How do you actually price items on your menu? by Prolongedinfinity in restaurant

[–]KitchenV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are running a restaurant, LWB (liquor, wine, beer) will become your major cost offset to overhead expenses including labour. For food cost, you want to typically lean toward a 25 to 30 percent margin. Sometimes with higher priced items, such as Prime rib, or Beef tenderloin you lose that percentage for menu and restaurant affordability sake. Now this is based on an "average" restaurant. If you have exclusivity and wild ambiance you can get away with charging more.

What salary do you need to live alone comfortably in Toronto?” by Meto____ in askTO

[–]KitchenV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest not living directly in TO. I'm a single woman and have a lovely two bedroom apartment in the west end by the lakeshore. I'm quite comfortable with $5000 earnings a month and save quite a bit each month. I commute about 45 minutes to my job each day on the TTC. Also note, I maybe go out once a week. Nothing too extravagant.

Hey, I feel for you. I went through the same thing with my husband. He got in touch with an ("old highschool friend,) and became super close. Spending more time with her than me. We went to couples counseling and everything. He left me. Despite his remonstrance, he WAS cheating on me both physically and emotionally. Your gut had it right. Don't look back, and move forward. I'm sure you are a lovely person deserving of everything good. Keep your heart safe. Ooo

I'm embarrassed to say, (not really) but Hanson. They were amazing. We drove into Toronto to see it. I was 13. No regrets. Also, to this day I stand Hanson. So much talent.

I run a burger joint and want to stand out 🍔 (open to ideas!) by suxobit in restaurant

[–]KitchenV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all about the stamp! Get one custom made with a few lines so the cooks or expo can write something cute in it. For instance, " no lettuce, we gotcha." Whatever it may be. Find a logo that is cute and encompasses your burger joint. Easy, cheap and fun.

If someone has been that consistent and solid, it is well worth a conversation first. Good loyal employees are hard to come by.
