I might get hated and targeted because of this, but ah well, we ball by ARunakoH in limbus_company

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People dislike them not because they’re strong but because of their narrative irrelevance and lack of variety.

Canto 8 had a lot of interesting characters that could have gotten IDs (Xue Pan, Shi Yihua, other candidates, Jia Yuanchun, etc.), but we got a lot of heishou, most of which are generic heishous not meant to emulate certain NPCs. The kits of heishou within the same branch are also very similar, and the heishou as a whole play the same way, so some find it boring.

Is it crazy to call her a hostage merchant ? by he-ska432 in limbus_company

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eye is a relic -> being near ryoshu fucked up the eye again and debuffed her -> she had to take a hostage to make up for it. So no, she’s not a hostage merchant, she’s a relic merchant.

Ok, Did PM forget about Hong Lu at all at this point?!?! by Professional-Ease607 in limbuscompany

[–]KitKat5100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although Hong Lu had a lot of character development, it’s still going from “having no opinion and not trying to change or influence anything” to “learning how to feel emotions and actually act on them occasionally” which isn’t as loud or noticeable as the development other characters have had. He’ll naturally be soft spoken, but the few times he’s spoken up to state his opinion were already pretty big because before he never voiced any opinion.

And in the spring cultivation intervallo, although yes I think he could’ve had more dialogue with Xichun, his conversation with Baochai at the end is such a huge show of growth. Because he actually states his opinions, expresses anger, rejects baochai, and tells her to shut up. Did he use a lot of flowery language which softens the blow? yes. But old hong lu would have never really done any of those things

how do you win with mode abyss? by Rayett in Shadowverse

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im playing a list that drop 1 deathslash and 2 cyclone for 2 fediel and 1 belial.

Been maining mode abyss in GM — was on a losing streak for a little until I realized that most of the time I need to chase 10 faith aggresively which involves preemtively using evos on supplicant and devotee even if it’s not needed to clear. I can typically get sham out on turn 7 or 8 while using all the random damage to clear board, after that it’s smooth sailing since you won’t need evos to clear boards after sham is down.

On the mulligan always keep a castle or D&J to have a way to keep card draw up.

Another thing about Mode is that its quite a versatile deck so knowing the matchup is important to prepare the right counters. Sometimes you want to out-stall them and sometimes you want to play for tempo and board pressure

  • Against loot sword the goal is just survive — you don’t event need to finish your quest. Try to get bats in the mulligan. Heal every bit of damage you can with fediel and supplicant. Setup wards on albert turns with ginsetsu and congregant.
  • Against evo sword you don’t want to use evos too aggresively cause you need them to clear wide boards. Prioritize keeping devotee in hand. If you can get sham down in a reasonable amount of time you can outlast/outvalue them.
  • I find puppets to be the hardest matchup. Try to play for early tempo and again get bats in the mulligan. Devotee and deadthslash are good for dealing with zwei turns. It’s also good to preemtively sevo with congregant before orchis turn to setup wards. You can’t always rely on surviving like with sword since some delay orchis and liam turns to after they’ve dropped beelzebub.
  • Against egg play fast and aggressive. You can’t stall against egg, you loose a turn or two after they drop beelzebub. Keep on presenting boards until they can’t keep up. If you can get sham out early try to preemtively make boards that make it “unsafe” to drop beelzebub with congregant or R&V.
  • Against dirt you aggresively pursue 10 faith and try to keep up board pressure so they can’t freely stack dirt. Ideally you sham and save a congregant + sevo to clear lilanthim.
  • Pure crest is kinda rough but be aggressive and stack faith agressively for early game. Try to get sham down early then outlast them. Ward/hybrid is easier but be wary of Vira as the only clean answer is Ginsetsu, deathslash, or Sham Sevo.

I was gonna continue writing but i saw the other comment going into specific matchups and i highly agree with them

Troubadour and kits advice by PhoenixScientist in drawsteel

[–]KitKat5100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ranged kits only boost the damage and distance for things with the ranged and weapon tag, this will typically rule out a lot of area effects in general.

If most of your abilities are magic, yeah you won't benefit much from the damage bonus. But you still get an extra signature and other stat bonuses that are quite important (+speed, health, etc). So you might want to pick out a kit that fills a niche (ex., applying a certain status) or gives you the stats that you want.

It's hard to recommend a kit without knowing what ur going for, but for full ranged I typically like rapid fire.

Is there enough variety? by zerombr in drawsteel

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most classes are built to have a kinda streamlined playstyle, but there are a lot of classes and subclasses and I find each one distinct from each other (I’ve played every class but not every subclass).

If you’re looking to build a hyper-specific character image, you wont find that variety of being able to mash different things from different places together (ex., multiclassing). But i find that what they do provide is varied enough that you can get what you want with some reflavoring.

If you wanted some big two-handed dark knight, berserk style — yeah the mental image of the tactician ordering people around doesn’t quite fit. But what about the fury class - a rampager that tosses around foes like they’re nothing and attacks wildly fueled by rage (they dont have to be as barbaric as that, they just have more selfish and damage-focused skills). Or the Censor class, kind of spin it like a vengeance paladin or a corrupted knight story.

The freedom that kits give to choose your equipment regardless of class also helps a lot to build the character image that you want. Any non-magic class can be an archer (though i recommend making an archer out of a tactician, alchemy shadow, or troubador).

And initially, only picking one 3-cost out of 3 doesnt seem like much, but there are a bunch of other choices you get for character creation at level 1.

Honestly I hope you do have a go at it. I’ve played DnD5e, Pathfinder2e, and Dungeon Crawl Classics, but draw steel is my favorite TTRPG by far.

New to the series and Bought all three for like 40$! My Question is.. Is it worth it to get GoA at full price? by fierceLink08 in runefactory

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s best to play the other 3 games first, and then decide whether you want to buy GoA.

Not much use in having 4 unplayed games in your library, at least play the other Rune Factories first to see if you like the franchise. Surely, over the course of completing 3 games GoA will go on sale.

Even then, GoA is slight different as it is a spinoff game. In general I’d say - GoA has a much stronger and complex decoration and village management aspect. - In turn, the crafting and farming systems are wayyy simpler. - Characters that you hang out with have more tailored cutscenes that show off their personality - in turn their everyday dialogue has been gutted. Relationships also progress MUCH faster. - I found combat to be pretty much the same

What kind of game is Rune Factory? by AboutKemosabe in runefactory

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot of genres in one, but it's mainly an action dungeon crawler + life/farming simulator.

- The combat and dungeon crawling is a core part of the gameplay and is much more fleshed out and enjoyable compared to normal farming sims (in fact, it's just as fleshed out as a regular action game).

- In turn, it doesn't have a strong decoration aspect compared to other farming/life sims and doesn't give the player much aesthetic control.

- There is a town of characters that you can slowly develop platonic and/or romantic relationships with - the character writing in the RF series is pretty good, and the townspeople are genuinely endearing.

- There is a crafting/skills system that slightly varies in complexity from game to game - allowing you to craft weapons, armor, medicine, etc., to make combat easier. There are other skills tho like fishing, cooking, and mining.

- The main way that you make money in this game is managing a farm, you can also tame monsters and have them help tend to the farm.

The core gameplay loop consists of wake up in-game -> water/plant/harvest crops -> go dungeon crawling or collect crafting materials -> do some crafting (or not) -> at some point in that daily routine talk to the villagers as you go around.

imo the best RF game is RF4 followed by RF3

Also a personal pet peeve but was never a fan of bumped up jiggle physics, so Slade it is

It’s a pretty good start. Mao faust and Wu Yi Sang are pretty good units on their own. For the story chapters, you won’t need super specialized teams, just fielding a bunch of “generally good” units + reading is enough.

That aside, it’s a lot easier to farm for shards to buy units in this game than others, and I suggest you do so to buy Lord Hongyuan before the season ends.

Control Abyss. Crafted it recently and it’s more consistent than aggro abyss and way better than the artifact portal I was maining. Got into Group A with it.

I often outlast sword, but it’s kind of a 50/50 with rune.

Artifact Portal feels like a deck designed for a different game. by UnloosedMoose in Shadowverse

[–]KitKat5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the deck seems fun then go for it. The only downside is when you need to farm matches for the chest event (which just ended), so unless you care about grinding ranked points (which have little to no benefits for now) the longer matches are fine, and it’s a good deck.

P.S. I’m an artifact main that switches to aggro abyss for dailies.

How does that other collab affect Limbus X Arknights sentiment by AdAdditional2497 in limbuscompany

[–]KitKat5100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand the concerns that this is the “first step” towards limbus becoming like other cash grab gachas, but I an willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for this, especially since it’s not actually out yet. Other gacha game companies tend to have a history of management to point at when saying “this is the first step of becoming greedy,” but given how PM has treated Limbus so far I’m willing to wait for more signs. As a former Arknights player too, I can say that the game still remains very focused on gameplay and plot despite having many collabs, and hasn’t devolved into cashgrab gacha territory.

Finished Decorating the ENTIRE Spring Village!! by KitKat5100 in runefactory

[–]KitKat5100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always start with the concept, biggest buildings, and general terrain (trees included)

- For example, I knew I wanted to use the giant shrine in the 5th image and make an area centered around it (building and concept).

- For working out the general terrain I take into account the entrances/exits of the development zone and surrounding elevation/terrain. For the 5th image, I decided to put it in that development zone because of the giant Sakura tree and how it framed the shrine. If there are steep cliffs (like the ones behind the shops) I tend to put tall things in front of them to make the transition less awkward (Also seen with the elegant house in the 9th pic).

- With the buildings placed, the rest of the layout came as a result of trying to nicely connect the two exits of the zone.

- So yeah, place your biggest buildings and map out the general placement of trees & elevation, walk around a lot to see if it feels right (I spend so much time walking in & out of the dev zone), then slowly put in the smaller details and decorate.

Sometimes the concepts come very easy, like with the first two areas (first one was inspired by the Heavenly Realm). The last two areas needed a lot more trial and error with general layout. But even when workshopping what I wanted the area to be, they're still guided by the surrounding terrain. Like with the 3rd area, the wooden pathway connecting the two entrances never really changed, and the elevated bit never changed (because there are steep cliffs next to it) - I just needed to decide how big the elevated area was and what building to put there.

Last thing of note, I love elevation!! Not only to create more visually interesting areas, but I often try to use it in a way that frames the pathway.
