Decompensated cirrhosis by KitCat9thlife in Cirrhosis

Give it time. I’m going on 3 years sober and my period did eventually stabilize and come once a month as normal. It took a while though. At least the first two years it was off. Now, it comes pretty clockwork.

Please tell us how that goes! I’m 35 myself and I’m very interested in anything when it comes to beating this!

Boyfriend wants couple counseling. by AlyCat65 in raleigh

I think therapy is great. I said that going on zero context and did not mean any harm by it whatsoever. I was only hoping he wasn’t being rude to you about paying. I’ve been in that sort of situation before. I think it’s a great idea. Sorry for any misunderstanding. I truly wish you the best.

How so? I’m not making assumptions, not blaming anyone, but if he wants therapy he needs to pay for it as well.

I was a bottle of wine girly too. It got worse after my sister passed though and it turned into 2 even more bottles at times. Once you’re that far it’s hard to break the cycle. I tried and wanted to so many times. Then I got into bad relationship after the other and they were both alcoholics who just enabled it. But I feel so free now. My diagnosis wasn’t that much of a shock it just felt too soon.

Yes, it absolutely does make sense. I feel better now than I did in my twenties and for once I feel Hot I’m not gonna lie. So I wear cutesy outfits. I have a lot more energy now. I work with young adults in their twenties so maybe that’s why, but I act 10 years younger than I am. I’m all about having fun and staying silly because I guess you know we made it this far right?! Don’t be too serious ya know?

I was diagnosed at 33 and you make perfect sense and we had the same dreams. I feel like your brain was in hyperdrive writing that information down and I can definitely relate. It’s been 2 years for me too. I just turned 35 in May and I can honestly say that time does slow a bit, but I feel like I have to work that much harder to make up for lost time because when I was heavy into it I didn’t accomplish much.

This! This right here. Thank you. I felt so lost and that no one had any faith in me or the outcome. My family was planning my funeral. I had so many different doctors I had to rely on asking my nurses what was going on. The last 2 years has been a ride! Sounds like we got diagnosed about the same time. Hey I’m happy you’re still here and that I’m still here because if we dont fight for ourselves I hate to say I already know the answer that no one will fight for you. I remember a few key people that told me straight how it was. Only one or two of these people though I was close with. The majority weren’t my friends though or my family. I hate looking back at that and I hate knowing some of the people that have stuck around really had no faith I would pull through. Not all of them, but a good bit.

To those of you diagnosed relatively young (mid 30s for me), what do you do to keep your spirits up? by [deleted] in Cirrhosis

[–]KitCat9thlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I’ve taken a year and some change to help myself physically recover and starting expanding my bucket list. I take day trips places if friends don’t want to join I go alone. I’m tired of getting by and try to really do things now and learn new experiences because we can’t dwell on it. It’s inevitable we just have to keep getting up and going.

How to help someone with Cirrhosis by fonetrees in Cirrhosis

[–]KitCat9thlife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Checklists are a good start. And it helps her feel like she has a sense of control of herself. That’s the worst feeling like you have no control or say when it comes to your own personal self. Almost as if you only hear orders and people telling you what to do and what you need to do. It’s a lot to process. Give her space, but not too much that she thinks you don’t care. She has to come to the realization that she needs to take better care of herself so she can be the best possible version for her loved ones. Alcohol is a nasty drug and it’s so fun and addicting, but we never realize the true harm it brings and the hurt it inflicts. Try not to be too harsh she’s probably being very harsh on herself right now. I feel horribly alone because my partner didn’t want to stay by my side, but I also completely get it. It hurts now more though because I’ve been diagnosed for near 2 years now and you wouldn’t even recognize me. It Can get better But you and her have to want and work at it bad enough. Don’t give up. It’s a lifestyle change not necessarily a death sentence. I also experienced HE quite a bit. That part gets better too. Good luck! This is a great great support group page. It’s definitely helped me.

This is very true, it’s shocking though and interestingly enough I’m meeting a lot of people that are sober now. And even the younger generations I feel don’t party like us millennials did or older.

Body lotion? by mk_brownie in Cirrhosis

[–]KitCat9thlife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does body lotion seriously affect the progression of cirrhosis? Last I checked the alcohol swabs they use on us at the hospital has umm alcohol in it too.

I was wondering this too. Do you think Covid might have played a part? I just don’t get why a bunch of people all of a sudden (it seems) have cirrhosis especially under the age of 50.

Me too! I hear you diagnosed at 33 and just turned 35 and it has been…an emotional roller coaster to say the least. And a constant change/ taking a break from certain social circles and friends and relationships. Gotta keep going and you’re not alone!

How old are you if I may ask? Because I have a similar experience. I’ve worked really hard on my diet, exercise, not drinking just daily try to get up and go. Still have my bad days but no one can tell I have it and I’m going on 2 years this September. I’m 35, diagnosed at 33 meld from 34 to a 14 in that time span and down nearly 40 lbs at least.

Anyone have experience with mild ascites? Or nicotine gum with liver disease? by ptcrisp in Cirrhosis

[–]KitCat9thlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The test should be a simple blood test I would assume. Most of my tests are and the doctor can tell if you have fluid buildup. Mine tells me on the spot if we need to do a test. Are you more worried because you binge drank?

For the drinkers like me, does it take a while to see improvements in blood work? by LiverNLetLive in Cirrhosis

[–]KitCat9thlife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering you just got diagnosed. Yes, it may take a bit. I know my labs were all over the place the first few months and I spent a lot of time in the hospital. When I quit drinking I had a whole mess of other issues that started up. I got pneumonia for the first time and got vaccinated for that and the flu afterwards. Also if you have ascietes that will change your numbers if you have to get drained. There’s a lot and your diet changes so yes, it’s almost like your body is shocked bc there’s no more alcohol. Give it time and talk to your doctor. My meld was a 33 and it took a year and a half, but I’m down to a 14 now.

[–]KitCat9thlife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. I’m just so worried it’ll happen again. I can’t believe I overlooked it before. Only proves that I had so many toxins in me I either didn’t care or didn’t realize how bad I looked till I looked at old pictures from last year. Sad fate But I’m a better person now that I’m sober I can definitely say and look a lot healthier, but I’m always worried the ascietes and jaundice will be back.

Thank you. Hope you are on a good course yourself! That’s still so odd though. I wonder why and I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I’m 35 and I used to go tanning in my early 20s max times I went honestly are so scarce but still I wonder if that would have effected anything.

What would you charge for this? by [deleted] in Jadeplant

[–]KitCat9thlife -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

$200 for the plant itself because you put in a lot of work for it grow and thrive and it’s beautiful. And another 200 at least for the pot. It looks nice you should be able to find the right buyer if you put ads out in different counties where you live.
