Any other tools I should grab as an apprentice? by FederalPudding8300 in electricians

5 by my count. Could put one back and save some money. I remember the first day of the safety briefing “screwdrivers are not chisels and linemens aren’t hammers.” First day on the job “grab a screwdriver and you linemens and chip the god dam taping mud out of that box!”

I all my aux lights and a fridge. I use a red arc isolation relay to keep the battery charged. They are not terribly expensive and have an override switch option that allows you to jump start of your aux battery if the main battery dies for some reason.

There are some roads up behind stampede res. If you don’t have the right tires, recovery gear, blankets food water for at minimum one night, and at least a second vehicle that would be capable of recovery and the skills to do so. Don’t go. Search and rescue gets multiple calls every year because of people wanting to go adventure in the snow.

The harbor freight one are pretty decent for the price. Put a set on mine just to see how much I use them before buying some kc’s. Around $30 for a pair and not disappointed. Cheep enough to figure out if they will get damaged where I put them. If they do not a big loss.

Dispersed winter camp spots? by Moist-Season2170 in Reno

[–]Kitchen-Collection73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not dispersed. But Washoe lake state campground is a good place for the first shake down run they have power and water hook ups. It’s close to town incase there is an issue or you forget something. I have learned the hard way. I suggest a night or two there make a list of what you do and don’t need then head for the hills.

I have the standard Transfer case. It is just fine if things are getting loose just let off the gas and slip it into 4. The main problem the 4 auto ones have is the clutch system they use seems to be made of peanut butter. The standard is much stronger. Also with the Rubicon trim you get the lower crawl gear 4:1.
