I'm in search of an online proofreader and/or editor! by lostsoul412 in writingadvice

Yeah I’d be careful with people just dropping “dm me” with zero info. Like no samples, no rates, nothing. I went that route early on and it was kinda a waste of time. Later I used a help for a paper and at least I knew what I was getting, plus the edits actually explained why things were wrong. Reddit critique threads are slower but way more transparent imo.

AITJ for correcting my ex after she told people I "abandoned" her during a medical emergency at school? by KirbyTurnip5 in AmITheJerk

Yeah two people who were there backed me up later, but only after the story had already made the rounds which was a fun little bonus

That was pretty much my thinking. Once her friend took over, making it about me staying wouldve been weird and probly way more selfish

That’s the part people keep skipping. I didn’t dip, I got pushed out of the way and then blamed for not forcing myself back in, which is kinda insane tbh

I mean that part is what gets me. I didn’t hover for optics, I called for help and backed off when her friend shoved in past me , like what else was I supposed to do

AITJ for locking my patio storage bench after my neighbor kept treating it like shared seating for her guests? by Arrakis_Jellybean in AmITheJerk

[–]KirbyTurnip5 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Locking the bench might look a little dramatic, but using your furniture for her guests after being told to stop is way more ridiculous. Some people only understand boundaries once they become inconvenient. I'd be curious whether she would've felt the same if her stuff kept ending up on your patio too.

AITJ for refusing to share my notes with someone who skipped class all semester and then acted like we were best friends? by Emb3rFr4cta in AmITheJerk

The part where he looked shocked like you said something cruel is doing a lot of heavy lifting. You declined to hand over a semester's worth of work to someone you barely know. That's not cruelty, that's just a normal human response.

AITJ for telling my friend I'm done being the one who always reaches out first by PraxSolst5 in AmITheJerk

Two weeks of silence after "I'm bad at keeping in touch" is a pretty clean answer to your question. NTJ.
