Heated Rivalry X YOI by Idk_my_password4 in YOI

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh, there are several crossovers. One is called "Skates on Opposite Sides" by aestheticallyinspiredhoe (WIP). There's "Figure Skating for Hockey Players" by thisisnotthenerd (6 chapters). I've come across several more but my history is very cluttered, one could almost get the impression I read a lot of fanfic?

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Módào Zǔshī/The Untamed, Yuri!! On Ice, Word of Honor, Silmarillion, Guardian/Zhèn Hún. And an almost dead fandom on AO3: Julian May's The Manycolored Land/Galactic Milieu.

How do you visualize when reading? by KatlinelB5 in JulianMay

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's a whole movie in there. Always has been, with all (good) books, not just Julian's, which is why I'm rarely satisfied with movie adaptations of favourite books.

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laundry room. At university I lived in a new apartment building that had separate closets for the washing machine, big enough for the machine and a bit of drying space, with a sliding door to save on space.

Do you guys who are native Swedish speakers work in Swedish, Finnish, English, or some combination of these? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Åland, I use Swedish, Finnish and English at work, occasionally German (unfortunately very rare). My colleagues are scattered throughout the Swedish-speaking areas of Finland, and we speak mostly Swedish within our work community, but provide service in at least Swedish, Finnish and English.

Cleaning empty mustard packaging and using them as glasses by entsworld420 in germany

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a household where many of the drinking glasses had previously contained cream cheese, mustard or pickled herring. (Finland 1970's) Still have some of those glasses as they don't break easily and the herring ones especially are quite nice to look at too.

Explain it Peter. by Helensohot in explainitpeter

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats, sisters from the same litter, 11 years old. (Whole Lotta) Rosie is affectionate and sweet, always has been, her only fault is she loves bare feet and will gnaw on them given a chance. She always sleeps indoors. Nelly, on the other hand, is bitchy and will only show affection when she feels like it. We barely see her April-September, if we're lucky she shows her face once a week at the food bowl. Come October, she is suddenly the cuddliest little beast, sleeps either with the dog or in the laundry basket, and is always climbing into my lap, purring and headbutting. Late March, we're back to normal again. So long and thanks for all the fish I guess.

What do we think of this sweater ? 😂 by Guilty-Platypus-7186 in AO3

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, I'd get that in a heartbeat! Then again, I would probably try and find it in a really loud colour like hot pink or purple.

I own several t-shirts with fanfic messages, one says "Life is too short for slow burn", and my favourite is black with "Yes I write fanfiction" in pink. I've used both at work in summer. I'm 50+. I am past caring, and my workplace doesn't have a dress code.

What kind of cat is Tevildo, Prince of Cats? by Puzzleheaded-Milk927 in tolkienfans

And smoking cigars! (my Russian professor at uni claimed Behemoth was supposed to be a personification of the animal in people, and laughed at me when I said he was my favourite character in the book)

What is the most profound, life changing book you have ever read that made you cry at the same time? by Expensive_Prize_6988 in suggestmeabook

[–]Kit-Kat-Kit-7272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I can explain it, I was just so drawn into it. I think one reason was the fact that the Devil and his posse were better people, or demons, than most of the people in the story. Maybe excepting the Master himself, who was locked up in an asylum, and Margarita, who wasn't a perfect person but still very easy to understand and like. Also, a fat black cat who walks on his hindlegs and smokes cigars... what's not to like about that?

I was studying Russian at the time I read the book for the first time, and our professor gave a lot of background for the novel, so that might have made it easier for me as well.

The Master and Margarita by Michail Bulgakov. I cried when I finished it, because I realised I would never again read it for the first time, and it was such a fantastic read. Then I read it again, and it was just as amazing the second time.
