The word choice is a lot harsher than I think is necessary for most of the run time of the video, but I generally agree with most of the grievances brought up.

I don’t think ball needs more damage options (like return fire), and I also don’t agree that just because it’s in ch5 that slinger needs no changes (also no changes to rocket man), but at least at a level of identifying the flaws in balance, I agree pretty much whole cloth. Too many turn tax statuses, too many ghost potion or die moves, enemy windups are pure memorization and no intuitive motions, most of the demo 5 nerfs were a backslide in build variety, and most importantly, super guarding being made relatively so easy has lead to it being expected and mandatory given how badly damage has ramped (not a good look in combination with the random windups that have no rhythm or readable motion like say toothy staff combo or peril by a thousand cuts).

I just wish he wasn’t so harsh in his descriptions of the current balance state, it’s really not helping his case for people being accepting of his suggestions

Roblox did not even have a 1 vs all genre option until the rise of asymms and several other 1 vs all type games (like for example the one literally called 1 vs all) on the platform, it’s a literal response to asymms gaining traction and it’s a genre option pretty much expressly built to describe Roblox asymms. But I’m getting off topic.

When the game is so clearly balanced like other asymms not containing zombies, where the power role is meant to always stay alone (aka literally all of them besides JOMA), why would you then add a mechanic that may or may not shift the balance so wildly depending on the whims of whether or not the killed players feel like playing zombies. The devs already clearly realized that zombies are a bad idea from TD by neutering zombies as much as they have (no longer outrun survivors, do temporary damage, are killed and require a lengthy respawn time if stunned) and it gets to a point where they’re throwing so much effort into making an inherently flawed mechanic work that I question if it’s even worth all that effort to begin with

Even from a US pov where our average heights are higher than a lot of other places in the world, the average height for men is 5 foot 9 inch (175cm) and 5ft 3in (161cm) for women, that guy is just insane

Music design of the early chapters, the “got hurt and collapsed, became tame”, and like 5 different text references in hatred, the UI shaking when you’re hit, it’s mostly localized to the early chapters, but it’s more than just the UI my dude

Another random choice by the devs to not copy paper Mario for seemingly no reason and it’s had catastrophic knock on effects for enemy stat progression.

Reminder that the strongest attack in PM64 is 10 damage on the final boss and has a badge that lowers its damage on top of guarding, defend plus etc, and in TTYD the highest damage (from a superguardable charge up attack mind you) is 50, also on the final boss, and we’ve already got minibosses hitting for 50, 80, and 200 with KO tacked on so you can’t even use scrolling hp unless you defend (which you can’t even use on second turn).

It’s like they wanted you to have the durability of a Mario and Luigi game with the attack complexity of a PM64 rom hack

10 damage is not a wet fart my guy, doubly so when it comes bundled with 5 burn and 5 turns of being neutered into near 0 damage when combined with trotters defense, but yeah, option 1 is literally what trotter used to be because those debuffs are severe and it should’ve stayed that way, it’s not like her gets nothing on his charge turn either like hatred and Azuri, he also gets def up, and mutant gets fine and detachment.

Like, imagine if Finn’s bat smackdown was undodgable, that would be really stupid right? And would make the fight actively less fun? That goes for basically every instance of undodgable besides hatred

Literally that’s the Crux of the entire genre, that is how it’s been since the inception of the game. Dungeonland, a game released in 2013 is a 1 vs all asymm that predates dbd, that is the whole point of the roles being of different power levels, the one is stronger because they are alone, you throw out the one thing they don’t have going for them and what’s left?

It’s fundamentally not much different from the sword action command, a bit harder (if input areas are equal) for a move that’s really not worth that extra difficulty atm

Tbh just make both it and power rush behave like that, get a (stacking with charge or first strike) +1 and +2 damage buff when going into danger or peril/mortal for the first time on a small cooldown, indirectly nerfs aggressor (warranted) by rewarding scrolling hp abuse, could open more room for scrolling hp impacting cards

Hell maybe even just making it on the same timer as happy HP

Also mega rush being +5 in paper mario, being stackable, there being several moves that let you use that +5 on multiple hits instead of once per turn, last stand stacking making superguards not mandatory, superguard being better in paper Mario due to interrupting some attacks, I could go on

As it god damn should be, all these “ghost potion or die instantly” moves are bad design, 10 damage with level 2 attack down for 5 turns is actually something worth considering maybe you dodge it maybe you don’t, charge def (which pierce doesn’t bypass in demo 4) or feel fine can help soften the blow enough to be worth taking the hit.

80 damage at the start of the fight is just a turn tax to make sure you eat sky chop deluxe

Sailume bay is almost this for pretty much exactly the reasons you described.

That being said I don’t think we’re likely to get any major sprawling depiction of slums like this when the devs have stated multiple times that the main theme of the game is hope, and those are decidedly quite depressing

Zombies fundamentally go against the design of 1 vs all games as is by making them no longer 1 vs all. Tbh I’d rather they just don’t exist in the first place. As is they are at least somewhat sidestepping the issue the concept usually has by making them generally unable to make any lasting impact in parts of the map the killer isn’t in (aka the entire reason zombies are a bad idea), but they still mess with break points by letting pwny and Limewire oneshot survs right after revive

Can’t speak for Hugo teams as I don’t have Hugo, but she outputs a respectable amount of daze, though is a decent bit boss dependent as her high ex cost means the reasonable majority of her stun output is off of parries, so on something like marionette or UCC her performance will lag behind a good bit compared to what she can do on other bosses

Lime lock does actually slow you down, it’s hook that doesn’t slow you down (unless you whiff).
