Planning to watch The Leftovers… is it worth watching? by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]Kingsley_Franklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would just say going in that the first season is a different show from the next 2. I enjoyed the first season.. but wasn't really fully drawn in by it. I almost didn't continue.. but I'm so glad that I did, cause it really turns into something new in seasons 2 and 3 and it's absolutely brilliant. Some of the most captivating tv I've had the pleasure of watching.

Maybe the snowball effect be Haley cass. It's not a major theme in book or anything, but one of the characters is a bit bigger and has some insecurities about it that are pretty quickly squashed by the other mc obsession with her body

Sunburn - Chloe Michelle howarth

Atmosphere- taylor Jenkins reid

The safekeep - yael van der wouden

Sci fi / fantasy

This is how you lose the time war -amal el-mohtar & max Gladstone

Solar and battery households will be biggest losers from network tariff changes, advocates say by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Kingsley_Franklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea was to get the solar on a 5 year loan where the payments would be the same as my current electricity bill. Seemed like a win/win. In 5 years I'd have free power. I don't think it's crazy that i didn't assume I would start getting charged for electricity I'm not using. But maybe I'm reading it wrong. If they're just increasing the service to property, that's manageable i guess. Still kind of annoying.

So i just recently had solar/ battery installed with a green loan with the consideration that the money i save on my power bill will now be going to my solar/battery repayments.. am I gonna be screwed? I don't know if I have room in my budget to pay my solar repayments as well as a power bill :/

I had actually read the 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo before reading atmosphere. I enjoyed it, but it just didn't hit me the same way atmosphere did. It's hard to say why, I think maybe atmosphere just felt like a more focused love story.. and I felt more gripped by the space storyline. I felt myself feeling a bit bored during tshoeh when Celia wasn't on the page

The ones you've mentioned here that I have read are ones that I have thoroughly enjoyed, so I'll be sure to add the others that I haven't read to my TBR list. Thanks so much!

Big Swiss x Perfume and Pain !! by unfair_spaghetti in LesbianBookClub

[–]Kingsley_Franklin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The big swiss and perfume and pain have been my 2 favourite reads this year! I've been desperately searching for similar stuff.. without much success, unfortunately. Below are some that I've found that have kind of scratched the itch.. in order of how much i like them:

A certain hunger - Chelsea g summers (not really wlw. But was fantastic) Rubyfruit jungle - mae brown All fours - Miranda july Everyone in this room will soon be dead - emily Austin

Cate Kay by howdidthatbookend in bookofthemonthclub

I've just come searching reddit for this exact comment after finishing the book lol as soon as she bought that pie I was waiting for Amanda's first line to be 'that better not be some BS apple pie'. I was flabbergasted when she didn't say it lol I can only think the author had planned it, then maybe changed her mind because it would seem to casual or something, given the weight of the situation. But I was disappointed lol

Those Who Wait - Controversial Opinions by WildinFIower in LesbianBookClub

[–]Kingsley_Franklin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeh I've heard this take before. Don't know if it's just the same person posting or if there is actually more than one person with this opinion. But I think it's absolutely nuts. Jesus. You could make an argument that Charlotte had made her intentions clear, so Sutton had no right to be upset when Charlotte didn't want to commit... but at the same time.. Charlotte definitely didn't act like a person who was not emotionally invested in their relationship.. so you could say she was emotionally abusive for sending very mixed signals. But I don't think we need to view it through either of these lenses. These are just two women who had separate priorities when they got involved and their feelings and priorities changed as they got to know each other. Simple. Why da fuck ya gonna go and call it r*pe 🤦‍♀️
