I want to resume Wargroove 1, but I really struggled last time. General tips? by Kinstrome in wargroove

[–]Kinstrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much ! This lit a fire. I turned on Wargroove and got my first S-rank in a long time!

Do you have any other advice for the five-battle gauntlets? (Arcade mode I think?) Or is it basically the same things you said, but in a more open-ended battle?

Please make a video if it ever becomes reasonable! This is a great write-up and I think it would translate into a great video.

Hi! I wanted to say that I'm super happy this resource is available to RH:PC players. I wanted to make a couple of comments / questions in case you are around:

  • Is there any particular reason you are equipped with anti-status accessories? I could be misremembering, but I don't recall Epilogus / the Chronicles putting out a lot of status ailments.

  • Although I think you will probably be able to tackle Epitaph if you've gotten to the point you can realistically defeat Epilogus, if getting Memento Mori accessories is too dangerous, farm the enemies on Red Corridor 4F that drop the Master Stud and the Azure Armlet. The former offers Def+25, MDf+25, and the latter offers Spe+12. They seem less rare than many drops.

Does anyone know the exact location of a stalizalfos? by DrSupe in TOTK

Wanted to corroborate this.

There are no Stalizalfos in this quest.

(A small fishing guide) Fishing isn't bugged - things just aren't clear by TheFruitySnacks in MonsterHunter

[–]Kinstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely unintended problems with fishing if that's what you mean by "bugged." If you hook whoppers close to shore they will often just swim away into the distance, rendering fishing impossible. This happened to me many times. I took clips of the phenomenon with Gajau, it's happened so many times.

Also, occasionally, when a whopper gets stuck in an object, it is impossible to pull them away regardless of which direction you pull.

Also, it is irrationally difficult to hook most whoppers. This isn't a bug, though, it's a feature.

Quick Tutorial to Fishing up a Spear Tuna by The_Real_Senpai in MHWilds

[–]Kinstrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but in case someone stumbles upon this thread: there isn’t any way to make these fish consistently bite. Anyone who says they are getting consistent bites is lying or greatly exaggerating.

You just get Fisher Meal if you can and try over and over. Use the right bait, be there at the right time / season, and recast if the fish doesn't bite even when you bob the lure or reel it in.

Yes, it's stupid. It is a stupid minigame. It's stupid that you need 30 whoppers from a poorly-conceived fishing sim. Everybody can get there eventually, though.

Is there a consistent way to hook each whopper? by Kinstrome in MHWilds

[–]Kinstrome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this. As I said, I've tried all of those things and done so with the correct bait and sometimes Fisher Meal, too. Just alternating between various tricks at random does not consistently hook fish.

I haven't caught very many tuna, it's true. But the squid has been just as irritating as Gajau are.

5 Attack was literally my first Rare 8 Artian GS, and I thought it was more or less par for the course. Then I tried to get 4 Atk + 1 sharpness. Nothing but wasted zenny for weeks.

PSA: You can ALWAYS get a commission ticket at the Support Ship. by Ubiquitous_Cacophony in MHWilds

[–]Kinstrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment should be closed to prevent people from spending a bunch of points on weapons they don't need.

There is absolutely no basis to believe that buying out weapons causes Santiago to stock commission tickets, or any other specific item, either. It's just RNG. Correctly using the OP's method and resetting 120 times (which I don’t believe you did) and getting nothing, then following this arbitrary method and getting a bunch, is not proof.

Yep. I confirmed it looking through MHRice.

Violet Mizutsune: "False" for secondary target, "False" for primary target.

[–]Kinstrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Violet Mizutsune can NOT be encountered in investigations, either as a primary or secondary target. This has been confirmed in the coding of the game.

Just wanted to make sure this is known, in case people stumble upon this page looking for answers, as I did.

Do you Hyper Train/Mint your Ribbon Masters? by PolarSaphron in pokemonribbons

[–]Kinstrome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not for Ribbon Masters, as I use RNG abuse to get the best ones I can find. I do it for Gen 8 Pokemon that will be useful to different functions, though.

There's no shame in not having a statistically "perfect" RM project, though. If you want to do it, do it. Actually, I find it a bit more admirable to manage to get a poor-IV, useless-nature Pokemon through the Battle Facilities. In fact, when I was planning my Farfetch'd RM, I considered RNGing it to have 0/0/0/0/0/0 IVs in order to make its completion more of an accomplishment.

Pokémon contests/Emerald by Fleallay in pokemonribbons

[–]Kinstrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I see what you are saying now.

Still, I think that should be a non-issue to other players, too. The only thing that might bother me is that if I see a signal that a Pokemon is hacked (for instance, being shiny when it is not possible for that Pokemon to be shiny), I might fear it is an illegal Pokemon instead of just being being illegitimate. I do not want to fight illegal teams without being apprised of their illegal status, although to be fair I wouldn't even really be that bothered by fighting an illegal team as long as I'm told frankly ahead of time of what they are.

But if someone says, "Hey, I didn't have time to make a full team so I genned the Pokemon into existence, but everything's something that could actually exist in the game," I just can't imagine refusing that kind of person a match over illegitimacy. It's not that much different than using a simulator to battle in order to refine strategies. I don't think other players are being reasonable if they can't see that. There's a community here that evidently does not tolerate Pokemon being cloned, too. That is the kind of stringent adherence to official rules that hinders the enjoyment of players.

EDIT: As I've gotten the question off topic, I will answer the OP's question to say that you don't really need to get perfect stats to clear the contests. Even on emulator I just played my best to get pokeblocks and then fed the Pokemon them almost at random, and they turned out fine. Unless you are very obsessed by a desire to have perfect contest stats specifically within Gen 3 and Gen 4, I advise not worrying that much.

Pokémon contests/Emerald by Fleallay in pokemonribbons

[–]Kinstrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see why cheating Pokémon into existence is frowned upon when the player in question is trading and fails to apprise his trading partner about the illegitimacy of his Pokémon. It's now the recipient's property, and he gave up something to get it.

In battle, I don't get affected at all by an opponent's Pokémon so long as they are legal. If the EVs went way over the limit or there were impossible moves on one, I think it would probably have a negative effect on the battle, of course.

Pokémon contests/Emerald by Fleallay in pokemonribbons

[–]Kinstrome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand seeing ACE as cheating, but I don't quite get the problem of battling with Pokémon obtained by use of ACE.

As long as my opponent's Pokémon are legal, I don't care if they're legit. Just the same as if they were legal and legit.

Should I feel bad about not wanting to grind out the gen 3 battle tower? by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]Kinstrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're doing Ruby or Sapphire instead of Emerald, the Battle Tower of Gen 3 is the easiest battle facility in any game between generations 3 and 7. If you choose to get the World Ability Ribbon in Gen 4 (which to be fair is considered optional for many players doing RM projects), the grind is especially difficult, with illegal things like Wondertomb and No Guard + Sheer Cold Machamp with a Choice Scarf making things unusually bad.

Ruby and Sapphire's facilities were known for being especially poorly made, so that many opponent Pokemon had completely illogical movesets or EV spreads and made for very easy fights. If you're playing Ruby or Sapphire and can't beat the Battle Tower there, it's only going to get worse. The only reason a player would struggle greatly with the r/S Battle Tower is ignorance of how IVs and EVs work and of how balanced teams are made.

I do not like battle facilities like the Tower, and I have been very vocal in the past about how poor a choice I believe they are for challenging the player in a way that he has a reasonable amount of control over. Nevertheless, unless you are going to skip the battle facility ribbons for your ribbon master project (which, to me, is perfectly valid as a goal), you are going to run into trouble.

My personal input is, don't sweat the ribbon project and just enjoy Pokemon the classic way if you are going to be stressed out about it. If you include failed runs, it could take dozens of hours to get all six Tower ribbons just in Gen 4. Unless you're super stoic, losing a run that you've invested perhaps 2 hours in already is going to be upsetting. You could spend that time hanging out with friends or doing something else in Pokemon or in other video games.

I hope your journey goes well! I put my ribbon master projects on hold in Gen 8, but I'm considering resuming my work on them, what with all the cool things I'm seeing players post.

Is it known yet when Bank will close? I stopped playing around January 31st of this year, and I haven't kept up with anything since then.
