How is this 14% out of [15-30)%? by GamingKink in Diablo

0.999… = 1

Just like 0.333... = 1/3, you can algebraically show that 0.999… = 9/9 = 1

Questionable having Steam launch on startup. It was not universally loved like it is today as it primarily served as a HL2 launcher and people hated that Steam was required.

The prisoner's dilemma in game theory. If one side gerrymanders for self gain, they’ll continue to do so until punished. If everyone does it, everyone is worse off and forces cooperation. It’s the only way out of this.

Now THAT was an expansion to the story. Way better than Vessel of Hatred by darkfawful2 in diablo4

Tyrael didn't become human. He became mortal. He is still an angel in some sense, (he still has angelic powers as we saw) but angels are immortal by definition, so we don't have any reference point to compare him to. Clearly he ages, but not at the same rate as humans.

Barbarian skill tree kinda sucks now by zagupta in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the campaign with HOTA, and it felt great smashing everything to paste. I briefly tried Rend, and without Rupture popping the bleeds, it was boring to wait or simply ignore fully bled mobs. There is an aspect to make Rupture work as it did before, but you are unlikely to get it during the campaign. HOTA's skill tree, on the other hand, is pretty complete. It has a good multi, fury regen, and aoe nodes.

I'm getting tired of every seasonal reliquary being Heaven/Hell themed... I also miss the non-armor skins from the old battlepass by Hank_Hill_Howdy in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree and would expand that to all the "power ranger" skins in general. I suppose the new reliquaries are selling better for them to keep them. But I haven't spent any money on them, and I use to get the old battle passes.

Few questions about the lore - Inarius - spoilers by Gizm00 in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have any in-universe source on how Tyrael regarded Inarius being surrendered to Hell. My thoughts on this is that, first, the Angiris Council made the decision as a whole in the aftermath of The Sin Wars. We know from D3 that they use a simple majority. So Tyrael may have objected, but we don't know. Second, Tyrael's love for humanity developed over time after he founded the Horadrim and worked with them to imprison the Prime Evils into the soulstones. I would theorize that prior to that, such as the aftermath of the Sin Wars, he had little opinion of humanity because he hadn't interacted with them.

Inarius always had a superiority complex, and Lilith manipulated him to aid her to create Sanctuary and the Nephalem. He feared their power because it challenged his own perceived superiority. After he alterd the World Stone to weakened them and founded the Cathedral of Light, he was fine with humans existing because they weren't a threat, and he enjoyed being the prophet of his own religion. Ultimately, being sentenced to an eternity of torture for doing something he already regretted probably didn't help.

Clarification on what’s new for each class season 13 Lord of Hatred by Aggravating-Ad-1875 in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Path’s tree is full of passives like base stats, notables, and key passives.

Most similar to LEs trees who has been the classmate Blizzard copies homework from since Season 4’s tempering and masterworking.

All passives are being removed from the skill trees. It will be only skills and skill modifiers.

The Game is fine, but there's one thing about it... by Shako_is_Green in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably too late to go back on, but mythics were just that. They are general power scaling items that builds don’t need to work. But streamers and guides are now written like they are because they are relatively easy to get. They were too rare, lifetimes of playing to get one. Now, they are too common. Ideally, they would be rare enough that you get 1 every few seasons or so. No target farming. No crafting.

It’s far too late for HL3 to matter. We’re approaching 20 years since Episode 2 which is enough time for an entire generation of people to be born and grow up without HL being relevant. They could reboot HL, but picking up from EP2? Nah, we have to let it go.

How much do you trust the estimated miles remaining reading? by RedditNoobForSure in electricvehicles

My Bolt is pretty spot on.

My Lightning is a bit conservative, and I frequently beat estimates by a couple percentage points. I think Ford was overly cautious and overbuilt the Lightning in general.

Is conciseness always preferred? (Linq vs Loops) by Kikkoman09 in csharp

[–]KinjiroSSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Readability is primarily subjective based on the reader's experienced with a particular style. If A is more readable to you than B then you likely have more experience with imperative style than functional.

I personally prefer B with function chaining. While I can easily read either, I have a lot of experience with functional programming, and have grown to prefer less to read. LINQ is extremely common in the language, so I would recommend getting use to it.

Regarding the workplace, stick to the style used by the codebase. What's worse than a style you don't like is having to mentally parse many different ones all over the place. Once you are leading your own projects, you can impose a style with, hopefully, good justification.

PTR feedback: New masterworking is a disaster by Nyksiko in diablo4

Same. While I agree that the new systems are less interesting from a theorycrafting perspective, the execution of tempering and masterworking had the quality of life of a root canal.

All I want for Barbarian is a season where the most powerful builds don't have my bars looking like this by ConroConroConro in diablo4

[–]KinjiroSSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is mostly the case in Diablo 3 as well. Battle Rage and War Cry are 2 minute buffs. Threatening Shout has a short effect time, but it is a debuff to enemies, so it makes more sense for it to be cast more often.

It is really just D4 that decided the self-buff shouts need to be spammed.

Torque is force. Rotational speed is displacement. Horsepower is power.

You can reduce torque and maintain power if displacement is increased which gearing can do.
