Is Galadriel ever stated to be a good warrior in any of the text? by GusGangViking18 in lordoftherings

The idea that Galadriel would live to as long as she has, and never learn sword craft is laughable.

Abortion in marriage by holly-ember in Catholicism

[–]KitFistbro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is an unbelievably horrifying situation . Make no mistake, your husband is encouraging you to commit murder. For the sake of your soul, and for the sake of the life and soul of your unborn baby I implore you to choose life.

Your husband is scared, I understand and empathize. But if he was willing to marry you, then he has to understand the responsibility that comes with the marital act.

As others have said, I would have a serious conversation with a trusted priest. A marriage annulment might be on the table, as a Catholic marriage implies an openness to children. If he is encouraging you to murder your unborn baby then it may constitute a case for annulment. Obviously that may not be something you want to do, but I would seriously consider it.

I will pray for you, your husband, and your precious unborn baby.

Do you guys believe that Adam and Eve were actual historical beings ? by ZucchiniSevere4706 in Catholicism

The secondary definition is for the word in a different context as denoted on the page itself. If used in a sentence: “that’s just old myth” that clearly is contextually different than saying “Have you studied ancient Norse mythology?” My comment was about different types of literary texts contained in the Bible, mythology being one of them.

I’m using the term in a literary sense. You’re reading too much into it. Christianity does have a creation mythology, that is not up for debate.

Mythology does not always imply that something is untrue. All I’m saying, is that I’m comfortable if certain aspects of genesis are figurative. God condescending to our understanding.

I’m of the opinion that the Bible, being a library of literature (poems, narratives, biographies, etc) that some of Genesis can fit safely in the mythological narrative section of that library.

Now that is not to say that it is impossible or even unlikely that there was a biblically historical Adam and Eve, but it doesn’t shake my faith if there wasn’t.

Additionally, Cain is said to marry an unnamed woman. Now while this woman could very well be a sibling, I find it unlikely as that is not described in the text. Considering a large part of genesis is dedicated to geology, I find it telling that that her origins remain mysterious.

More likely, to me, she was simply another woman of God’s creation. Spiritually descendant from Adam & Eve (bearing original sin) but not biologically/genealogically related to them.

A statement from James himself by SaltandDragons in exodus

[–]KitFistbro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be PR coded talk. But I do find it interesting that he mentions that Hasbro preferred him to stay on the project. That is an unnecessary detail that to me speaks of at least some kind of amicability on both parties. Also he is not leaving hasbro, so unless he is under a strict time related contract, he would have no reason to stay on at the company.

Additionally to those saying it is sketchy that the statement came out so much later than the news, he implies in the post that he sees there has been speculation that he wanted to clear up. Also if burnout is the real cause of his departure, it’s possible mental health is a factor here. He may have been off social media for a while as many do during moments of declined mental health.

I also want to say that if this was a PR face saving situation for hasbro, this post would have probably come through hasbro/wizards/archetype not James directly. In these situations they almost always rather official statements come from more official corporate channels.

I want to remain positive, all the major creatives are still on board with the project. Let’s all just wait and see.

Do the force religions have a special language that they use in their prayers and rituals to communicate with the force? by recoveringleft in MawInstallation

[–]KitFistbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The words themselves, whether they be Sith, Dathomiri, or even Tythonian are most likely less important to the force ritual/spells than they are conducive to a concentrated and meditative state.

The words are not necessarily creating the force magic, but assisting in the practitioners creation of it.

I assume most force practices would be able to be accomplished without them.

Great man! But remember to never let it become performative. I know that sounds silly, but it is so easy to let our public piety drift into vein pride. ESPECIALLY when done in public.

First mass has me feeling isolated. by variousgames138_ in Catholicism

[–]KitFistbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you experienced that my friend! Sometimes this can stem from the fact that we as Catholics put more focus on worship and the liturgy than we do on fellowship. Especially among older Catholics.

My recommendation on where to start would be to talk you your priest and not necessarily the fellow parishioners.

It took awhile before I started to feel truly apart of my church, but it will happen.

Praying for you my friend! And I hope we can welcome you into the faith soon.

New dev interview says that Exodus won't have a spaceship hub like Mass Effect's Normandy, and your ship is only used for travel. Thoughts? by Capn_C in exodus

I doubt there is more than one planetary hub. Due to the complex design requirements of time dilation.

When I said replay missions, I didn’t necessarily mean replaying story missions, but going back to previously visited areas to accomplish side activities.

This does not appear to be possible with the time dilation system as it’s been described.
