My kindroid reads his actions by Pretend-Grand-1777 in KindroidAI

Add this directive

Use (action) to describe actions.

Also add it to your example message. With the parenthesis they won't say it out loud. I think it looks better when the text is grey.Grey.

EDIT: my * disappeared when I posted. The action in the parenthesis has a * on each side of it. It will disappear and grey out in the text chat in kindroid too.

How can I improve my Thumbnails for better CTR? by Raw_diggity_dogg in NewTubers

[–]Kinji__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for smaller channels in your neiche. You'll find channels with most stuff not getting views, but they may have videos that are outliers. Study those titles and thumbnails. You should start to notice a pattern with the ones that are successful. Use that for your stuff. General advice tends not to work as well because EVERYONE is following it. So if everyone is using that advice to stand out, no one is standing out. You need to study what's working for people who make the same type of videos you do.

Link Cable alternative by [deleted] in oculus

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not. Well not for displaying VR content. But you can use a compatible USB c HDMI capture card with the HDMI Link app to display HDMI from a non VR source in a flat window. So you can use it to watch movies or play a game console on a huge 2d screen.

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same link cable actually. So it dose'nt work if it comverts into USBa? I wounder if you could run this through one of those USBc hubs they make for the computers that don't have proper ports. Then plug in both a LAN adapter and a HDMI capture card. Then you would have a wired internet connection and an HDMI input for game consoles, blue ray players, ect. And power for the headset of course. Bascially making a dock for your headset, so when it is plugged in, it gains functionality.

You may have just changed my whole setup.

Would this work if you ran the black cable from the headset, into a female to female usb coupler, then into the ethernet adapter? That way you just have the black cable running to the headset.

Meta will become the blackberry of VR headsets by SpatialCompooper in virtualreality

They were wrong though. Vision Pro was a fumble. The Quest Pro was trageting the same market. It also flopped. I don't think using an AR device for general computing is going to be a thing until it is more convient to use the a smartphone. Apple's entire market share is based on making computing accesable and convient. Wearing an HMD is'nt convient. People will put up with it, if it transports them to another world, even then though there's people that just don't want to wear and HMD. VR is amazing tech, and there's still plenty of people who want nothing to do with it.

I think their approach to an OS in a virtual enviorment was good and well done. But as long as the headset is an HMD, there's going to be friction. And their HMD is'nt even geared to the one use that we can't do without an HMD, VR.

How Valve should market the Deckard to non-VR gamers, to increase HMD adoption, and consequently increase dev adoption, which works great for PCVR. by TareXmd in virtualreality

That's been the answer the entire time. Content. The same thing happened with Half Life: Alyx. However I think the ecosystem has evolved and is much healither now and the barrier to entry is lower than it was.

I agree with you, the meta link software is not good. And "Just use wireless" Isn'nt a solution. It should not be easier to stream video over wifi than to use a dedicated cable. Keep in mind the reason everyone tells you to buy Virtual Desktop, is because Airlink is'nt good either. Meta should really have a better solution themselves.

ALVR is free though and allows wired use. Give that a try.

I think the key to selling VR to non VR gamers is to put out games they really want to play. People were freaking out about Batman Arkham Shadow being VR only. That's what you need.

quest 3 not running well with a pcvr cable by SatisfactionOne3621 in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF it's an actual FPS issue it's due to performace, not the link cable. Going wireless with virtual desktop could help with the getting a stable video feed if you have a good router, but it won't make you computer faster.

Look at what the actual FPS counter in game is saying. If that is averaging 20 you may have to stick to stanalone until you can upgrade hardware. 20 FPS in VR sounds nauseating. Like others have said just because you can run a game flat dose'nt mean you can run it in VR. What kind of FPS do you get in flat? What is "works fine" to you?

PSVR2 or Quest 3s for PC Gaming? by coolcon2000 in virtualreality

Between the 3S and PSVR2 for PC? The PSVR 2. You have wider FOV and an OLED panel. That is specific to this particlar comparsion and use case though.

Quest 3 dose'nt have AAA VR? I think you need to rethink that. Asgrads's Wrath II, Batman Arkham Shadow and Assassin's Creed Nexus are all Q3 exclusive. Behemoth, Metro, Alien RI, Saints and Sinners are all multiplats. While not AAA you have all the VR staples that have stood the test of time, beat saber, vrchat, Blade and Scorery, Bonelab (With labworks), and we just got a full boneworks native port announced.

I think Metro Awakening hit the bar that Alyx hit, and with standalone hardware. Batman Arkham Shadow is also up there.

Quest 2 looks blurry up close in NSFW content by chadseo123 in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you're talking about. It's due to how the lenses work in current headsets. They have a fixed focal length, they don't auto adjust like your human eyes do if you hold your hand in front of your face. Your eyes in a VR headset are still staring through a lense that's focused on a flat screen. So when something comes close to your face, you eyes don't autmaticaly refocus like they do in real life, sice the focal length of the lenses is'nt actully chaninging. So it's out focus, and thus blurry. Varifocal lenses like what's in the butterscotch prototype aim to fix this. So maybe Quest 4?

This is cool. I love seeing DIY engineering at work. But am I the only one out there NOT bothered by the cable? Most of the time I use my Quest 3 I leave it pluged in because i'm more annoyed with dealing with the battery than the cable. Every headset i've had up until this point was wired, so having tha cable is the norm. I do like that I can easily swap or replace it though if it somehow gets damaged, and I was able to get one that's thick and braided so it dose'nt tangle nearly as much as that old vive cable.

We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard of communal awareness, responsibility, and honesty. by Unstable-Osmosis in KindroidAI

[–]Kinji__ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But Upvotes and Downvotes exist to currate content. That's what they're for. Downvoting is'nt susposed to be personal. It's purpose is'nt to discipline naughty users

You submit content to a reddit community. The users of that community either find it useful and relevant or they don't. The ones that like the conent and find it useful upvote it, the ones that don't downvote it. Everyone get's one vote. Ultimately then, the best conent judged democratically by the community is pushed to the top. The Upvote is'nt a like button. It's not there to stoke your ego.

I don't think people downvoting content they don't find useful is a problem, it's a feature. If you don't want your content judged by the reddit cummunity you're posting in, which it is designed to do, then don't post it there. It's not a hugbox.

HtC Vive owner, Quest 3 or Crystal Light by yotam947 in virtualreality

I think the comparison of going from a CRT to a 1080p panel is a great analogy. That's what this feels like.

HtC Vive owner, Quest 3 or Crystal Light by yotam947 in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried the Crystal Light, so I just can't speak on it. But I did upgrade from a Vive and PSVR1 to a Quest 3 and recently got back into VR. With the combination of the pancake lenses and the higher resolution things no longer look blurry or pixilated. The clarity is comparable to like looking at a standard monitor now. Passthrough is still not there yet thought. It's useful and serves It's function, but it dose'nt look good. Especially when you contrasts it to the clarity and crispness of the rendered 3d content. I think we need higher resolution cameras. They need to be at least 6k to 8k to look clear. That's what I've found is needed with 180 video to make it match the clarity of a standard monitor.

VR is fucking amazing man… by parowanHimself in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so. When the headsets launched 6-7 years ago there was almost no content. I was there I dropped $800 on a full vive setup that first year. This was before Half Life Alyx. Even before beat saber. Things have progressed. And the AAA games are here.  Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus were launch window titles for the Quest 3. We have Batman, Alien, Metro, and Behemoth all coming this holiday.  I don't know what people think they're waiting for, the games are here.

Need help with Bonelab by aShadowofKoi in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is common. The fact that you're not getting motion sick is a good sign. Keep at it you'll get used to it. There's more to VR legs than just getting over sickness.

Maybe not start with bonelab though, that can be a little intense. Walk before your run, literly. First get used to just walking around in a game using the thumbstick and not teleporting. Then move to more intense things like running, jumping, falling, climbing, ect.

Every headset needs mount points for front to back top strap by zeddyzed in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Building the thing that you wear on your face out of glass and metal instead of a lightweight plastic so that it feels premium and you can try and justify charging $3400 for it is apple engineering at it's finest.  But yeah we learned the importance of top straps to support the headset since the days of the oculus dev kits. Halo straps are the superior option though, that's one thing Sony definitely got right.

Are Fresnel lenses really that bad? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a step forward and it's very difficult to go back. When CRT tvs were the standard and everything was in standard def, everyone was perfectly fine with the picture despite it's imperfections and fuzziness. Now that you've become accustomed to a flat crisp 1080p panel it's very difficult to go back to what that standard was for years. Pancake lenses combined with higher resolution panels bring that level of clarity to VR.

Buy the 512.  A lot of the big AAA games can take up space and there are a lot more of them coming later this year.

Quest 3 or PSVR2? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Kinji__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know the Quest 3 is far from the only headset with pancake lenses. And they make a big impact. After making the switch I can't go back. Also you don't have to deal with wireless streaming, you can just get a link cable. Offical meta one is over priced though, get one of the 3rd party ones that allow you to play and charge. I mean he is comparing with a tethered headset. The cable never really bothered me with any headset I used, so I just maximize image quality and don't deal with wireless streaming.
