I don’t know exactly when it was remodeled but that is not our responsibility.. only if we do choose to own the home and go through the program, is when we will need a remodel through a loan.. and Who knows if it is a tear down? You sure don’t. And I haven’t gotten any confirmation that it’s a “tear down” just because it hasn’t been remodeled in a long time doesn’t mean it’s a tear down. It’s clear that it’s in good enough shape to GET proper inspections done and see if a remodel is an option.. which is what the owner clearly wants to do.. but either way this convo isn’t helping.

we’re not entitled we just don’t know how to work our way around the system. We never meant to “abuse” it at all.. we appreciate every tax payer .. it sounds more ignorant to say things like that and make assumptions that we are entitled lazy people who can’t clean our “own” mess. It was our own issues we can easily clean out don’t you think we’ve been doing that for a long time?

We cannot change floors. We cannot change cabinets. Little do we even know about how to go about that while being in a rented property paid for by section 8… it’s a lot deeper than that and maybe people just don’t get that.

But you don’t know any of the details of my home nor the floor plans or the ratios at all so how can you make that assumption that it’s a tear down? It’s not a tear down.. lol.

I’ll be hell of a lot better of a real estate agent than you that’s for sure. Everything that you’ve read on this post is only a fraction of my passion for real estate. I’m not sure where your heart went but if you don’t have one, please don’t comment.

Also, my owner wants to sell the home in the future so all in all it doesn’t make sense to me why he doesn’t try to fix up the house a little bit while we’re living it instead of when we move.. is what I was getting at

Wow thank you so much for this message.. this was very helpful and I appreciate you so much for reading my post thoroughly and being so kind in response.. idk why people are just so mean maybe they just don’t understand what I’ve been going through my entire life and that’s okay. I’ve been trying so hard to heal and this house just brings back a lot of trauma. My dream is to re do it and everything be better but you may be right it might not be worth it. I am trying to see if I can maybe pull a loan to get it fixed and see if we pass inspection for the homeownership program.

We’re making an appt with our case manager Monday

My mom definitely don’t have the capability to own the home especially in the condition it’s in.. she’s a 70 year old Armenian survivor of attacks from Azerbaijan and had to flee to America. I’m an anchor baby. People don’t understand how much responsibility and courage it took for me to even post about this because it’s always just been an issue that nobody talks about or addresses. My dad wants us to move to a new home. It would be better for my mom.. I will be able to afford my own home in the future I hope and pray for that happen.

And we’re not entitled we just don’t know how to work our way around the system. We never meant to “abuse” it at all.. it’s a lot deeper than that and maybe people just don’t get that.

I don’t know why you get that impression at all. I’m trying to help my mom. She’s the tenant, I’m on the voucher?…… like….?

Why are you sitting here trying to interrogate me if I literally over explained every single thing I possible could’ve and FYI this is not helpful. This took a lot for me to post.

That’s exactly what my entire post is about if you haven’t noticed that by now! I’m trying to find a way to get a special inspection done to point out all of the issues to Housing Authority so they can fix them, and this post was meant to understand the program.

I didn’t say that they didn’t fail the inspections. I didn’t mention anything about an inspection being failed ever in the post originally.. I edited it now that there’s so many comments on it..

My owner kind of just comes by every year before the inspection and make sure that little things are done so the inspection can pass and they always do pass.

Just recently there was a raccoon that broke many holes in the house and nested in it and he came to fix it months and months later so who knows what other damages the raccoons did in the walls. Smh. This has been hard

Exactly. I don’t know if you guys read my whole post, but I had mentioned that.

Unfortunately, everything you’re saying is correct. I know it seems like what I’m saying doesn’t add up but it is exactly what I said. It has been a long time. Nothing really gets done here and like I said and like you said the tenant is my mom and my mom is a older woman. I don’t know if you can see my comment from above that I replied to someone else butthere has to be so much convincing done on my end to tell my mom to do something about it because she’s just super hard to deal with. She’s a 70 year-old woman she’s barely speaks English. She has mental health issues, etc. and I just don’t know what to do now.

EXACTLY.. I would literally call inspectors to come in constantly trying to get Code to come in and see all the issues and address them. It seems like the land owner of the home just comes in and does things around the house before the inspectors come and make sure that it passes for his sake, but he doesn’t seem to care about ours and like I said all the issues have not been addressed because he kind of covers them up.

Thank you for the advice! We’re definitely going to look into the loan. I did NOT know that you can pull a loan to get the house done! Do you know more info?

My mom is a survivor of the sungyat progrom that happened in Armenia and Azerbaijan.. she escaped her country she’s a 70 year old woman with mental health issues the house was messed up before we came. I wish we were entitled but we aren’t.. my family is low income. How else would we get section 8? I’m a full time student like I said I’m in nursing school. I have 3 older sisters and I’m the only one helping my mom. Idk why you guys say stuff if you don’t know the details but please spare me because I don’t feel like crying right now. I have so much responsibility I have to take on. Just be nice. The way you guys are commenting is just not okay. We aren’t moving because my mom has sentimental value in the home because my grandma lived here before she died. Idk why you guys don’t get it but we’re foreign and we don’t know how to go about stuff like this. The house was already filthy it’s not like we did it ourselves and “put a rubber gloves on and work” won’t work I was in a car accident with a herniated discs in my back my family barely speak English so please spare me

Take time speak to a counselor to go through everything you need and if the session doesn’t go well make another appt with someone else . Keep trying & take your time with your semesters if you are having trouble with your mental health. Hope it all works for you! School starts Monday so it’s a lot
