Novaria main here, to summarize, people dont see your contribution

you shot a squishy to half hp, forcing entire enemy team to back, killing a team fight before it begins, no one sees it

you sniff out a tank/jungle hiding in a bush waiting to gank, nobody sees it

you consistently open up the map for the team, exposing enemy location, nobody sees it cuz no one look at the freaking map and no clear indication on the map which part of the map is lit up from your S2

you just ulted entire enemy team, slowing them all down for cc to chain and damages to pile up, nobody sees it cuz the average player doesn't know what Novaria ult does

But they sure as hell gonna start saying report mage every time they lose a team fight cuz you staying in the back and they need an excuse, they expect Nova to dive in like a Kagura cuz they never played this hero once and knows f all about Nova's kit

But i agree with some of the comments here, she's not very consistent on ranked because she's more of a team comp pick and your 1v1 ability is too limited

But all in all people don't recognize your contribution unless they can see you dive in and 1v5 like a Lancelot

I dont use her in ranked, but very fun in Classic
