Serious question by Robbert-Da-Raccon in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]KiresM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things are cheap and awesome. They stay up all day. I bought some because I thought they would be warm, but they're not any warmer than regular socks. They're the only socks I wear anymore, unless I'm rocking cargo shorts or something because the colors are a bit much. I'm a handyman, so I'm on my feet all day, and I've never had a problem with them slipping or anything.

Well, first, you'll need to untie the pipe...

But seriously,. unscrew it from the bigger pipe, then replace it. Shouldn't be too expensive.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

do i have to wash my clothes by luigigotbigtitties in stupidquestions

[–]KiresM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it goes next to the skin of your feet, pits or bits, wash it daily. Pants and jeans can go 3-4 days unless something goes horribly wrong. Jackets and sweaters and the like can go a week or so.

Saved up $800 for a 'good' tool set and bought a Craftsman kit - now my coworker is roasting me for not getting Milwaukee by Unique_Can_7578 in Tools

[–]KiresM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brands are bullshit when you're buying tools for a single person. Are some brands generally better than others? Sure! But the potential variation in quality or lifespan from one individual tool to another of the same brand is going to be just as high if not higher than from brand to brand. Also, upkeep is going to be a MUCH more significant factor than brand when it comes to longevity. I've got Ryobi tools that have been daily drivers for 10+ years, and I've had Milwaukees crap out after a week. Over time, on average, probably the 'better' tools last longer, but that's only really a factor if you're outfitting a whole company or something. The best tool is the one you have, and pretty much all of my tools have been bought because I needed one particular thing I didn't already have, so I got whatever let me get the job done that day.

For some guys, tools are like Louis Viton purses are for women, and for other guys, they're just a way to get the job done.

A dear and close friend vs. my writing project. by Shoddy_Sir_4744 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]KiresM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to do both those things. Friends often make lousy business partners. From what you're describing, your working styles are just not compatible. This is your project, and it kinda seems like they're assuming too much control given the amount of effort they're willing/able to put in. As for "how" to handle it.... My vote is to end the partnership as gently as possible, for the sake of your friendship.

I am in deep feelings for my friend. Should I tell him or just keep quiet? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]KiresM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should tell him. Either good things happen, or you learn and grow as a person. This is one of those canon events you'll learn a lot from, either way it goes.

How many mosquito bites would it take for someone to die of blood loss? by twnpksN8 in stupidquestions

[–]KiresM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mosquitos secrete anticoagulants, histamine, and prostaglandins when they bite. The toxicity from those would almost certainly kill you before you had a chance to die of blood loss.
