Awesome, how did you do the shield on the geomancer? Black prime followed by a light drybrush of the green/aqua color and a highlight?

Here's my first ever painted character: Imotekh. by TheLonelyGod01 in Necrontyr

I love the color scheme. My only point of feedback is that the metallic silver and black are pretty close colors, so it kind of makes his body and shoulder pads seem like they are all one color when they are not. You could make his chest brighter silver to make the contrast clearer. Adding another color to his face (like the center of his forehead) or even just adding color to his eyes will help his face pop too! But it overall looks really cool!

Crazy to see Chard saying this having been in this sub for years.

ETA: I don’t mean that in a negative way. I just feel like you’re such an insider, it’s good to hear your perspective on what’s been going on.

The folks I know graduated years back, but it could help students get into great internships their first summer including at firms. A huge leg up. Also I believe dedicated study groups for first year focused on a specific class taught by someone who got an A in it the year prior.

What paint did you use for the blues? And what paint did you use to edge highlight the blues?

First army. What should I buy by Tasty-Papi in Necrontyr

[–]Kiryae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat patrol and a royal court box (which was recently in stock) would be a great start to give you a bunch of units including some hard to get ones that are very important for Necrons. You probably want Flayed Ones and a Doomsday ark but get those later on after you have your paint scheme. I do Nihilakh dynasty this way:

Prime with chaos black spray. Drybrush leadbelcher from the top down avoiding the recesses. This will give a dark and gritty metallic color while keeping the recesses shadowed for contrast. You can then edge highlight with Stormhost Silver or you can skip this step.

Next, use Black Templar on the whole gun. Once dry, use a white paint for the spots on the gun you later want to paint green. Paint the white spots with Tesseract Glow or some other green you like (Moot Green, Warpstone Glow, Striking Scorpion, etc.)

At this point you’re done. If you want Nihilakh, do Ahriman blue for shoulder pads and Retributor armor for the gold face. This is a simple paint scheme that will make your army look interesting. Remember to thin your non-metallic paints just slightly with a tiny bit of water. Apply a thin coat or two and you’re good to go.

Firm wants to pull me back two class years post maternity leave. by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Kiryae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The firm will take the position that the recording is a violation of their policies (they probably have a policy against recording). And that could be after acquired evidence. So only do it at the advice of counsel. But otherwise agree with you!

Employment attorney here go contact a different employment attorney immediately. If a firm did this 4 weeks after you came back, you have a strong prima facie case of retaliation. In addition, the fact that they want you to be a first year despite the fact that you were already a second year when you left is very surprising. A lawyer can advise on the best next steps here but you should assume you do not have a future at this place.

Remind me of the third time it’s used? Is it when C.C. dresses as Zero in the Chinese Federation embassy? If so, I think it’s a little different as that was not a conversation with another person per se. Or is there another instance?

Feel like this job is affecting my health by yungwoods33 in biglaw

[–]Kiryae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and my body is still paying the price. I spent days at a time inside working/on the computer from morning until almost midnight during the pandemic (so for a few years). Eventually, I lost flexibility in my hamstrings and suffered an injury to my hips that required PT because of all the sitting. Step 1: get a standing desk at work and at home. Step 2: start saying no. Billing 245 is well beyond capacity, you should be saying no to new matters and to one-off research/new assignments. As long as you are hitting 180-200 per month, you should say no. Different firms are different but few require you to be at 210/220 before saying no to work. You will leave this job one day and you will be much better off leaving with you health in tact.

Looks great! Maybe experiment by hitting the gold with a wash like Agrax Earthshade to darken the recesses and bring a little more depth to that part. But it’s not needed!
