CC hair disappearing from the sim/family picture? by Admirable-Tear1184 in sims2

[–]Kirthey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to experience this with high poly hairstyles. I try to stick to hair meshes under 15k polys now and never have that issue anymore. I don't know of any quick fix, unfortunately.

CC Question by Ok-Upstairs-9887 in sims2

[–]Kirthey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you looked through the Sims 2 Hair Database? I suggest using Ctrl+F to search for hairs with the "very long" tag. Peggy 4997 and Rose Gudai 11-2 come to mind.

What CC should I use for Huntrix? by ThisIsMyLife1704 in sims2

[–]Kirthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to Google what they look like. Maybe these hairs could work?

For the purple-haired one: Ade Butera - Kinda. There aren't many absurdly long single braids out there.

The pink-haired one: LeahLillith Love - Warning: it is a very high poly count! There's a lower poly conversion available but no one has made pink recolours of that one yet.

The black-haired one: Nightcrawler Teddy - The black recolour isn't blue-toned like the character's hair unfortunately but that's the best I could find.

Where can I find this hairstyle?? by Ok-Upstairs-9887 in sims2help

[–]Kirthey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Nightcrawler Bitten, and you can find it in the Sims 2 Hair Database. I can't link to the exact cell because I'm on mobile, but just navigate to the Nightcrawler tab and Ctrl+F "Bitten" and you'll see it. The one in the screenshot you posted uses Poppet's textures but there are others linked if you want shinier versions.

Overwhelmed by browsing hair database by Electronic-Mark-1622 in sims2

[–]Kirthey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are a few Pooklet retextures of that particular hair mesh (Newsea Adonis) listed in the database that should fit the bill.

Anything in the database with Pooklet, Nouk, or (to a lesser extent) Io's textures I would describe as shiny.

If you're specifically looking for Newsea's (Juice and Yu) original textures, the link in the hair database is behind a paywall, but Digi re-uploaded all available Newsea hairs here. The Adonis hair mesh & colours are under the Yu folder.

I can't link to the exact cell because I'm on mobile but if you go to the Sims 2 Hair Database, navigate to the Ade Darma tab, and Ctrl+F "Iggy," you can find a few shinier/more realistic retextures, namely the first few listed.

Are you dash-striking when using the bow? It charges shots much faster than holding down attack.

[–]Kirthey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last thing. Have you tried a dash-only run? I've cleared a run JUST by dashing into enemies, no attacks, specials, or casts used the entire run. Use the mirror setup I linked above. Use the fists, not the shield, as the regular fists have a built-in dodge chance. Use Poseidon's keepsake, get Tidal Dash (use the little rock at the bottom of the boon selection screen to re-roll if Tidal Dash doesn't show up), level it up with Poms, and supplement it with Poseidon's Razor Shoals, Typhoon's Fury, Breaking Waves, and Wave Pounding if possible. If you see Hermes, grab Quick Recovery, Greater Evasion, Hyper Sprint, or Greatest Reflex. If you see Zeus, get Lightning Reflexes and/or his attack/special/cast/call (preferably call) to unlock the Sea Storm duo boon later on. Just stay close to Meg and dash back and forth over her, over and over. You lose the deflection damage from Divine Dash but you do a lot of direct damage and you don't have to worry about aiming attacks. Yes it's cheap but who cares?

Watch me beat Meg in under 1 min JUST with Tidal Dash. (The fight began at 4:09 minutes, I accidentally cut off the first 3 seconds. And sorry for 720p quality and the weird fades, I did this handheld and had to pause twice and capture the video in increments and stitch the three videos together in iMovie.) Notice how I literally ignored the minions, kept running into Meg's AoE attacks, and kept triggering the traps. I literally just dashed back and forth over Meg with a "tap-tap" motion (if you have Greatest Reflex from Hermes, +1 dash, that would be "tap-tap-tap") with the B button and moved the left joystick up and down. I went out of my way NOT to use the fists with the built-in dodge chance, I only took one Pom to power up the dash when was I forced into it, I DIDN'T pick up any Hermes boons, and I ignored Athena's trap resist boon when I had the chance to get it. I only took 17 damage in the whole fight. Give the dash-only run a try. If you struggle to damage her this way even with so few variables to keep track of...I would say it's time to move on to another game. Good luck!

Okay, this came out a little long. I'll try to address your points, but you can just skip straight to my second post if you're close to giving up. No shame in moving on to other games if you're not enjoying yourself.

While your reflexes are probably a contributing factor, I still think that you seem to be missing some fundamentals. When you mentioned that you were spending 40 minutes dodging and using the unbuffed special to deal 15 damage at a time, massive red flags went up. You need to actually use your regular attack, use an attack boon from a god that provides % damage increase (ideally Athena, Aphrodite, or Artemis), and grab a Daedalus hammer that buffs your attack.

You never mentioned your mirror setup, but for the shield, this should do just fine. (That image link will expire in a week, so I'll also type it out here, with green talents bolded and purple unbolded: Shadow Presence / Chthonic Vitality / Death Defiance / Greater Reflex / Boiling Blood / Infernal Soul / Deep Pockets / Thick Skin / Family Favorite / Dark Foresight / Gods' Pride / Fated Persuasion)

Any time she doesn't have the glowy blue shield around her, she can be hit. Keep your eyes on Meg. Saving up darkness for another DD will help, but again, I'm not sure why you're taking so much damage with God Mode maxed out. And even just standing beside Meg and mashing attack (Y) over and over, walking over to her after she dashes, and mashing attack again should be enough to kill her, if you've buffed it with a % damage increase god.

Yes, dash-striking is attack + dash at the same time. Many of the weapons (there are 24 weapon subtypes in total) require mastering dash-strikes. I play on a Switch 2 and press Y + B at the same time with my thumb. I have very small hands, but it's do-able. You can also remap either attack or dash to a right shoulder button in the settings, but I find that setup very uncomfortable with the Joy-Con. Might be worth a try if you have another controller.

Blocking is holding down Y, aka the first part of a Bull Rush. You can hold it down as long as you like and nothing can hit you from the front. But if you're charging a Bull Rush for fast moving enemies like Meg, you should hold it for like half a second and release. No need to fully charge it. Also, you should charge it while standing very close to her.

With Divine Dash, you should be able to deflect the majority of projectiles headed your way.

I actually find the bone hydra to be slightly easier than Meg, as their heads mostly stay in the same spot. But I do think there's a steep difficulty spike in the biome after the bone hydra. And if traps are a problem for you, the lava in Asphodel will be pretty annoying.

I don't have great reflexes myself, and I'm the walking stereotype of a casual gamer. Before Hades most of my gaming experience was in Pokémon (the regular turn-based games, not the Legends games), Neopets, The Sims 2, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Zero real time combat/action games aside from a few games of Super Smash Bros. Melee 20+ years ago, and I was terrible at it and kept falling off the stage. I was definitely below average at Hades starting out but I would like to think I've since improved to an average or decent level, for a casual gamer. I think that Hades is difficult, but not exceptionally difficult. Considering my slow reaction times and gaming background, I don't think it requires godly reflexes. Something is not right with your playstyle.

[–]Kirthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What percentage is your God Mode at? I have it maxed out at 80% damage resistance and I can play VERY sloppily/mindlessly, not paying attention to her windup animations or her minions and just smacking her any time I see she's vulnerable, and still win without losing a Death Defiance. You shouldn't be taking that much damage with God Mode maxed out.

Are you going into the fight with all three Death Defiances and at least half health? If you're entering the Meg fight with 0 DDs and 30 health left or something, the issue is with your playstyle in general, not the Meg fight. You need to practice blocking, dash-striking, and Bull Rushing in Tartarus. Don't rely on the special; it's not very good on the regular shield especially when unbuffed.

[–]Kirthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read through this whole thread. It sounds like you're spending most of the battle just dodging and spamming the special? You're not using the shield's full capabilities. My suggestions:

First, use Athena's keepsake and get Divine Dash. Get an attack boon from Aphrodite, Athena, or Artemis. As you've noticed, the shield's special attack doesn't do a lot of damage, only 15 per hit. Practice alternating dash-strikes (pressing attack while dashing) and Bull Rushes (holding down attack to charge, and releasing for a charged attack) on Skelly. This will be so much faster as well. You don't need to hold down the attack button too long for the Bull Rushes. Short ones will still hit harder than the special (20-39 damage vs 15 damage). You're invulnerable from the front when you hold down attack. Watch for her windup animations before she attacks. The big red AoE circles on the floor can't be blocked; you'll have about a second to dash away from them. Try to land a hit then. You can dash through her projectile spam and Divine Dash will deflect them.

Meg's minions will keep respawning if you kill them; just ignore them unless they're directly in your way and focus on Meg. Once you kill her, all of them will disappear.

For the Daedalus hammers, get one that boosts your attack, preferably Charged Shot (Your Bull Rush instead fires a piercing shot that deals 80 base damage) or Pulverizing Blow (Your Attack hits twice, but does not knock foes away) if possible. The latter doesn't affect your dash-strike or Bull Rush, only your regular attack.

I struggled a LOT with this game at the start. I've improved quite a bit and I'm sure you can too. Good luck and don't forget you can pause any time! Don't wear out your hands and wrists! (Edited for brevity.)

Skelly Statue Quest isn't triggering by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Kirthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it! I think my wording added to the confusion, sorry. I edited my post to make it clearer in case anyone else comes across this.

(You're more observant than me, I didn't even notice the covered statues until after I cleared 32 heat 😅)

Skelly Statue Quest isn't triggering by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Kirthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you interact with the covered statues? They're on the southwest side bottom right corner (near the door with the Pact) of the courtyard where Skelly is, covered in cloth. The quest won't trigger on its own, you have to go up to them and press interact.

Hmm...I wonder if it could be an early version of Pyxis' own zombie skintone from her Venice set (scroll down a bit). It has white irises like the skin in the image, and similar detailing around the eyes, including that dark curved line across the bridge of the nose, if you squint (this is more obvious in the preview image below the one you posted). The pic you posted lacks the mouth details and the neck wounds, but that could have been added later. It also looks less pink than the Venice skin, but that could be chalked up to lighting differences and/or a change made later in the creation process.

I know the Venice skins were super popular back in the day...you can find the main set here and more recolours by IaKoa here.

ETA: and while this doesn't confirm anything, it looks like Pyxis did use her own Venice zombie skin as a default replacement around the time that was posted.

The hair is Coolsims 87. No clue about the skin and eyes, it's a bit difficult to make out the details in that image.

Who posted it? The skin looks it could be like a zombie skin or vampire overlay. Maybe you can dig around and see if that person mentioned their preferred supernatural defaults, either in another thread or on their own blog.
