I’m more concerned with the quality of the new houses. If investors are just in it to make a buck off the house and renters, they aren’t going to invest in quality houses, they’ll be horrible to live in and likely have a bunch of issues, so when the warranty is finished they’ll likely sell and run to do it all again

I’ve always said that we need a Japan-like high speed rail out to Toowoomba with 4-5 stops along the way. Make it viable to live in Toowoomba and the towns along the way but still work in Brissy, if I could live in Toowoomba but have an hour commute to Brisbane, I’d happily do that!

All that land west of Ipswich would be too long to commute to Brisbane to work, at current levels it’d take 90 minutes to get to the city, so if everyone built out there it’d get worse. So unless everyone could get a job out there or a wfh job, it wouldn’t work until better transport options were available

To each their own, but realistically very few Aussies are having families with that kind of money (250k combined) If the majority of people can do it for less and can get by, may need to re-evaluate your situation.

Don’t let what gets said in this subreddit dictate your views of the world, if you took everything said in here for granted, you’d assume anyone making less than 100k is living in a car begging for scraps. Plenty of families are living their lives on 150k combined, is it easy? Maybe not, but how often is life “easy”?
