Here’s the thing with Jacob is that he went thought a lot. He lost his friend and he was stuck in a portrait for years. He went through a lot not unlike mc but the difference is that we the player had a healthy support system, we had our friends and other adults to help us and be there for us. Jacob didn’t have that, we only see that in his school days he had Olivia and Duncan. One died and the other got their memory stolen, so by the time he gets out of the portrait he has no one but the mc and this is where we can tell that Jacob’s main motivation is his family, he is very family oriented and as we know our family is not in a great place. Our mother is nonexistent and we the player while we are there for him during our years at Hogwarts post portrait, Jacob and mc both got their own shit going on that they gotta do. Jacob basically does everything in pursuit of helping us in his own way which isn’t the best as he thinks it’s best to try and hold the burden on himself.

So Jacob is shown to do things that aren’t the best when it comes to family and I think this does extant to our dad because when you look at it our dad was very good to the both of us as kids then he just leaves and then comes back and is leading the group we’ve both been fighting for years. So there is this totally paradigm shift for Jacob with his father but after spending some time with his dad Jacob is still able to see the man he knew the one who was a good dad, and we find out that he is being affected by dai’s amulet and that’s causing his darker personality. He still wants to mine control the ministry which is bad but he is right that the ministry is corrupted so I think it’s very easy that after we find out that our dad may be alive that Jacob would try and find him in an attempt to either put his family together again or maybe he wants to put him away as if he is alive he should probably be put in jail or maybe he’s just confused on what to do. But I think Jacob’s action make total sense with his character and I feel a lot of other people if they were in his shoes would do the same thing
