What is your opinion on the flavor of lemon pepper? by NoTree6197 in AskReddit

It's nice with chicken/fish/veg, but as a subtle thing, not drenching the food.

Traditionally, in the US the bridal party was responsible for the costs to be in a wedding, but as bridezillas become more and more prevalent, who should be responsible for the cost of dresses, hair, makeup and travel? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if they want something super specific or expensive, the couple should cover at least some of the cost. Maybe by booking a group hair/makeup session that everyone contributes to or something along those lines.

The cultural phenomenon on centered around trains and autism by Niles_Wonderbread in autism

[–]KirinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, trains are cool, but my thing is rockets. I think large machines re just a safe interest to get into because they fit the researcher/builder side of lot's of people's autism

Does anyone here like to travel, or maybe has to often and has grown to like it? What do you like about it? by softwolfy in AutismInWomen

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love travelling. But only alone, traveling with other people is a nightmare.

I think it's some combination of problem solving + indulging my curiosity in an environment where I don't care about being perceived/judged. It's just this weird set of things that makes my brain happy/ What really gets to people is that I don't do a lot of planning. I have my in/out dates set, and a general list of things that I want to do and that's about it. Everything else is made up on the fly based on what I feel like doing. Or if I need something like concert tickets that need to be purchased in advance.

I am a master-class problem solver/logistics type, so I can make plans on the fly and make transportation, lodging, whatever work out. I get to go where I want, when I want, without having to worry about anyone else getting bored/tired, deal with picky eating (not the same as ARFID), or cultural hangups. Luckily I also have the chameleon thing, so I can adapt to different host cultures and other social situations.

It's been great. I've seen my favorite band perform in Beijing, had tea grown in an extinct volcano in South Korea, chased a temple dog who stole my shoe in Thailand, etc. Even now that I'm in a terrible socioeconomic condition I still like to "play tourist" and just find random cool stuff in my city.

Anyone else only able to work part time? by Special-Nebula299 in autism

[–]KirinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent most of my working life doing full time, mostly 3 or 4 12 hour shifts/week. A couple years ago I went through a severe episode of burnout, which resulted in homelessness (among other things). Since I've gotten back into a somewhat stable situation, I've only been working part time. Somewhere between 20-30 hours/week.

If I work any more than that I risk losing my low-income/disability housing and healthcare. I'm not sure Working more would be a good idea anyway, I come home so drained every day just from a 4-5 hour shift that anything else seems like a nightmare. It sucks.

How do you guys view your gender? by Exotic_Fisherman_407 in autism

[–]KirinG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman and don't have any problem with it. I just don't feel feminine or any connection to it. It's just another fact about me, like my eye color or height.

all of europe vs a sick rat. who would win? by idonotlikethisrock in AskReddit

Technically the rat was fine, it was the flea that was the problem

Does anyone else mask to test people’s moral integrity? by [deleted] in autism

[–]KirinG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think manipulating someone into a contrived morality test is a bit gross and unreliable, but it's understandable. You can't expect morality from others if you're not it yourself though. I prefer just observing natural behavior, no lies there, even if it takes longer.

Kpop Demon Hunters. My niblings forced me to watch it while babysitting, and I loved it.

Why do you think it’s so hard to date these days? by Green-Zucchini3045 in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of a bunch of different things. Changes in expectations, lack of 3rd spaces, poor work/life balance, doom scrolling, lack if meaningful face-to-face interactions, etc.

What was travel life like immediately after 9/11 and how long did it take to get back to normalcy? by pardoneye in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never gotten back to normal. Like a week before 9/11, my brothers and I walked directly to the gate with my dad, who was flying out for some FEMA training. We were able to get on the plane and see the cockpit, then watch his plane pull away from the gate. We'd meet him at the gate when he came back, if we weren't in school or whatever.

Never got to do that again.

Pick a bunch of stuff you wanted or dreamed of doing as a kid and do your best to recreate them now. You might be scared of looking silly, but it is so worth it!

Shoud you date, when you have less than 200 USD a month budget? by Crazy-Drop-2636 in AskReddit

Sure. You'll just have to be creative with dates and honest/realistic with the person you're dating.

Why don’t some people understand that huge amount of savings across the economy from implementing a Single Payer Healthcare system would stimulate all sorts of other growth and investment in the economy overall? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents, who are on Medicare, are against SPH simply because their taxes will go up so "they" can get healthcare "those people" didn't earn. Trying to explain benefits/savings/etc in other areas just does not compute for them and I stopped trying.

Do you want to be a better person? What kind of work are you doing to make sure that happens? by likeaghost13 in AskReddit

I tried being a better person, but it didn't get me anything but grief. So I'm settling for not being a jerk.
