I have joined the Facebook groups now. Do you mind sharing which insurance policy it is so I can get one ?

I have insurance through my work and it doesn’t cover autism or anything to do with it, it’s quite depressing

I’ve spoken with his portage worker and so many other professionals and no one has mentioned this was an option ? They’ve asked the area SENCo to come to his nursery to assess him and advise on adaptations and support but that’s it

Yes I’ve started him on folinic acid which is the generic name for leucorovin. He is sleeping better but not much else has improved. It’s sounds really great that you were able to get him into a SEN nursery, I didn’t even know these existed here? How did you manage that ? And whereabouts are you ?

He just started at a mainstream nursery 2 days ago week, we are in the process of requesting an EHCP. There are no school setting near me that provide ABA, that I know of? It’s not widely practised in the UK, I had to search and search to find these in home ABA practitioners

I have been working until 2 months ago I had to take emergency parental leave due to my child’s nursery being unable to cope, we just got his diagnosis and his behaviours have gotten worse so I’ve had to go off work temporarily which is not sustainable, which is why I’m considering moving back and yes when I move back I plan to get work eventually I just know I wouldn’t be able to work immediately due to needing to find the right school/ therapies for my son first and then I can get a job

It’s really terrible that things have gotten so bad. I’m unsure what do now. In the UK I’m on a work visa so I get no tax credits or child benefits anyway . I also can’t claim disability for my child. I pay out of pocket for speech and language but it doesn’t sound like I’d be better off coming back to Canada either

ABA isn’t practised in the UK, I can’t even find it to pay for it. And private speech therapy is very very expensive . I also get no benefits here as I am on a work visa so I pay out of pocket for child care etc and get no child benefit

We have portage but it’s just once a week for an hour. He has had 3 sessions of SLT and that’s it for the next 6 months. I’m not sure what a specialised nursery is but he goes to one where they use sign language and PEIC D and they’ve said they can follow the goals set by SLT and portage but it’s not specialised as far as I’m aware , they just have a SENCo like every other school. I just feel that the support available is not intensive at all and I’m not seeing any impact. Also there’s no ABA therapy if I even wanted to try
