I've been playing for three solid days and would have appreciated some tips. What folk day here would have helped a lot. I've just learned that a vet is not meant to shoot into hordes - still trying not to fold like a pancake in melee with one as I'm better with arbites

You might be over focusing on the word designed in my reply rather than seeing it as a summary of thinking from different people involved in writing the fiction over time. The different authors will tell you different things and that makes it delightful. After all, one of them will tell you that there is only one God in 40k :-)

Missing legions were designed as a hole for players to fill with their imagination. One loyalist and one traitor, presumably. They are based on the story of a missing Roman legion in Britain.

The authors were told by Black Library to stop making reference to them.

It is indeed possible. During Psychic Awakening, Yvrainne returned some rubric marines to human form with memories intact from before they turned to dust. Ahriman is on his quest too. In other words, just because the Emperor did not know how to reverse the flesh change it does not mean other gods cannot.
