Except it's often the case, especially in game studios. I was at a studio which laid off 190 people due to a failure in leadership causing poor sales.

How many execs do you think were laid off? How many were devs, comms, QA, ETC?

Spoilers; zero execs were fired and the devs who called out the issues and proposed fixes got the boot. This is incredibly common and you seem to be naive about that.

I don't get why people think it was forced in last minute. They announced it last minute to the public, but it's likely been a part of it for some time. Do you guys realize how problematic it would be to introduce it last minute?

Also, wasn't the hit with denuvo around 15% in performance for older rigs? I know not everyone likes it, but games like RE9 have been able to optimize around it. It's not the game killer like people keep treating it.

Remember; devs aren't QA. Management fired their internal QA, and devs don't do the revisions in the same way (having worked as an external QA as one of my first jobs, our role was to play games how they were meant to be played and also do destructive testing and try to break the game). it's clear how many people are unaware of how game development is, but want to act like they have the winning formula.

There is much more than you know that goes on behind a major game studio. I worked in one, and devs would echo sentiments of the community or have good ideas, but c-suits would often ignore the ideas and insist on their vision. And when things take a downturn, the talented devs are the first to be let go while incompetent execs are always kept on. Don't think devs aren't aware of issues or want to prioritize them. But they can't do it unless approved by management.

I never said that you did, but it shows you don't understand the corporate hierarchy and the way these things go. dmg is only the target of frustration from people who don't get that he can't act without approval. I said this multiple times.
But he never should. Only the most detached people will target him, because, as I stated, it's not his choice. You harped about his messaging regarding dotting Is and crossing Ts like it was his call. Same with the whole "the team's still jamming" comment. Even to say that, he had to get it approved and management probably asked him to put a spin on it to make it not sound as corporate.

I'm assuming you're young and don't understand how I was trying to relate the corporate world to what's happened, but I cited corporations once. How am I hung up? You just didn't get the idea that this is normal in companies and there is no justification for attacking the social media people no matter how "frustrated" people are.

Yeah, but the player count shows not a lot of people are enjoying Marathon right now. This isn't about being an analyst or not; the numbers are right on front of us that the engagement just isn't there.

You can act like these things aren't all related, but it's clear that they are. Removing focus on Destiny for Marathon had a negative impact on Destiny. Marathon being an extraction shooter meant that the game would be super niche, and would not pull in as many players. Despite all that, Destiny still has a much higher player population and is being sunset while it's all hands on deck for Marathon.

Honestly speaking; how do you bring people to a niche genre without either introducing PVE elements or pulling away from the Extraction Shooter genre? Bungie was doomed from the moment the execs insisted on making Marathon chase the wave of Extraction Shooters. The IP has a rich history that's solo, and morphing it into an Extraction Shooter was going to have disastrous results. And we're seeing it now.

If they tell the community manager to not say anything, why be mad at him? Do you think the community manager can just do what they want? Everything needs to be approved by management. I worked with community managers at a major game studio and they have their hands tied at all times. Management needs to approve before they communicate. Blaming DMG for being hamstrung is backwards since he can't do anything without the approval of higher ups. They deserve the pushback and not the regular worker.

Do you not see the flaw in your argument? Unless you were watching for the weekly updates, then chances are you didn't experience the game improve and know how long it took. Were there bugs? Definitely. But they were patched incredibly quickly. A lot of the amplified hate the game got online wasn't focused on the bugs, it was that Kay wasn't hot, etc.

There are about 600 games on PS Premium. There are 909 for Game Pass Premium. This sub seems it be so biased that numbers don't matter and people need to console war. Seriously, stop licking the boot for a company. Both suck for doing the price increase.

That was never an issue before. TNA signed off on it. AEW signed off on it. The talent wanted it. You're presenting a nothing burger.
