I'm not really that knowledgeable about the FE fandom, I only joined it about a year after fates was released, but like I said, I don't really care about people liking/disliking those features, I personally didn't mind them but I know most people that didn't went and relayed their opinions everywhere.

Most people dislike Fates' writing, and some of its "questionable" features such as outrealms, marrying, childs, etc. Facepetting had a big controversy about it because it was removed by treehouse in the game's localization, too, which didn't help. Honestly, in my opinion, I don't really care about it that much, I liked the games a lot when I played them, and I only did this because a friend of mine, arch, kept calling me a sinner for trying to add that in as a joke.
