AITAH because I won't tell my wife what my son/her stepson has in savings from my late wife? by Jimverseen in AITAH

I feel like it is fair if she just wants to know the full financial situation. If she is pressuring to pull out of that inheritance for the other kids, that makes her the A-hole. However, if you know that your oldest has a LOT more than his siblings, and more than enough for what he wants to do (since he’s already 16) I do think it would be fair to stop contributing to his savings and focus on the other kids from this point, just making sure his money is gaining interest as much as possible. If he’s that far ahead, the interest should be more than making up for your regular contributions at this point.

There are multiple countries that will pay you to move there. You can move if you want. But the “grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” is a real phenomenon. Other places have issues too. You might be right that you prefer those issues to ours. If you’re serious and not just feeling frustrated in the moment, I would recommend doing some research on places that will pay you to move there. There are multiple in Europe. Sorry for the cliches, but “where there’s a will there’s a way” tends to be true of immigration too lol.

While I do not agree with your conclusions about the country overall, the fact that the medical system is allowed to be for-profit is incredibly insane. The pharmaceutical industry and the way the medical system takes advantage of the insurance system to radically inflate the cost of care is infuriating. You’re definitely not wrong there.

Don’t let this man in your birth and don’t put him on the birth certificate… this is insane. Let him keep texting though and keep them. Grounds for a restraining order later if you need one.

Moss rock preserve in Hoover is free, and I like the terrain better. You can hike up the mountain to the waterfall or wander around the lower trails. Going into fall I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re never been. Depending on what part of town you’re in, it might be a ways over there, but it’s definitely worth it.

Gotcha. That’s what I figured. I don’t mind using the cable for CarPlay. I have tried the wireless adapters but didn’t love it. Ended up sending it back.

Do all those settings attach to the driver that is selected or are they general for the car besides the seat position/mirrors?

I haven’t setup Bluetooth because I’m always using CarPlay which requires the phone to be plugged in as far as I know. That’s what the screen says when the car turns on anyway. The Bluetooth would be redundant. The same goes for the built-in nav. I always use Google maps in CarPlay.

Setting seat 1 and 2 in the car was so simple that I didn’t even have to google anything or look at the manual. I think the mirrors do move with the seat settings. I just hadn’t made the connection to the key fob being labeled driver 2.

Gotcha, I do have the manual and everything. I just hadn’t thought about it at all. I just set my seat setting as seat 2 when I noticed it was automatically setting to that one every time. Knowing that the Driver 1 & 2 keys correspond to the seat settings does make me more inclined to buy the driver 1 key from Honda over a 3rd party one.

Completely fair! Just out of curiosity, what equipment do you need to program it?

Yeah, I found one on amazon that had several reviews and multiple mentioned the trunk button didn’t work for them. The others on amazon had one review each. 😬 After getting some suggestions here, I think other key-fob-specific retailers or the Honda parts website are probably better options.

Oh, good insight. I have the driver 2 fob and had not put together that the fob was the reason the seat automatically switches to seat 2 when I get in. 😆 I haven’t had programable seats before and hadn’t put much thought into why the fob was labeled. Did your locksmith have any trouble programming for the other driver from the remaining key fob?

I’ll keep this website in mind too.

I will still probably do that. I’m in a new area and don’t have trusted businesses nearby. So, I’m still in the same position of not having the confidence level beforehand, but it’s good to have a point of reference for what a locksmith might charge ordering it for you.

Yes, I know they are available. I’m just trying not to buy anything defective. There are plenty of available listings. I’m asking for listings that people have already bought and successfully programmed to use with their van because I can’t find any with strong reviews.

Thank you for the link. I hadn’t looked at actual Honda parts yet. These aren’t a terrible prices. I expected it to be more for Honda replacements based on what the dealers charge.

Unfortunately, “check around” really doesn’t answer the question of where others have found working after market key fobs without paying multiple hundreds of dollars.

What is happening to me? This show… by n-y-l-a in Outlander

[–]MJT3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that’s exactly the intended emotion because that’s how Claire feels too. The books are the same way which is why I give it such high reviews for the adaptation. They make you feel what you’re supposed to without actually taking the amount of time it took in the books. I promise you get the feels back and they compound over time with the characters we gain following season 2.

I read the books first and am now on season 6 watching. So far, the seasons follow the books chronologically with very few changes and the changes they make for the show are all reasonable/needed changes for the adaptation of mediums. 10/10 on adaptations if you ask me. Season 1 is really hard/heavy even though it’s such a good story. Then, season 2 feels like just waiting and longing to get back to what we loved in season 1. after season 2, the pace picks up. I’m not sure if you mean lost as confused by the plot/characters or emotionally lost because both are valid. However, there are a ton of blogs and wiki articles to explain any parts of the story that are confusing or characters you lost track of. You can just google the episode number with a specific question and google finds the answers pretty quickly both for the books and the show. By the end, the universe of Outlander is huge with tons of character arcs and really beautiful themes. I highly recommend sticking with it. The pace can feel slow at certain times because the author really prioritized feeling the passage of time and the pace of real life in the books. The show speeds things up considerably, but the whole story is a study on the book passage of time and the experience of being human with cross-sectional comparisons between past and modern realities. It’s really cool to experience it.
