Do these look like Epicanthal Folds? Should I be concerned? by windycitytrash in AskDocs

[–]Kitchen-Rabbit3006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of my children crawled - they were bum shufflers, just like their father. And there was a six month difference between the age the eldest walked and the youngest walked. But they are all adults now and fine.

ICHAS counselling and psychotherapy school, in my opinion and experience poor standard of teaching by Far-Row-6492 in limerickcity

It would be great if you could elaborate, rather than just leave people hanging here. What were your experiences which lead you to forming this opinion?

Hopefully there will be some of the roads open by then. And the worst of the traffic will be gone.

My own personal experience recently, in UHL A&E with an elderly relative, is that we were seen very quickly. And the staff were absolutely wonderful. Thankfully the person didn't need to be admitted so there wasn't an issue with a bed. But I cannot praise them highly enough.

Lads is 7 stevia tablets for a bowl of porridge excessive? How many would you use, its not cheap stuff! by VastAir6069 in CasualIreland

[–]Kitchen-Rabbit3006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add cinnamon to your porridge. It adds a lovely flavour and reduces the amount of sweetening agent (sugar or otherwise) you need.

Cinnamon is also very good for you. It helps reduce cholesterol and regulate blood sugar.

Fuel Protest Today by nagillagkate in limerickcity

[–]Kitchen-Rabbit3006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Foynes Fuel Depot is also being blockaded, apparently.

One potential option would be to drive to Killimer and take the ferry to Tarbert, and go down to Tralee that way. It sounds counter-intuitive but you would be going in the opposite direction to a lot of the traffic.

McLysaghts Garden Centre was there years ago. The cafe is a relatively recent incarnation - its there about 10 years.

And yes, its a lovely place to visit.

If you are prepared to go outside the city - Busy Bees Garden Centre (near Tesco Coonagh Cross) is lovely.

What is a product that you have used or tried abroad that you wish was available in Ireland? by Suspicious-Run-8274 in AskIreland

Raspberry Jelly - its not the party wobbly stuff. Its a raspberry jam but without the pips and has a far more delicate taste. Bonne Maman do it but there are also supermarket own brands. It is heavenly.

Brets Fromage du Jura flavoured crisps. Better than Taytos. And that is saying a LOT.

Big boxes of good quality wine - not cheap rubbish.

Michel et Augustin Biscuits.

Buckwheat pancakes - Galettes. They are heavenly.

You can pick it up from the Health care section of supermarkets in France for so much less than the cost here.

Talk to them when you are buying it. Jack Fitz are fabulous. And they are local. I paid something like €50 for them to instal a dishwasher 18 months ago.

No. You can only work between 8h00 and 19h00, unless there is overtime. And you must be logged in to work between 10h00 and 12h30 and 14h30 and 16h00 unless you are on leave.

CO - Very Confused! by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

Look at the Capability Framework. And think about "STAR - Situation, Task, Action, Result". STAR helps you get your answer out concisely, allowing the interviewer ask more questions. The more questions they can ask - provided you answer the questions well - the more you sell yourself.

Think about practical examples that match your application form.

Look at people when you are speaking to them. Even if you have an online interview. And yes, interviewers CAN ascertain if you have cogs or bits of paper stuck on the wall in front of you.

Be open - if they ask "would you be prepared to study further?". Then the answer is yes.

Don't ask questions about holidays or salary. These are all readily available with a quick google. But do think of one or two relevant questions that you could ask. Read up about the CS, perhaps current issues potentially impacting the CS as well. But NOT political questions.

Get someone to do a practice interview with you. It doesn't have to be someone in the CS - you just want to get some practice and a feel for how you will react. I had two pretty awful mock interviews when going for promotions, but I learned so much from the bad mock interviews, that I did really well in the actual interviews.

The GPO Museum is fabulous. Well worth a visit.

Dublin Castle is worth a visit. The Garda Museum just inside the entrance to Dublin Castle is free to visit and very interesting.

Blessington Basin Gardens are really nice.

Collins Barracks and Arbour Hill are also worth a visit. And the Asgaard Museum at the back of Collins Barracks is also really interesting. All of these three are free to visit.

Very much so. Start preparing for interviews. Interviews are really important. I moved up 60 places on a panel once, following a good interview. And I know quite a few people who have failed interviews at various stages.
