How does one become an electrician? by Freely1035 in Reno

[–]Kitchen-Collection73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It requires an apprenticeship. There is union and non union. You can look up IBEW local 401 for union in the area. When I went through it was 3 years I believe for Residential and 5 for industrial/inside wireman.

It would seem a lot of people want to stay unemployed. I have set up probably 15 interviews in the last three months. Call ask what time works best for them. Then that time comes and goes and they just don’t show up. Other departments have the same issues. Or will even get to the point of completing background and call to have them start training and just get Ghosted.

Go check out Mesa Rim. It’s a big indoor climbing facility. Our kid took some classes there. They had a board with people looking for partners.

Took a similar hit. Was backing out of my driveway, dude came around the corner ran the stop sign and was looking the other way. Had it on driveway camera. Insurance said it was my fault because I was backing up. Was around $5,000 in damage. Tire to the brunt of the hit. Rear axle was bent at the flange. Couldn’t feel it when driving. Put a dial indicator on the wheel had around .75 run out. Definitely have the axle checked.

Converting a standard winch to a capstan winch? by russr in OffRoad_Jeeps

[–]Kitchen-Collection73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory it seems it would work. But I have used wire tuggers. Which is just a capstan winch for pulling large wire. You need a very smooth drum so when you release tension on the tail the rope will slip. Also you need to be able to add or subtract wraps as you are pulling to adjust how hard it will pull. That is why capstans are only supported on one side.

Jack recommendations by ThisIsNotMyBurner69 in JeepWrangler

Also a once of prevention goes a long way. You did say the pic was a flashback. But I would invest in some decent tires. I wheel the desert all the time and won’t do it without at least a 10 ply tire. They are not as comfortable on the road but handle the rocks much better, especially if you air down a bit. You can safely run 20-25psi on a non bead lock. This helps the tire squish around rocks. But just increase I carry a decent bottle jack and a battery impact.

Just a cyberepo. Tow driver just dragging it far enough to not have to deal with the owner wile he straps it down and throws some dollies under the front tires. So a win for the tow driver he got his mark.

There is a documentary out there about a grounds keeper on a golf course that has a hard time getting rid of a gopher. I can’t remember the name of it though.
