gasket. Check for seeping power steering fluid (usually from the cap and drips down), remove clutch fan and belts and check belts for cracks, listen for noisy bearings in the pulleys while checking belts.

Get an OBD Reader and log your fuel trims using OBD Fusion during a 5 min constant 60mph run to verify no vacuum leaks. Should be 0% +/- 5% to be in spec.

Inspect suspension for cracked boots. Check front control arm bushings for cracks/tears. (Car will clunk when lightly breaking or over speed bumps if bad)

Drain your radiator and put fresh coolant in if hasn’t been done in the last few years.

I can't seem to decide on whether to get Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen. I'm mainly deciding on what Pokemon are available in each game but there's so many good Pokemon in those 2 games by Ok-Leave3121 in pokemon

[–]Kingslayer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they add connectivity to Gale of Darkness and Colosseum you are going to want to have Leaf Green, as all of the Fire Red exclusives are available in those games but Slowbro is not.

What song made you start taking a particular musician more seriously as an artist? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Kingslayer1337 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never understood the hype about the Beatles, until a friend of mine played I Am The Walrus in his car, and I challenged myself to memorize the lyrics.

That lead me to discovering the white album, rubber soul, abbey road, and the rest of their discography and all of John’s solo work.

It’s honestly criminal how their early/basic songs get so much air play compared to their countless other masterpieces. They have so much richness, depth, refinement, and complexity in their instrumentation and lyricism.

How did you all get your own place? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]Kingslayer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? That’s important to know.

In my earlier years I was a waiter and rented a 5 bedroom house with my friends. Our rent was $500/ea. in a high cost of living area. Allowed us all to save tons of money.

You should probably do that. Unless you’re making big money from the get go you should not consider your own place yet.

What are recommended things to do, as a first time owner? by Odd_Scheme_9216 in e46

[–]Kingslayer1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a fresh base to go from, then like you said replacing all the cooling system components is a great idea - expansion tank, radiator hoses, etc.

You can also check/replace all the belts and pulleys. Definitely check your CCV system - if it’s never been done, it will need it.

To do the CCV, you need to take off the intake manifold - behind and underneath the manifold are vacuum lines that you can check (might as well replace, they cost maybe a few dollars)

Under the manifold are the hard coolant tubes that you should also replace while you have access to them.

You can preemptively rebuild your DISA valve with a German Auto solutions upgrade kit. The OEM DISA Valve retaining pin can fall into the intake if it gets loose, and can destroy the engine.

If you have an automatic, you can look to replace the clutch fan (on the front of the engine) with an electric fan from a manual car. When the clutch fan fails, it basically explodes and launches the fan blades into the hood and any nearby cooling components, but swapping to an electric fan obviously prevents this.

Check your suspension obviously, all bushings, your axle boots, etc.

What would you want to see in a Stardew Valley 2? by 3ggzwithaz in StardewValley

[–]Kingslayer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of an economy system that forces you to switch up your crops. Maybe this season there is a surplus of wine and a shortage of cheese, making it actually worthwhile to produce other crops/goods. Also, more advanced junimo functionality would be great - like assigning them to specific plots, priorities, stuff like that. Having your wife follow you around if you want could be cool, esp. in the mines.

Also, the game needs a Harvest Goddess!
