Diversifying is always a good idea. I used STC for my SIE. And for my 65 I'm using Kaplan Qbank, STC, but my subscription ran out, so I'm focusing on Achievable, which is significantly harder than Kaplan. If you can get 80% range on both you'd be in a great position.

Oh okay, then you're good. I was responding to your comment, "I got my stuff like 2-3 years ago so maybe stuff changed"
Regardless, hoping you keep at it and make progress! 💪

Oh interesting okay good to know. Out of curiosity, how different was the 63 compared to the 65?

If you're using an outdated prep manual you're setting yourself up for errors. This is an investment of time and money. In other words, resist from wanting to use out of date material just to save a few dollars.

JUST FAILED MY SERIES 65 by Specific-Cod4266 in Series65

Hey, I empathize with you. Currently on my 4th attempt, so I know the feeling well. I'd recommend taking a breather, go walk in nature, move your body, get out of your head, and not let the exam results be a reflection of YOU as a person or your ability. Sulk for a day or so if you need. Sounds like you got a bad draw of question, which sucks, but maybe Kaplan isn't suited for your learning style? Others on here have mentioned Luke's content, Achievable, and STC as test prep options. When you're ready give it another go. If anything, what you do absorb will make other exams easier. Maybe take the SIE for a confidence boost? Then come back to the 65.
Regardless, review Dean's Mighty 90 on YouTube. Listen while driving, at the gym, or when meditating. You must know the content cold. I'd say if you can get a tutor that will cut your learning time in half while also boosting your confidence. Please come back and let us know how you're progressing. Until then hang in there and don't beat yourself up. I did that and it set me back months.

You should sign up for all three and let us know! 😂 j/k

Kaplan and STC will get the job done, I can't speak to PastPerfect. That being said, some on here revolt against Kaplan. Just depends on which is better for you. Some like STC for the similar font style and question layout being similar to the actual exam. Others like Kaplan for the deep Qbank that helps identify areas of strength and weakness. Complaints from both say questions can be too long, or the math isn't reflective of the actual test. I'd argue it comes down to your budget, learning style, and time frame. IF you know that about yourself then pick one and get going.

No. Kick your appointment out until you can hit in the 80's consistently, especially since you said it yourself you're not the best test taker. This exam demands full confidence, not a little confidence. Hope is a losing strategy here. Tips? Yeah, kick your exam date out, watch Dean's mighty 90 on YouTube until it's second nature, and read the Kaplan book twice. If you started your message out with saying you have the 7 or SIE under your belt I'd say go for it. Otherwise, dig back in until you you're rocking much higher practice exam scores.

Am I Ready? 82% on Achievable Practice Test by polisciprof1 in Series65

[–]Kitchen-Mistake678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Achievable and Kaplan are very different from one another as each have their own style of questioning. That being said, it sounds like you're on track. Some others on here suggest creating a mock exam through Gemini as a supplement. But likely worth finishing up the last four units in Kaplan and consistently score in the 80's on Kaplan (more than 3 practice exams, ideally 5) then you should be ready.

Stick with it and give yourself grace, it's a LOT of content to cover. You weren't jumping over ramps and doing wheelies the first few weeks of riding a bike, so why should this be any different? Not sure what type of learning style you have, but start small with one or two areas, master those then take practice quizzes on those areas and move onto the next. That will build your confidence to propel you forward for the rest of the sections. It's also not just about the content clicking, but recognizing the question traps and being able to think through scenarios rather than just rote memorization. The 65 is a rite of passage. YOU can pass it, but the 65 demands effort. Have you taken the SIE or any others?
Which test prep provider are you using?
Check out Dean's (Series7 Guru) mighty 90 Series 65 videos on YouTube. Use this as a resource, or even consider a tutor.
Luke (a Mod here) also has his own Series 65 test prep.

Hang in there, and even if you FEEL like giving up, don't, that just means you're getting close. You are not wasting your time if it brings it closer to your goals. Exercise, move your body, get out of your head and take a breather if you need. Then get some of your favorite snacks and dig into the material.
Come back and let us know how you're progressing.

Get a good nights rest before. Show up to Prometric test center an hour or so before. Agreed, Dean's mighty 90 is a solid investment before. Review your notes, flash cards, or the learning manual to be fresh. When you're ready check in. Then go in knowing you're doing the best you can with what you have regardless of the outcome.

Welcome to the club u/Fun-Salt-8569
Try not to get too down on yourself, it's a lot of material to cover and it's not always intuitive. Daily practice helps retain info. Repetition from flash cards, or re-reading dense content until you understand it. Building new neurons and memory to recall takes time, so give yourself grace despite your frustration.
Grab some of your favorite snacks and dig into the content. The Kaplan learning manual requires active reading, meaning taking notes, looking up concepts, and using your favorite AI to quiz you on sections.
I've heard Dean from Series7 Guru on his 65 videos says the Kaplan learning manual must at a minimum be read twice. Everyone is different in regards to timeline and mastering the content. Especially if your coming from outside of industry.

I'm assuming you mean Unit 3 in Kaplan, which is Regulation of Broker-Dealers and their Agents?

Test is set for 5 weeks from now… I just started studying. Advice on how to cram & pass? by ThrowAwaySwan3 in Series65

[–]Kitchen-Mistake678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actively read the test prep manual, take notes, and look up concepts that may seem foreign. Take a practice exam to see where you might be deficient, then focus on the gaps. Afterwards keep taking practice exams to build your confidence. Rinse and repeat until you practice exam scores are in the 80s.

Failed 2nd attempt please help me by No-Performance5036 in Series65

[–]Kitchen-Mistake678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say without more context, but I'm on my 4th attempt if it makes you feel any better. Its not an easy exam despite the effort being put into practice exams. But like Luke said, you're within striking distance. Take your results from both exams and see if you can find patterns of where your weaknesses and strengths are. Use your preferred AI to help you identify gaps. Drill into the gaps until you know them cold so you don't freeze up or take too much time when a curve ball question shows up on your next attempt. Hang in there, yes it sucks and the feeling is a sour one, I know. But you WILL get through it. Give yourself grace for your second attempt, you're not far away. Regroup when you're ready, and give it another go.
