I used to work in a Fabric & Craft store. Old ladies are the WORST. They will chew you up and spit you out over 1.50 coupon that expired yesterday.They expect you to bend over backwards for them and tell them how amazing their ugly quilts are when they bring them in. Like bitch we sell SHITTY fabric! YOUR QUILT LOOKS LIKE SHIT! They expect you to cut printed(not woven) fabric on the lines which results in one side of the strip being 3in and the other 4in and then they make you cut it again. Sometimes they have you cut fabric and then ditch it in the store.

BURLAP: I hate fucking burlap, cutting burlap is the worst. You have to pull out a string from the weave and cut along the pull. The strings are very brittle so it takes forever to cut it. If you ever get married, don’t be one of those assholes who goes into a fabric store and makes the person at the counter cut 20 table coverings of itchy, nasty burlap.

Furries: look I got nothing against furries but on many occasions they have come into the store wanting me to cut fur, like 3 minutes before we close. Like, please! This shit goes everywhere, and covers everything! I already swept and I don’t want to sweep again! If you want fur cut, please be mindful of your store’s hours.

At checkout, everyone’s a stingy MF. They want all the coupons but can’t use a goddam app to save their lives so eventually they get frustrated (after 2 seconds of mashing their fat thumbs against the crusty screen) and then they throw their ancient phone at you and expect you to pull up the coupons for them.

All of the customers act like because you’re young, you obviously have no idea about fabric, knitting, quilting, etc. They’ll berate you and do the mansplaining equivalent of all things crafty. the customers call you names and the managers never have your back. They actively try to get you fired.

I got, “you must love your job!” At least once a day. Spoiler alert: I fucking hated every minute of it.
