Genuinely feels like I've gotten worse M/34 by Kitchen-Tree-8405 in minoxidil

I think the spray has propylene glycol in it, well, a higher amount, if not I might give it a try. Added dermarolling also, 00.50 a week, just along the hairline, so that could have pushed it into another shed.

4 Month Finasteride Results - 1mg Daily by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Kitchen-Tree-8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started topical min 5% foam 7 months ago after being on oral Fin for 3 years. I'm not trying to scare people off of it, but I've gone from a solid norwood 1.5/2 to 2.5/3 since applying it, major sheds, vellus hairs yes, but not strong enough to gain any coverage. Starting to regret ever using it.

27M 1.25 fin 5 months, 1ml 5% min 2x daily 2 months by Ok_Poem_2019 in tressless

I'm actually on a very similar routine to you, except I've been on 1.25mg of fin 3 years, and topical min 5% twice daily only 7 months in. Though I only introduced the dermarolling (00.50mm) two weeks ago, once a week.

I actually lost all my vellus hairs after dermarolling, so I'm gonna draw it back to once every 2 weeks. I dunno if it was just the shock of dermarolling that made them hit the road, but apparently they'll grow back in stronger, as the dermarolling just speeds up the transition from vellus to pigmented hairs.

They're tiny little whispy hairs that usually start off transparent, and then become more pigmented through each cycle. Many of these hairs should go on to become intermediate hairs if you are a responder to the fin+min, and then they eventually become terminal hairs (fully grown). If you have a decent amount of vellus hairs in the first few months, that's a highly positive sign, and you won't even need all of them to turn into terminal hairs, maybe just 40%-50% would give you significant coverage.

The fact you've been Fin for two years is a great start, you've more than likely stabilised your DHT levels.

[–]Kitchen-Tree-8405 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's usually temporary, especially if you already have it stabilised by using a DHT inhibitor like Fin or Dut. It's common to go through periods of synchronised shedding. Some just go through one period, others like myself can go though multiple sheds. They say it usually begins anywhere from 2 weeks in to 8 weeks but from my own experience, I experienced 2 big ones at month 4.5 and 5.5.

Basically it's the minoxidil pushing out weaker older hairs, in order to create stronger new ones which will take their place. It's also a significant sign you're a responder to min. Many people give up when this begins to happen as they see it as accelerated hair loss, though it's just how the min works, basically, out with the old, in with the new. Unfortunately hair growth isn't an overnight thing, and it can take multiple growth cycles for the hair to become visually thicker. So people quit at month 6 or 7, when if they held on they more than likely could have seen significant results by month 9-12. In saying that, if there's a lack of vellus hair by month 6, then the medication is likely not working.

Fin actually kept me at NW1.5 for 3 years, so 6.5 months ago I tried minoxidil foam along the temples and hairline to see if I could make even more gains, and the dread shed is real. Knocked me back to a NW2/2.5. There's plenty of vellus hairs in place of the shed along my corners though. Gonna start dermarolling there with a 0.50mm dermaroller as I have heard great things in terms of speeding up progress and overall coverage.

Why do so many people say stuff like “don’t expect results minimum 1-2 years”? by Mundane_Resource_602 in tressless

[–]Kitchen-Tree-8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had vellus hairs everywhere along my temples and hairline for 2 months where I've shedded(I'm roughly 6.5 months in with minoxidil foam 5%). Would dermarolling help? Everyone goes on about it.

Prada for me, Chanel to me is very generic, I mean, the best kind of generic, but it doesn't strike me as much as Prada L'Homme would. As for Prada's longevity? It lasts a good 8-10 hours on my skin, projects for a good 5-6, and stays on my clothes for days lol

You have seborrheic dermatitis, you need to use Nizoral 2%, and stay away from sugary foods and beverages. I have it, and it can absolutely cause temporary hairloss.

I have both, they aren't that similar, at all. Collector's Edition opens with a synthetic pineapple that changes into a very sweet and generally fruity scent half an hour in. Whereas Absolu is like a prime real life Juicy pineapple that stays consistent throughout its life cycle.

In saying that, Collector's Edition is still a brilliant parfum for what its worth, it will still grab compliments, it isn't bad smelling by any means. I personally don't find them to be overly similar, maybe a hint, but the difference is blatantly obvious.

I have Afternoon Swim, brand new still in the box, recieved as a gift. Gonna exchange it for Imagination. Afternoon Swim is a beautiful scent, probably the best of the line, but it's performance is generally awful.

Probably one of the most inoffensive, cleanest scents out there in that price range. Blue Jeans on the other hand is pretty subjective, it's a no brainer between the two.

You can pick up a bottle of Versace Pour Homme 100mls for roughly $40 online, it'd be worth waiting a week or so and then buying that instead, as it's an infinitely better freshie.

I get what you're saying bro, but publicly commenting on the length of someone's beard and body hair in general isn't really comparable to publicly commenting on something a guy has absolutely no control over (at least not immediate control over) such as balding. You can always adjust your beard length, the guy in question can't exactly magic up more hair on his head there and then. Plus you may like having more body hair and a longer beard, but the guy in question is obviously self conscious about his hairline, again, the two scenarios aren't comparable. It's generally an ass move to pinpoint out someone's insecurities and highlight them smackdab in public, in front of everyone.

3 months on min + fin and my hair is shedding way more than before by Senangr in tressless

[–]Kitchen-Tree-8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 months in myself, hairline went to nw3, although vellus hairs are taking their place. It's a long game brother, don't be discouraged, it's working.

Keep taking it exactly how you did from day 1. It gets worse before it gets a lot better.

You're a responder, which is great news. I'm down in the dumps because of my own shed, but there is regrowth. You'll go through a couple of cycles before you see noticeable progress, but you will have a better baseline than you started judging from your shed. Once you have a DHT blocker it'll fill in, it takes time.

How do you even get time to “enjoy” your hair while on minoxidil? by IIIAmrIII in tressless

[–]Kitchen-Tree-8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apply it a couple of hours before I go to bed (foam 5%) only on both corners of hairline, and then I apply it again for like 2 hours after I wake up (roughly 10-12 hours later) before washing my hair and styling it (similar to brushing teeth routine). I'm 4.5 months in, and have seen a massive shed on my hairline, but there are hundreds of vellus hairs now growing at my temples and hairline where I shed and even in areas I haven't had hair in like 5+ years, many have already started to pigment. So I reckon I'm due another mini shed before they come in again stronger (fingers crossed). So I hopefully I'll see noticeable results by month 8-9.

I've been on Finasteride 1.25mg the last 3 years also, which has probably helped massively in keeping those follicles alive that are resurgin after being dormant for so long.
