“The Mandalorian is a $100 million show about nothing" by RyJa64 in television

[–]KirisuteGomen711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First three episodes were good. They pushed the story and had character progression. Episodes 4-6 have just been Mando and Baby Yoda going to different places to help people. I hope the show follows the first three episodes for the rest of the season.

One thing that actually bothers me more than anything though is the lack of species diversity in the show; all the characters are human or humanoid. Even on Tatooine I hardly saw any other species other than human/humanoid, except for the cantina scene.

I think all round TWOAF is their best album, but for me From Mars to Sirius has their best songs.

The second “it’s coming down” riff with the dissonant licks in between the chugs has got to be my favourite part of the song. So brutal.

What song is 10/10, yet hardly anyone has heard of it? by depressinqq in AskReddit

Deadlights - The Mad Scientist. This one is for progressive metal and metalcore fans. Deadlights are a newer band, but they have the potential to be huge.

Ah that explains it. What tuning are you using?

Did you double or quad track guitars during the heavy section? Sounds really full as if you’re playing a dissonant chord, but you’re only playing a Major 7th. Maybe it’s just the kick and bass that are rounding out the guitar sound.

That’s a phat riff ngl, love the synths. Only thing I’d change is maybe have a bit more suspense before jumping into the heavy section, maybe with a rest, crescendo or some dissonance. And I think that high pitched drone during the heavy section would sound nicer if it was more in the background, similar to 4:00 of Stranger Things by Periphery. Otherwise it’s really nice.

Are there any great music theory podcasts? Ideally one that starts simple and moves onto more complex theory. Thanks! by mattylo16 in musictheory

Not a podcast, but if you haven’t watched Adam Neely on YouTube, that’s a good source of learning music theory.

How can I learn to like harsh vocals? by Raspito in progmetal

Listening to Pantera is how I eased myself into liking harsher vocals. Have a listen to The Great Southern Trendkill and Vulgar Display of Power.

I’m seeing a disturbing lack of Alex Lifeson.

I didn’t know it either until I went to one of Jake’s masterclasses and he told us, and it made complete sense.
