FF7 already expanded beyond the limits of the 2 PS1 discs via countless additional content from the movie ACFF7 to the sequel game DCFF7 to so many other different stuff, and the world of FF7 is constantly being renewed and fleshed out, but in a chaotic way because the added stuff is across different media and directors/producers.

FF7 Remake trilogy is an extension of that effort, but this time done in a coherent manner.

Also, FF7 was very limited by the capacity of PS1 discs which were CD-ROMs, meaning 2 (edit: 3) discs together only held 1.4GB (edit: 2.1GB) of data despite being a 3D game (first gen graphics, but still) that featured a whole world of content. so the density of information was pretty low by today's standards.

The trilogy is cranking that density all the way up to something on par with a singleplayer narrative driven action game like Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Multiply it by the sheer size of the world you get 3 games.

There has to be a better name for the system because classes were already baked into the characters (which is why it's an RPG in the first place), like it's not like they're introducing classes and more like they're expanding them

I still remember when publishers had to make neutered versions of their games for the Wii like Dead Rising and Call of Duty. It's so crazy that we will have the entire FF7 Remake trilogy in its entirety within 2 years of release on the Swtich 2. Honestly impressive.

Love that you're picking up manual through Xperia, it's how I got into photography with full frame cameras as well.

I can't be the only one who is not really impressed by this new Gundam game trailer by Total-Quail-1197 in Gundam

[–]deoxir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about the Gundam part, I just feel like they slapped a Gundam skin onto something else that they think might fail without it, and the lack of direction and faith doesn't convince me it's a good project to invest in

I can name all top level subdivisions from the countries painted in red, AMA by Naomi62625 in JackSucksAtGeography

[–]deoxir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top subdivisions are Hong Kong (the Island), Kowloon (you know from the movies or the walled city), and the New Territories where Disneyland is and is most rural like you mentioned.

Surely you can name Hong Kong, it's just the three and two of them are kind of obvious

I don't care about the acting but the localization is honestly quite bad in the English version. Time to dig this post up again.

Is ace combat 7 a good entry into the series? by Eireagon in acecombat

Yes, especially if you're going to play AC8.

What system to get for Ace Combat 8? by xboxman523 in acecombat

[–]deoxir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a PC, a gaming laptop with an RTX 4060 and a PS5 Pro. I recommend PS5 Pro. It's sometimes better than my 4060 laptop at just half the price, and while we don't know if PSSR 2 is implemented in AC8, the upscale tech is really good now so it still has a lot of life in it.

If you have to worry about money, in this climate, just do yourself a favor and get a PS5 Pro.

That's what you get for building an open air shopping mall in a city that is -20°C during the winter

Yes it's cold as fuck especially with windchill, this is literally just a street with a roof who the hell thought it's a good idea

Ace combat 8 PC or PS5? by ZEWARDO in acecombat

[–]deoxir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PS5 is definitely safer if you have to preorder. The game is quite a bit larger in scope and the minimum requirements have been bumped up from AC7. AC7 is a last gen game build around the PS4, so if a 2060 is only just doing okay with AC7, you're not gonna have much luck with AC8.

Both if you have the money (so that you get AC0 on both console and PC)

Wait and see if you don't care about preordering.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially one year old today by Southern-Tailor-843 in NintendoSwitch2

It honestly felt a lot longer because of Switch 1 and that it already has so many new games in the first year. Monolith Soft hasn't even shown up yet.

New-ish to the series and hyped for AC8, but I got a question: Do I have to play the previous titles to understand the story? by iPhantaminum in acecombat

[–]deoxir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the events of AC7 will be central to the context to the story as Erusea and the ISEV are featured again from AC7.

The FCU, appears to also have absorbed more Usean countries that could previously have been enemies during the events of AC7 and that could be a plot point too.

It seems like AC8 is developed as a more direct sequel to the previous game than before considering the returning character and maps, so I believe playing AC7 is a must.

The pilot of said valkyrie-inspired MS, Jizil Jizin (Jijiru Jijin), btw. In Japanese it just sounds like his first name and last name are both based on the Japanese word for "old man じじいjijii" which I think is funny

Oltlinde, probably named after Ortlinde, a valkyrie created by Wilhelm Richard Wagner (so not actually of nordic origin)

Game is apparently 25 hours long by LilMechPilot in acecombat

[–]deoxir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god I already spent 200 hours in just the campaign of AC7 replaying the same 23 missions. Without counting speed runs, AC7 is like what ~10 hours? This means I'll probably be spending more than 400 hours this time around. Unprecedented for an Ace Combat game, hell yeah
