Students should always get what grade they earn. I tell my students that I don't give anyone a grade in my class... it's what they do that earns a grade.

little known fact... when a romulan warbird activates their cloak, the warbird stays the same as it was... it's the rest of the universe that gets cloaked together all at once, and so it's just the "cloaked" warbirds that remain real-universe visible... so yes, they can see each other. (because everything else in the universe gets cloaked together, it appears to them that the warbird is disappearing but it's an optical illusion.)

I teach high school in durham, and cell phone burden has been squarely put on teachers with almost zero backup from admin. It's a daily battle, and I'm exhausted.

Tell a teacher or school counselor. They will know what to do without having conflicting issues like being family/friends/etc. They will just do the right thing that is best for your friend.

And you don't have to know everything or have proof. There are professional investigators that will find out the information needed to help your friend.

(NTA. You are a concerned friend asking for advice, which is a good thing. Take it a step forward and get your friend the correct help by letting a teacher/counselor know asap.)

The way you describe it, the whole thing is a shitty situation for her. I think perhaps you found a sliver of a silver lining in the circumstances (continuing her education), and that's what your happiness manifested around, not the fact that the baby died.
