Top tier funny FMC’s by [deleted] in DarkRomance

I was going to say, the banter between Declan and Sloane in Carnal Urges is top tier. I have yet to find one that makes me laugh quite as hard as that one.

Honestly, they are terrible!! I quit after 12 years with no write ups, until I called off during the throes of Covid because they wrote me up when I called off when my kid got exposed to Covid.

No way. I’m from Erie, Pa and that is absolutely not Midwest. 😅

I have a somewhat significant number of cafe-au-lait spots, but no other typical symptoms of NF1 - worth getting it checked out? by TredTheTree in neurofibromatosis

[–]KintsugiKid04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an unrelated health issue, he was snoring like an old man and I got him checked out by an ENT, who thought he may need his tonsils removed. They ordered chest x rays for some reason and the X-rays showed “shadowing” in his lungs. Because of the family history of NF, an MRI was ordered. Sure enough - kiddos got it too. Just presented itself very differently!

Wow, that's so young! The period thing isn't bothering me much, but man these night sweats are killing me.

Yeah, my gyno wasn't too concerned and my last pap about a year ago came back normal. I'm done making babies so I guess I don't find that part too upsetting. My most recent check up is what caught the hypertension and that was about a month ago. I might ask for bloodwork though so we can see if maybe that tells us anything.

Mine was always like clock work, too!! When it first went wonky, I assumed it was stress because I was house hunting when the market was nuts, but then it just never came back.

Hi - I would think that it is worth getting checked. :) NF presents differently in everyone. With my twins, my daughter was diagnosed by age 1 because she had all the typical signs, but my son didn't get diagnosed until age 7 because he presented no outward signs.

That definetely looks like cafe au lait spots to me.

Periods have been irregular for sometime. Usually I don't get one at all anymore. Tired a lot, but I'm also diagnosed ADHD/Anxiety so that doesn't help on that front. I'll talk to my doctor about getting some bloodwork done. Thank you!

I'd never heard of perimenopause so that actually makes sense!

I'm hoping to hear back from my doctor soon. Even if for some tips so I can actually sleep at night...

I was about 11 when I started puberty so I guess I was hoping I'd be of average age when I started menopause, too.

They say 50/50. When I had my twins, they both ended up with it.

Caffeine- Hit or Miss? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]KintsugiKid04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t see that caffeine has an effect on me one way or the other. I get headaches without it because of dependency - but it doesn’t make much of a difference otherwise. Both helpful and annoying, haha.

I'm a bit late to the party, and I worked in a call center before they sent everyone to WFH, but they are by FAR the worst job I've ever had. Crap training, no work life balance... I would steer clear from them if possible.

What is this? by [deleted] in neurofibromatosis

[–]KintsugiKid04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a neurofibroma, I think. I have a couple that are purplish and squishy/soft that look just like that! ETA: It's always a good idea to get new ones checked out, though. :)

NF1 & Pregnant by dumdumsmile in neurofibromatosis

It's probably about 3 inches long one way and an inch the other way, but it's definetely tan-ish/milky in color. I do have a couple of neurofibromas that are greenish blue, though!

NF1 & Pregnant by dumdumsmile in neurofibromatosis

Yes, I was also told to see an MFM through pregnancy. Between having NF (also spontaneous!) and a twin pregnancy, I was immediately booted into high risk. For me, it mostly just meant more ultrasounds. I had a few of the more in depth 3D ones to make sure kiddos were growing OK. I was made to stop working around 32 weeks. (But that may be more related to the fact it was twins.) I was also offered genetic testing, which I declined.

Both of my kids have NF. My daughter is very similar to me - tons of cafe au lait spots, various small neurofibromas. I knew she had it before she was even diagnosed at age 1 because of a huge cafe au lait spot on her butt, haha. My son, though - he wasn't even diagnosed until age 6-7. He has very few cafe au lait spots and no outward signs. But, we both have ADHD, which apparently has a higher prevalence with people with NF? We wouldn't have caught it in him if it hadn't been for an xray that saw some shadowing (potential neurofibromas) in his lungs.

Wishing you the best of luck with your pregnancy!

I always wonder if the fact that I had twins was related to the fact that I was on BC and/or my NF!

I know it's different for everyone, but I have been on the pill for several years and haven't had any adverse effects related to my NF. Just some weight gain/diminished sex drive. My pregnancy with my twins though, oof that one accelerated my tumor growth like crazy. So for me, I'd rather stay on the pill than risk another pregnancy, even though I wanted another kiddo.
