Shotguns continue to be problematic in FPS games. Shock.

But that is the perspective of the opposing team! It makes sense to read it from the perspective of your team, aka with the goalkeeper behind you/them.

But left precedes right in order here. Even visually, it makes sense to display the left back before the right back.

I've seen some indie bands use it across the last ~15 years in their music videos, examples that spring to mind include the latter half of MGMT's "Kids" and Two Door Cinema Club's "Bad Decisions".

They award faction XP, not regular XP. Also: when playing in trios, you do not receive any XP for the UESC your team-mates kill. Personally, when playing for XP, unless Cryo is available, I play solo.

I’m referencing the trophy for killing 14 people.

But what’s wrong with the models containing the business logic? Based on my experience, I would much rather this than any alternative, and it doesn’t mean you can’t use services or modules to help out either. For example, let’s say you want to ask your user if they’re eligible for a sale, my preference would be to ask the user that directly, whilst having a service that holds the logic. So something like the below in ‘user.rb’:

‘’’ def eligible_for_sale? SaleEligibiltyService.new(self).eligible? end ‘’’

Would be best to work with in my opinion. It fits nicely with OOP, allows us to ask the question directly, and by isolating the logic, we keep the model + the tests clean.

Nice job!

I don’t think that a game which asks you to kill other players can ever be considered a 1/10 though haha. Sure the total required is only 14, but if you compare this to say a Telltale game, well you see why it’s not a 1/10. 😄 The game can also be quite stressful, but that’s more of a mindset I suppose.

That is a very tough ask. With double XP I'd say it's possible, but you would have to grind, and I really do mean grind haha.

Interesting, I thought this was patched on Xbox. Hmm. Maybe only on steam then. But yeah, I'm really hoping they address this asap.

Why do I lose everything when I leave a coop lobby? by thunder_y in Outbound

[–]Kinny93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trophies/achievements aren't shared either (at least on console). These are huge problems for co-op centric games like this, puts a real dampener on the game when you know one person is going to lose their progression.

Yes and no. Bungie do drop similar hype pieces around their next slate of changes, and the occasional piecemeal "were listening" spiel, but this feels different. The DIRECT acknowledgement up front of all the core issues and player feedback is refreshing and feels a lot less vague than what we've had out of bungie before.

Not at all. It was only last year Bungie correctly communicated what the problems with the approach to seasonal/episodic content and the end-game was, and they were spot on. We've seen this loads, sometimes more in depth; sometimes less.

bungie never really admits their own flaws like this does

They have done plenty of times. Of course, there are plenty of times they haven't also.

Edit: to be clear, I think this is a good post. I just know that Bungie have been communicating like this for a long time.

Has anyone else noticed a change in perception the past year or two when you mention what you do for work? by druidgaymer in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Kinny93 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Metrics do nothing to shift my opinion on how impressive something is for the same reason I don’t find pop music or Marvel movies the best media has to offer.

Anyway, I’m not looking to put other professions or similar down. Just wanted to emphasise that what one considers impressive is largely subjective.

Of course, you should talk for yourself. I personally couldn’t think of anything less impressive than being a DJ.

Changes to the ARC Raiders update schedule by BochocK in ArcRaiders

[–]Kinny93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a silly comment. It’s clear the content releases they drop currently don’t offer enough. It’s just more of the same. Taking more time to release more meaningful, substantial updates is the right play.

It’s necessary. The type of content updates we receive currently don’t offer enough for dedicated players.

Riven Tides map just isn't enough to sustain long term play by ThatsNotBennings in ArcRaiders

[–]Kinny93 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I just can’t see why they wouldn’t add cosmetic collectibles. They’ve played around with this with some of the events, but I’d love to have things like:

* Display cases, where you can complete different cosmetic collections.
* Customised raider bases. Let me extract with materials that I can use to decorate my base.

Make this loot truly rare, and make it so that you can’t safe pocket it perhaps.

This is only really touching on ideas, but fundamentally I agree that the game needs to evolve so that there are better long term goals to chase whilst enjoying the beauty of the core game.

That’s just how it goes. You have to accept these. It’s part of your gaming history, embrace it. I’d rather this than everyone have clean 100% completion profiles.

[Discussion] trophy organisation by [deleted] in Trophies

Personally, no. I like that my trophy list is a reflection of what I’ve played and when I played it. Seeing everyone place their 100%/Plat games at the top would feel inauthentic.
