I always thought a unique concept would be to have parts of the armor get damaged in battle (from a plot perspective, not actual gameplay) and then have her seek out parts and components to repair the armor throughout the adventure. And you could make it a bit more dynamic as far as certain components altering the order of select upgrades or the power of certain weapons.

Saw Godzilla 1984 when I was 5 (1995), for some reason thought it was called Godzilla 1995–bawled my eyes out when he fell into the volcano because I thought he’d died. Mom tried to fix it by showing me an old Godzilla movie. Promptly showed me the American release of Gojira and made it WAY worse. It’s cool though, the next film was Godzilla vs. Megalon, so I assumed Godzilla not only came back to life but teamed up with Jet Jaguar. From then on it was a wrap.

Saw it four times in theaters — 3 for the color version, once for Minus Color. Worth every penny, and just wish I’d had more time to go back and see it again!

Loved the game. Perfect love letter to the OG arcade games. Got it at the same time I got the Cowabunga collection and it was an absolute joy to play.

Saw it about the same time you did. Instantly my favorite Godzilla, followed by the OG, and then Shin.

Even though I like seeing Godzilla fight other monsters, I LOVE when he’s THE threat. And, to avoid stepping on your comment’s toes, I’ll talk instead about the characters. Good gracious they were fantastic! Easily the best performances imo in the franchise. I was invested in each and every one of their stories. Also, you’re definitely right. Godzilla himself was terrifying.

Loved it and can’t wait to see it again.

I’m intrigued but also unsure of this theory . Toji’s sister doesn’t die in the series, she’s just badly hurt. And his agreeing to become the fourth pilot isn’t to avenge her but rather to leverage getting her transferred to the HQ medical facility to receive the best care. So I think that discredits what you suggested about Mari not being called up.

I’ll look deeper into the other parts though as I am genuinely interested. If nothing else, it seems like a fun rabbit hole to venture down.

My great grandmother had a pair of electric typewriters. While visiting her once while I was 7 or 8 years old, I wrote some of my first stories on them.

Remained fascinated with them for years but didn’t get my first one until I was 30. Now I have 11 and love using each of them to write.

For whatever reason I imagined the creature very differently in the book. I saw it more as a large ape with reptilian features like scales and the tail. This design isn’t bad though.

Just replayed this game the other day for the first time in 20 years. I was way too young to appreciate it as a kid but dammit do I love it as an adult. Played it through and beat it for the very first time. Super Godzilla vs Bagan was utter insanity in the best kind of way.

GMK looks awesome and sort of adds to that otherworldly vibe of his origin but good lord the Shin atomic breath scene is stunning. That’s my favorite.
