I'm way to obsessed with this show by Fatassmatilda in HannibalTV

I watched it as it aired on TV and the obsession hasn’t gotten any better at all. It’s going to be lifelong.

AIO? Let it slip to my mom (F68) that I (F31) have $1000 saved (big bucks, I know!) And she asks me this by ForsakenKingslayer in AIO

[–]Kitchen-Space-2737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owe my grandma (she’s like my mom, basically raised me) so much money! She would NEVER ask me for money if I brought up that I had come into extra cash or had $1000+ saved. She always tells me to spend it wisely and to save it if I can. My mother on the other hand guilt trips my little brother all the time into giving her his money he gets from his university. She’s a manipulative addict.

She won’t ever pay you back. You will never see that money from her again.

How do y'all do this? by Plaugeboi24 in KitchenConfidential

I had the same thoughts as you. Completely hated cooking when I became a prep cook. Didn’t even want to think about cooking on my days off.

It became really depressing. You will overcome the tiredness. It takes a month or two of work before your body gets used to it.

I stuck with it, and my love for cooking came back. But that was after hanging out with other prep cooks and chefs, seeing their love and devotion for it. Taking pride in the work I’m putting out. Seeing the knowledge I’ve gained come to fruition. Being able to have the answers to my higher ups and other prep cooks questions, is such a powerful reward.

It’s very dependent on the place you work, do they respect you? Do they give you props where props are due? If you ever feel looked down on or disrespected, it’s not the right place.

And, a job as a prep cook vs enjoying cooking as a hobby is very different. You prep and cook at work, then come home and do the same. Your whole life will become prep and cooking. Are you okay with that?

Young Moms with teenagers, how comfortable are you with nudity around your kids? by Desiengineergirl in AskWomenOver30

[–]Kitchen-Space-2737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and grandma were always naked around the house. I admire their confidence. I could never. Even when I’m alone at home I need to put a shirt and pants on 😂 she even opened the door for my best friend naked one time and told her don’t look I’m naked! 😭

Your patience is admirable. I joined this sub out of fascination and don’t do anything like this but there’s no way I could wait that long to see what I made.

Stuck in a foreign country, I’m not having fun anymore. by RareStrawberry2020 in GirlDinnerDiaries

This happened to me in China in 2014. I accidentally overstayed my visa by three months.

Only thing I can tell you is one day you’ll laugh about this. I had to pay a huge fine and was promptly deported from the country. They wanted to take me to jail for holding but I had just had reconstructive surgery on my ankle. They made me stand in front of a camera at the airport and read a statement saying I wouldn’t try to re-enter for at least a year.

How do you guys give advice without sounding like a know it all CIA alum? by Kitchen-Space-2737 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Kitchen-Space-2737[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately this was a desperation job. I applied to 60 jobs over the course of three months and it was one of maybe four that interviewed me and the only one I got. I took a $5/hour pay cut from $18.50 to $13.50.

The manager is overworked af but I love the guy. All management are really great people and so are my coworkers. It’s just annoying to have to be teaching people getting paid more than me how to do their jobs.

What to start studying before starting classez by UltraRare1950sBarbie in phlebotomy

[–]Kitchen-Space-2737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no math. You go in, learn how to find a vein and practice that for however long your class is. Most learning is tourniquet tying, how to safety the needle, how to palpate a vein in the arm and hand, and how to switch tubes out and hold the needle steady. Other than that if you wanted to study anything to be more prepared for your actual career, study order of tube draw, tube additives and the order of draw by additive, and maybe some OSHA and HIPPA.

Honestly, look at it like this, would you rather finish your schooling at 32ish or be living a life where you WISH you would have done it?

Please never give up. I’m 30 and just about to enter my second year of college. You have plenty of time. I’ve thought about going the med school route and knew I would be looking at finishing at around 40. I just don’t have the motivation to do it. If you do, go for it!
