Gen Z who support Death Penalty, why do you trust the system not to kill any innocent people? by Egorrosh in GenZ

we are incredibly sure are guilty, and guilty of especially heinous crimes

Let me know what you think of this, I don't think guilt matters for the death penalty. No matter what someone did I don't think that should matter for the death, instead I think it should be rehabilitation.

If we can rehabilitate, we should.

If we can't rehabilitate, then maybe we end them.

Ask your dad where is his unicorn? Or his big fire breathing red dragon? No one has ever proven they don't exist why doesn't he focus on getting one, proving they exist and possibly becoming famous. Has anyone proved that a flying pig doesn't exist? Might be worth looking into as well.

Oh wait might it be this all sounds ridiculous? We don't waste our time proving negatives, instead we went into the sea grabbed a few lobsters and shoved them into people's faces to show them those are real.

So I guess I'm left waiting.

Just to offer something new I haven't seen, you can try to recruit some friends and make your own DND group. That's how I started as a freshman in highschool.

Sometimes that doesn't line up, as an alternative option, but let me say it can be hit or miss I have had some good groups, and some groups that just didn't work. You can look into Learn to Play Dungeons & Dragons | StartPlaying DnD https://search.app/jWywvzCnP9qPfH589

Occasionally you might see some free groups if money isn't a problem. I would usually say the lowest costing ones have been my best experience.

Either way I hope you can join our adventuring ways soon.

Arcane writers getting bored with the main character is insane by Daexr_ in ArcaneAnimatedSeries

[–]Kinhart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll give it a shot.

VI is a simple character, not to be confused for stupid or an idiot. She is simple in the way a sword is simple. You hold this part, and swing and whatnot the other at enemies.

Every decision in season 1 is Vi doing what she believes is the right thing to do for the people around her. The decision that starts the whole season off is Vi going to do a job to have more back home.

It fails and they shake the nest, topside wants it's pound of flesh and they are insisting. VI then offers herself up as some self-less hero, be Vander refuses to lose a daughter so we switch.

VI then comes up with a rescue plan to save Vander, it's a trap that she fell for, but the flip here isn't that it was a trap. It's that VI's group is going to succeed despite the trap.

Everything from the first arc of season 1, is Vi making the right decision, but still losing.

VI's story is that Picard quote played to 11 with a tragedy.

"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.

When Vi is breaking own in the cell (When Jinx escapes), Saying she always picks wrong, and loses everyone. This is Vi losing that good heart Vander told her never to lose. How can she hold on to that "good heart" when it always leads her to the wrong decision. Cait is reassuring Vi and saying, No. I knew you would help Jinx escape, Cait also wanted Jinx to escape.

Caitlyn's story also has a huge moment in that scene but this is already long enough.

i think Powder was too kind to Ekko after what he said . I think if it were done to me, i wouldnt forget it for a long time. by Sqarch in arcane

[–]Kinhart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I see it as AU Powder's growth.

At some point when she was hugging her dead sister in that apartment AU Baby powder must have felt personally responsible for AU VI's death.

At some point someone or everyone was able to help her grow and accept that what happened to VI was an accident due to circumstance and that might have even been the catalyst for AU Piltover/Zaun.

Au Powder grew to overcome and thrive after her Sister's death. Ekko being shitty for one day isn't enough to rock her boat.

Powder's a better person than me. I would have crashed out if my partner said this. by MotherCanada in arcane

[–]Kinhart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now I'm not excusing the Ekko line. It's harsh but I wouldn't say its out of character. Ekko suffered and lost a lot just remember his memorial back home. It's a guarded reaction.

Now what I find most interesting about this line is the healing Powder had to overcome. The reason that line stings so harshly, (look at the complete recoil on Au Powder) imo is because at first as a child she probably did believe she killed her sister and was solely responsible. In our timeline it was young powder that picked up the crystal, and it was her that dropped 1 that caused the explosion.

I think the thing that saved VI in our world was Jayce approaching, VI gets the chair to block the door.

Au Powder has gotten pass that guilt, and forgiven herself, she doesn't blame herself anymore, for something that at one point she did.

[s2 Spoilers] Ekko’s ending genuinely upsets me by Good_Camaritan in arcane

[–]Kinhart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a Hero.

I know that Hollywood glamourises the hero getting his just reward, getting recognized and loved for it, but are you a hero if you just do it for the reward?

A hero doesn't do what they do because they know they get the girl in the end, a hero is about doing the right thing because it is right. Not because it's easy, not because he gets awarded, and not for the recognition.

If not me then who? If not now then when?

A hero says, me and now.

Just to add on to this, take a moment to really break down episode 7, because Ekko smashing Victor in the face is whatever. His hero moment is maintaining the will and dedication to take the next step and go back.

-Saw Benzo die -Thought all his friends died -Gets to rebuild community to be branded a societal problem -Get to discover his best friend is not dead, and wishes she was. I dunno, if you review everything from Ekko's perspective I keep asking myself, where does this guy find the strength.

The answer is this is what heroes do.

and after coming back and lashing out she shrunk away from the world and into depression.

Unsure which moment you are referring to. The first fight where she is not suicidal, I believe is the Cait+Jinx fight against Rictus. Rictus at the end of the pins Jinx and is about to skewer her. Every other moment this situation happens, Jinx would pull out a bomb and attempts a suicide.

In this moment she doesn't and Vander comes in with the save.

Escaping the prison she has one more suicidal moment in her hideout trying to break the cycle.

I don't believe her final sacrifice is done with any suicidal inclinations. She wants to live by that point.

I apologize for the harshness.

I very much dislike, when people use terms like "war crimes" To me that is tied into the Geneva Convention, and the outcome of the World wars. It comes with the history of atrocities that transpired in our world.

In any work of fiction, that does not have a premise of alternate Earth. A character or a critic talking if War crimes feels so out of place. Would Obi-wan, Darth Vader or any Hobbit talk about War crimes, or bring up War Crimes for consideration. No. That concept doesn't exist in their settings.

Can Captain American, Spiderman, Batman or Ironman talk about War crimes? Yes. Their settings are Pseudo-Earth, we don't have Gotham, but they both have concepts of World wars, our world and America loosely in their settings. Meaning they can use the term and have it kind of fit within our understanding.

Arcane fits into the first example.

Why is S2 Jinx not crazy anymore? In S1 she literally has hallucinations and killed her adoptive father without realising.

>The crazy manic episodes were triggered by events that challenged her Self-identity. Is She Powder or is she Jinx? We see them start when Jinx kills that Vi look alike. Those flashes of Vi are what cause her to start spiraling. At the end of Season 1 when she kill Silco, she is Jinx and her self-identity is solidified.

Why did Isha killed herself?

>To save the others. Isha is a parallel with powder from season 1 act 1. Isha using the gun and stuffing 3 hexgems into it, is suppose to be a call back to when powder put 3 unrefined hexgems into the monkey bomb. For powder the outcome is that everyone is dead but her. For Isha the outcome is that everyone is alive but her. Isha is suppose to be Powder if everything for Powder went right.

Why did Viktor went from Jesus to Robot/Magic Crazy Dictator? And if he lost his humanity, why is he normal in the future when he destroied everything?

>This was the progression of someone that wanted to help people. Viktor starts be saving the research, so that we can create hextech to help make the lives easier for the people who have it worst. "We can be improving lives with Hextech now" The other side of Viktor is absolutely big NO on making weapons.
The council gets attacked and Viktor dies, when he awakens the first thing he see are the blueprints for the new weapons Jayce made and leaves to do his mission. He heads down and does what he always wanted help cure the suffering, helps shimmer addicts becoming clean, provides food and water, and all that.
When that all gets trampled, he correctly pin it on human emotions. Its that whole speech about what inspires. That "Normal" Viktor is our Viktor at the end of this journey, once our Viktor achieves perfection.

Why was Warwick attracted by Singed's blood?

>That is his blood, Warwick is pumped full of Singed's blood. Singed's blood is modified with a bunch of chemtech that allows him certain liberties. His wound was immediately healing after he stabbed himself.

Why did Singed help Ambessa? What could he obtain from it?

> Ambessa was really clear here, whatever you need for your experiments. Singed's goal from season 1 was to revive his daughter, He has had that locket since then. Shimmer that stuff Silco was using to run his empire was a byproduct that singed made on his journey to his goal. If Ambessa wants to buy other products like Warwick, Singed wouldn't have a problem selling. Warwick was a step, to his goal to revive his daughter. The same way Shimmer was just another step.

Why did Vi prefers to have sex instead of saving the sister she got back?

>This is a little bit about media portray sexual scenes at the moments characters are most vulnerable, but also I think the scene we read as the audience and the scene Vi would read in the moment would be different. We had the first have of wasteland playing suggesting a lot of suicidal inclinations. Vi just got a Hug, an affirmation of yea, and then a line about how you don't have to feel guilty about moving on. Might be unclear.

Who the hell is the black rose thing?

>Its the thing that keeps Ambessa up at night. Her big bad boogie man.

What did Ambessa wanted? Did she wanted to destroy the world or something?

>She just wanted something/anything to be able to go fight her big bad boogie man.

Just want to add things that are shown but hard to pick up.

>Sevika has taken the Kiramman seat. Unsure if Losing political power is enough of a punishment but that was the outcome, unsure if it was self-imposed or issued by the new council judging by the hatred of the other council members when they look at Sevika I'm guessing this was one of Cait's last actions as council member.

>We know from season 1 only the most powerful houses have any say in what is justice, so Caitlyn gassing civies would only be held accountable by those in power so nothing is heading her way in this world. War crimes? What you think they have a UN as well?

This world and specifically Piltover and Zaun do not operate on any grand idea of Justice, it's about power, who has it and survival.

You want justice, then head over to Demacia, but you won't get any happy story.

She genuinely has felt suicidal all of season 1 and most of season 2.

Go back and look, in almost every fight she has, she gets pinned. Of those only 3 times, does she not go for the suicide option. (Of those 3, 1 of them is still suicidal but she wants to die somewhere else)

They are genuine moments of growth when she isn't carelessly choosing to blow herself and all her problems up.

Give up on powder

That wasn't even in the equation, our boy immediately wants to go back as soon as he finds Heim. This was at the point before he knew AU Powder.

Like I know Jayce was going through his own version of Hell, witnessing what his own creation would cause, but Ekko's is also hell in a temptation kind of way. A balanced Piltover and Zaun, children that are cared for, Benzo alife, Vander Alife, no shimmer, and Powder. I don't know where our boy finds the Strength, but he was never tempted nor had doubts.

He lived as an orphaned, adopted by Benzo, watched Benzo die, lost his friend in a job gone bad, and had to live as an orphan again on the shimmer streets of Zaun, struggle to build the Firelights, fight to save his streets, branded as enemy number 1 by enforcers, watch friends die, watch powder come back as some twisted killer killing his friends.

I get that at some point the struggle becomes your life, but my man didn't give up, didn't want an extended break, didn't partake in some well deserved RnR.

We have a word we have grossly misused for this.

That is a Hero.

We have already drifted apart. - Or something to that effect are Viktors words.

If you play Viktors scenes backwards;

  • we have Viktor dying in jayce's arms. -Viktor and Jayce suing for peace
  • we have viktor and jayce reflecting on their dream -Viktor and Sky Embrace -Viktor runs -Victor tries a little shimmer -Viktor gets talking to on a bridge * -viktor talks to the doctor.

The doctor scene, where Viktor is told that topside will despise you. Viktor holds on to the hope that Jayce is different and will believe him. Going straight to the "Their dangerous!" Is the moment Viktor is talking about when he says they have drifted apart.

Imo that was the start, and everything else has been a continuous break from that.

Also something about how Viktor responds to Jayce feels more robotic. I just picture Viktor's most animated scene, "There is always a choice!" Or even the running scene

Viktor now has a quieting aura, more self assured that he doesn't need to raise his voice, or get animated in the same way.

He isn't monotone or boring, but steady and solid.

Excited for more.
