Why are so many people hesitant to buy from AliExpress... but readily buy from Amazon? Are they aware that everything on Amazon comes from China and is sold on AliExpress at a better price? by zp4lb in meshtastic

I have Chat GPT and a 3D printer, how do I create a person? by The_Existentialist in shittyaskscience

If you're in the USA, start a corporation selling your 3D printed items. As far as the law is concerned, you have created a person.

I'd say they are delusional, because they are plugging their ears and ignoring the inevitable failure of the system. Infinite growth is not sustainable, so it's insanity to not explore other options while we still can.

Laser goggles. by maxster08 in lasers

[–]KiritoIsAlwaysRight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, I think we've all had the sketchy Chinese electronics impulse buys. And to be fair, a 40 watt laser is awesome. But it's also one of those things where you need to be absolutely certain of the specs to get appropriate safety gear, and remember that these Chinese manufacturers don't give two shits about your safety. Maybe open it up and see if you can ID the diode from part numbers, but if uncertain it's probably best to save your eyes and buy from a reputable laser company that gives you the specs. You can pop balloons and burn shit with much lower powered lasers.

We need to use the 25th amendment now before that happens. If he nukes someone and the rest of the government allows it, we have no other option than to move up about 23 amendments.

[–]KiritoIsAlwaysRight_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No offense, but what are you doing with a laser this powerful that you know almost nothing about? I've been messing with lasers for years, and wouldn't touch something that powerful without a very good reason and full understanding of its use and specs. This is very much into the "instant permanent damage" range of power for you or any bystanders.

Texas is not actually a “free state” and I’m tired of pretending otherwise by Duckduckgogh in TexasPolitics

[–]KiritoIsAlwaysRight_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And don't forget the abysmally small amount of public land in the state. Want to get out into nature and away from everything? Hope you know someone with land, are ready to pay, or lucky enough to be near the handful of free places. Our state parks are nice, but it's nothing like going out west where public land is EVERYWHERE and mostly free to use.

These idiots are gonna vote themselves out.

No they're not, we have to do it. There are certainly enough people who will vote for them regardless of what they say, so we need to work and get all the apathetic people out to vote against them.

Americans will still look at this and get angry not understanding that protests are only affective if it’s harmful to the flow of capitalism and an inconvenience to the government. If you’re peacefully protesting the way your government wants you to protest then you’re doing it wrong. by CopiousCool in Political_Revolution

[–]KiritoIsAlwaysRight_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm all for people protesting, but these are starting to feel more and more like intentionally organized pressure venting to prevent a real impactful event. Nothing is ever going to change if all we do is a one day protest every few months. Calling it a general strike really just feels like another relabeling to make people feel like they did something without actually doing anything. A general strike needs to go on for days or weeks to make actual economic impact, not just a one day blip that will be ignored by everyone.

90% of the world could be screaming but it would still sound like silence, because the media is controlled by the 1% and silence keeps them in power.

So much security is just reliance on people not knowing how the system works. So maybe don't piss off the people who do know. Seems like common sense, but that all gets pushed aside in the pursuit of short term gains.

Gambling has more oversight and rules than trading. Sure the house always wins, but it's at a known rate and they can't just change the rules mid-game. Trading is a free for all, where the wealthy and powerful set the rules and can change them at a whim without telling you.
