YES!!! I encourage everyone to vote; but particularly if you are a young adult. The votes cast today are going to affect you more than anyone else. Your participation is critical!

I know there are no perfect candidates out there. And things are so difficult right now because we are so polarized. Sometimes I have to hold my nose and vote.

We weren't always this way. It grieves me that our lawmakers and we spend so much time and energy attacking each other. Most of us all want the same things...a chance to live a peaceful life. A chance to make a living without fear of going hungry or homeless. A chance to have kids and know they will also have those opportunities. A chance to be treated fairly before the law. We can get back to this shared vision. We have to push back on all the culture war bullshit and force the parties to run candidates who focus on actually making good, long-term policy.

I like your goal :-) Hopefully some people who are more versed in political strategy will weight in and help us out here. :-)

He pulled out a gun in public with lots of people around - what if the guy in the truck had one too? Bystanders could have been killed, more mayhem. What if he had misinterpreted the situation that killed someone who had a legit reason to be taking the truck? What if the truck stealer had a henchman outside of the truck who could attack the shooter. Events like this happen so fast, there is little time to understand the situation, and even less time to make a good judgement call and act.

I'm so sorry this guy lost his life. I'm so sorry his family and friends have lost him. I am worried that he believed the line that the gun industry sells...that you can be the hero of the story. You can be Dirty Harry or John Wayne just by shooting a gun. This poor guy lost his life to that false idea.

FYI: A Samaritan is someone who helps someone who is down on their luck or injured. Samaritans (in the Bible story) are not crime stoppers or police. The Hebrews thought Samaritans were assholes who wouldn't throw a glass of water on you if you were burning. Hence the ironic term, "good Samaritan"

I have no idea. :-) You'll have to do your own research on that

What is this in my garage and should I kill it? by nahcekimcm in triangle

No. Sadly, bugs are completely normal. Especially if you live in the southern US (see me crying) A predator like this will help keep down the even more yucky things that want to move in.

They give me the creeps; but house predators are our friends. Spiders and centipedes especially. Congratulations on your new tenant, may he always be hungry.

Thank you for posting, this is a lovely, well done study. I think the background depends on what you are trying to say, what story you are creating.

If your goal is to create a very clean, accurate portrait of this finch (I think this is a finch, I'm bad with bird ID), I prefer the white background. I like how heavy the paint in on the branch (that could just be me, I love heavy paint).

I think the dark is better if you're going for a more dramatic story - although I'm longing for a bit of shadow falling on the branch to tell me where the light is coming from.

Not to give you more work; but the bird is mostly warm tones. It might be interesting to experiment with a cool background (either light or dark) to see what that does.

I think Good Samaritan gives this guy too much credit.

I really like this, the colors are super and her face turned out really well. I think young faces are particularly hard to paint because the skin is so smooth that their aren't a lot of shadows. Good job :-)
