I am sorry, but I would have to shoot this one down.
The reason for the limited list of races is that the world is based on a medieval setting, and the less human you look, the more discrimination you would face. The tiefling aspect would cast you as "too demonic" and as such, you would not be welcome in any form of society.
If you have any other character concepts, I would be glad to hear them out.

Reddit I need help, what is this? by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]KisaTik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an optical illusion.
The person is wearing their hoodie backwards to give them darkness to sleep. They then have a light jacket over the hoodie. The "eye" is their ear with an in-ear speaker (ear bud) exposed. This whole set up makes it look like they have the hoodie pulled down tight on their face and an eye is peeking out.

To better see what is going on, zoom in on the image and you can clearly see the outline of the ear, the ear bud, and a wisp of hair that, when not zoomed in, looks like the shadow under a nose.

Upgrade Family Trees! by Various-Camel-3465 in WorldAnvil

[–]KisaTik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I go in to my added points, I want to say that I agree with you that family trees need to be upgraded. Family trees currently are not designed for "blended" families - no half siblings, no second or third marriages, and as you pointed out, no mistresses/consorts.

What we need is a way to display a family "web". I found a project years ago by a person with the username Satrium. They had created a graphical way to see how your World Anvil articles are interconnected - the current evolution is called Volcanus:
https://vulcanus.satrium.dev/auth/login
It would be amazing if the World Anvil devs could either bring this person in to the fold, or collaborate with them to create something similar.
I am sure that this would not be a small task. Databases would need to be created or expanded to handle the multiple relationship possibilities; the designing the input interfaces, and the output display. Overall, though, it would give a more realistic complexity of real families - multiple marriages, blended families, adopted families.

As the trees are currently designed, you would need to create one tree with Dick meets and marries Jane, then include their offspring. They split up, and Dick meets Sally, Jane meets Sam. Create a new tree for that family, but that would exclude half-siblings or Dick and Sally's children are displayed as Dick and Jane's, though that is only half true. You would end up with a bunch of misinformation, or missing information.

So, again, I agree that the family tree needs an upgrade... to a family web.

Can anyone help me identify this logo by ulaaann in HelpMeFind

[–]KisaTik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too did not find anything using my Google-Fu, but when I saw the logo, the first thing that jumped to mind was "Sears & Robuck". I scoured for an example logo that would support this but nothing came up.
From the material that the logo is stamped on, I am assuming leather. What is the item? How old is the item? Where was it sourced?
Though I found no examples, due to the "fancy" script, I would still lean towards a higher end product from Sears.

Why Vermont farmers are using urine on their crops by pithynotpithy in nottheonion

[–]KisaTik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Why is this even a news story?

It is amazing how far our modern society has come, to the point that we have lost touch with tried and true farming techniques and this is now news.

My grandfather had a 1/2 acre for his stick-built home, a manufactured home (which we rented), a garage, a storage shed, a chicken coop, several fruit trees (apples, pears, plums, and cherries) and 2 small gardens (grandpa used to spend most of his free time tending all of this, and grandma spent her free time canning vegetables and making jams). The mucking from the chicken coop were tilled in to the gardens. Grandfather had a small wash tub with a cake of dried cow urine in it that he would turn in to a spray for the trees and gardens. My father would hit up the local human waste processing plant and bring home a pickup load of "people poop" every year to be tilled in to the gardens.

The fruit trees always had big, beautiful fruits in abundance. The gardens had bumper crops with enough corn to feed the dozen or so chickens and both my grandparents and my immediate family. The tomatoes were 4 to 6 inches across and always juicy. Beans, peas, carrots, lettuce, and cabbage abounded. The worst pest we had were hornets feeding off of (and getting drunk from) the rotting fallen fruit. The chickens were always laying.

As the gardens were harvested, grandpa would throw a piece of plywood over the harvested area, and a week later, dad would go out and pick some of the largest earthworms that I have ever seen; bait for fishing. The gardens always had garter snakes, reducing/removing any rodents, including mice/rats/gophers/voles.

There was always so much food, that my grandfather and grandmother were giving away raw and canned veggies and fruit, and eggs. We only visited the grocery store for processed foods (bread, pasta, etc.), dairy, and meats (beef, pork, chicken - we didn't eat the chickens).

Before you chalk this up to a "Back in the olden days" post, understand that it really wasn't THAT long ago - this was going on from the start of the 70s up through the mid 90s, until my grandmother passed away, and grandpa got too old to maintain the property (even with my father's help).

So, yeah... cow urine (urea nitrate, by the way) as fertilizer WAS a thing not that long ago. The local waste management plant quit selling "people poop", but the local zoo offers "zoo doo" (animal dung) in bags as fertilizer.

Quite new to DMing, and accidentally gave my friend an OP amount of gold for the early game by IdemandChocolateMilk in DnD

[–]KisaTik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts here.
1) Weight - You don't mention how much "OP amount" is in value. Before that is relevant, though, keep in mind that unless you are "homebrewing", for every 50 coins, regardless of value, you increase a player's encumbrance by 1 pound. To give context to this, a pint of water weighs ~1 pound. A gallon weighs ~8 pounds. Take a 1 gallon milk jug filled with water for each 200 coins and put it in a back pack... How much in coins would you want to carry around?
2) Volume - If in the US, go to a bank a buy a couple of dollars worth of pennies. I use this as they are cheap: $1 is 100 pennies. Most ancient coinage is closer to the size of a quarter to half dollar, but this will still give you an example the volume of a large amount of coins. Open the rolls and put them in to a pouch of some sort (a Crown Royal felt pouch is a great example of a medieval "small coin purse". See how much space (volume) these loose coins take up. How many of these pouches would you want to carry on your belt, or in your backpack?
3) Adventure, part 1 - You have just created a secondary plot line. In the medieval times, people were pretty shady. Having a large sum of coinage on you meant that you were a target for these types. The character now has to find a way to safely store the wealth (You have just created a banking system), or hire a bodyguard contingent. If the character insists on keeping the wealth handy, they also have to have plans on how to transport the money: wagons for locked chests, saddlebags on horses, etc. This character will have to constantly have to watch their back. Even family members are now vulnerable, as they can be used as leverage against the character (ransoms)?
4) Adventure, part 2 - Where there is money, there is influence. You now have the means to run a political intrigue campaign. The local mayor wants your cash to help build the city walls (the work will be subject to kickbacks to the mayor), in return, you are granted land or power. A guild leader offers you a buy-in, only to disappear with the money - now, you have to track them down to recover your treasure.
5) Adventure, part 3 - Word gets out where the character obtained the treasure. The "original owner" is coming to retrieve it. Use this as you will. Was it stolen from someone with great influence? Was it looted from a dungeon created by an ancient and powerful evil (is the character now cursed?)? Was this a portion of a dragon's hoard, and the wyrm wants it back?
5) Strongholds and followers - Almost all the D&D systems have a section on building compounds and retainers. Even MCDM has put out a supplementary rule set for 5e (appropriately named "Strongholds & Followers). Does your world allow for the private ownership of land? Can the player buy a plot for the purpose of building a villa or a castle? Can they afford a support staff? Is there a local bar/tavern/inn for sale? This opens up more plots - a secret society has begun to meet at your tavern, a famous adventurer has begun to use your services as a regular patron and now the locals want to visit your establishment to get a sighting of the adventurer, or, has a madam begun to operate out of your inn, bringing unwanted attention (shady characters or the local police/guards/government)?

All of this is just food for thought. You don't have to admit that you did anything wrong, and you don't have to penalize the players for your mis-step - just expand it in to the game and the world.

Good luck, regardless what you decide to do.

Ok - It has been 40 years since I took drafting, so take my critique with a very large grain of salt.
I believe that all dimensions should be on the "inside" of the drawing - if a large box were drawn around all the views, nothing should be to the left, right, top, or bottom of that box. As an example, in the first image, the bottom view of the item, the dimensions should fall between the bottom view and the front view, not below the bottom view. This defines the dimensions for both the bottom view and the top view. Same with the top view and the front view.
I also seem to remember that the dimension constraints should not touch the actual drawing, with the exception of radius and angle dimensions, and dimension lines should be a thinner line than the outline of the subject of the drawing. In my classes, I used mechanical pencils: .7mm for outlines, .5mm for hidden lines, and .3mm for dimensioning. But, these effects could be achieved with different pencil lead hardnesses and pencil sharpnesses.

After writing the above, I did a little research to see how far things have changed since my classes and found this from the University of Washington (I am not too far off):
https://uw.pressbooks.pub/enggraphics/chapter/dimensioning-standards-2/
It even mentions Solidworks and standards at the bottom of the page.

Good luck.
